Chapter 4
**DAHLIA'S POV**
"It's either you consent to it and get your mum treated or you forgot about it entirely." She said with a smirk on her face.
Gosh!!! That got me on the hook in this one.
I didn't want to get married to someone on a contract basis but I also didn't want to lose my mother.
I guess this is those times in life when you have to make really difficult choices and i can't back down now that mine hit me in the face.
"I'll do it." I suddenly said surprising myself and even Monique stared at me in surprise.
"Good then, let's gets you to sign the contract first before we proceed." Monique said standing up as she disappeared into the house and reappeared with a file in her hands.
As she got to where I was seated, she handed the file over to me and ethics led me to read the contract.
"You don't have to read the contract, just sign it already because I've already discussed everything you have to know with you." Monique urged as she passes me a pen.
"She's right, Dahlia. " Dad urged and even my stepmother's look softened and that sent wrong signals down my spine.
"As long as I've said I would do it, I wood but y'all must know that I'm my mother's daughter in every sense. I can't just sign without knowing each and every clause of the contract. " I explained to shit them up which worked apparently well as they all backed down.
I went through each and every clause of the contract as my heart pounded in my chest.
I was only going to get married to this billionaire so I could provide him an heir and after that, I'm leaving the marriage. Its not like it's some life long marriage to someone I don't love.
I eventually signed the contract and Monique called up the secretary of the man that wanted the contracted wife with news that i had accepted the contract.
That same day, I was made to visit the house of the man I was getting married to buy I solely refused requesting to see him on his office instead.
I was directed and on getting to his company, i was told that he wasn't around and his personal assistant attended to me.
That same day, I was taken to a private lounge to get prepared for the wedding the next day and heavens knows that it creeped me out as to why a wedding has to be this rushed.
After the whole hassle of the day, it was settled that my wedding would be the next day and I returned to the house to the arms of my sick mother.
On getting to the house, I went straight to her room and hugged her tightly where she laid on the bed.
"Where have you been since morning? I started getting worked up. " She asked and i heaved a sigh.
If I told my mum about the decisions I had taken, she wouldn't buy it at all but i had tot tell her.
"Mum, I have a confession to make to you but promise me me you won't freak out." I pleaded and she sat up immediately staring at me with wide eyes as she wondered what I must have to say.
"Tell me." She urged and my heart skipped beats.
"Promise you won't freak out, you're already tensed up." I stated and she took a deep breath in before closing and opening her eyes slowly as she stared at me.
"I won't freak out so you can tell me." She answered and i smiled broadly.
"I'm getting married tomorrow." I stated and she stared at me like I had suddenly grown horns.
"That was a bad joke." She answered and laid down back as she sighed.
"Mum, I'm not joking. I went to see dad to ask for help for your treatment but they said before they can help me , I have to get married on contract to a man that wanted to marry Monique and i consented." I explained and mum stood up slowly as I could see fear plastered on her face.
"Why? You did all of these because of me but if Monique didn't want to get married to the man, why did you consent? You dont even know who it is.... And oh God!!!." Mum enunciated as tears rolled down her eyes.
We discussed the matter at length and I managed to calm her down with the thought that i and the man that I haven't even seen yet would get a divorce once it's due time.
I made dinner, coaxed her to sleep and went to my room to mentally prepare myself for the wedding tomorrow.
Early the next day, I woke up with the sound of a car honking and then frantic and rasp knocking on the door.
"Who is it?." I called ad I hurriedly ran out of the room to open the door.
As I opened the door, I was met with the face of two beautiful girls and a man but I was at the brink of confusion.
"How may I help you?." I asked and the girls looked at me with confusion as well.
" Aren't you Miss Dahlia? You have to come with us to prepare for the wedding. " They urged and realization hit me hard in the face.
The day I was dreading had finally broken.
" Sure, I'll be out in a jiffy." I pleaded as I let them into the parlour and ran to my mum's room.
Surprisingly, as I got to mum's room she was already dressed up in her best and my mouth fell open.Within few minutes, I was ready and in a roller coaster to the suite where I would be dressed for the wedding.
I got there and the maids took their time in attending to me and at the end of the day, I looked stunning more than I believed I was..
The wedding gown with pearls on it, the strapless heels, the diamond necklace and earrings. Everything was just perfect but still, I felt a kind of emptiness inside of me.
This is just for a while, for my mum!!! I reminded myself as I walked into the car that conveyed us all to my wedding ground.
