Chapter 11

Aviena's POV

Wait. What? Did he just say the contract to someone else? I thought this was confidential. Wow.

I turned to River who was also looking at me now. He seems to be watching my reaction.

"You know what we have?" I asked as the friendly smile also remained even though it was awkward for me. I hate River for not even telling me about this. They seem good together. Marissa was also looking at me with a smile on her face.

“Yes. River told me. ” I just smiled back too because I didn’t know what to say. I just introduced myself to her.

“Aviena. River's wife for a while. ” I acted nice even though I was actually surprised by the sudden visit of the person River wanted.

She doesn't seem to be able to break dishes. No wonder people think that River and Marissa look good together because they do.

I even saw Marissa holding him before whispering. I hear the gossip of our housemates watching us. They immediately averted their gaze when I met their eyes. I just smiled.

“Is it really fine if I stay here for a while? Mom said that our house is still under renovation. ” Her eyes were already on River but soon she turned to me.

“Are you all right, Vena? Don't worry I won't bother you! I'll stay out of your sight if you want, ” she said, seemingly worried about my reaction. I just gave a stingy smile.

“I don’t mind if River’s already decided. The mansion is too big,” I said, looking at River. If I could just grin at him, I would have done it. His decision was too much. I wasn't even asked. I know we're not dating for real but can't he even inform me? Even if he just asks to pretend to ask me. But he didn't even do that.

I wanted to diss him but the smile and angelic reaction seemed to be tattooed on my face.

“By the way, you really have a sexy body. Seems like River really has a specific type, huh?” she laughed at the question as he turned to River who didn't speak. Still looking at me, he seemed to be estimating my reaction.

The three of us were awkward so I arranged my stuff. I was still looking for Veron but I didn't know where that one was.

“Can you come with me to my room, Rivs?” Marissa asked him. I secretly smiled. I'm pretending to be busy returning to my exercise. What will they do in the bedroom? Do they miss each other so much that even his legal spouse is here? They won’t hold back the muscle call? What are you thinking, Aviena? Are you losing your mind?

I just shook myself and would just have ignored them but I saw Marissa holding his arm before I turned around.

"I'll borrow your husband first," she told me. This is really weird. I don’t know if I’ll laugh or what. I thought I don't care at all if I see him with someone else as long as my career won't be ruined but I don't know this foreign feeling I'm having right now. It seems painful. I don't like this.

"You can have him all you want," I said, trying to joke even though it was heavy. Marissa laughed as she looked at River. I just kept up with him. What right do I have to act if she is the real girlfriend? I don't know their reason why. If they loved each other, they would have gotten married. Why am I affected so much? What about me?

"If you want to exercise, exercise in the gym, Aviena," River said, looking at me coldly. Wow, ah? There's something to add to his annoying face, huh?

I just smiled so we wouldn't argue. He kept looking at me so I just pretended to hide my real feelings until they could get inside.

I didn't look after them anymore and just distracted myself at the end of my exercise routine.

When it was over I just lay down on the mat before looking at the sky. I just raised my hand while looking at the blue sky. I smiled bitterly to myself. I don’t understand why I am actually like this.

“Ma'am, what else are you doing here? Will you really let your husband's mistress come to the mansion while you're mumbling here?” Veron asked me. I smiled and shrugged. If she just knew what was going on between the two of us, she would definitely not force me not to let the person I have never really talked with until the wedding day be taken away.

I also stood up, helping Veron with some things.

"Ma'am, we would help you," some gardeners of the mansion said.

“Wow! I'm having a hard time here too, you can't even help,” Veron complained to them. They scratched their heads before helping Veron. This one really looks like a law. I couldn’t help but giggle as I looked at her.

The smile just disappeared from my lips when I got inside and saw River and Marissa who looked like they were just going down the stairs. I smiled. Why are they so fast? Quickie? I just laughed in my mind and tried not to look at them anymore.

"Thank you for helping," I thanked the two gardeners and Veron.

“No problem, Ma’am. Anytime! Just call us when you have something to do!” They even smiled at me so I smiled back at them too.

"What are you doing?" The smile on my face gradually faded when River's cold voice greeted me.

“I’m going upstairs now. You should have breakfast in the dining room first, ” I said, smiling again at those who helped me and ignoring River. I went straight upstairs but the idiot still followed me. He really wants a fight, huh? We’re only going to be two months away but he seems to be showing that really the real him.

"I told you to just go to the gym," he whispered when he approached me. He still looks angry based on his voice. What the heck is his problem? I didn't even do anything. I'm trying my best not to fight with him even though I'm already annoyed with his nasty attitude. He still has a temper tantrum, huh?

“What did I do? I'm not even bothering you! I'm starting to get annoyed with you too, River Savellano,” I said with a glare and quickly walked into his room. I also pushed it shut so that I could finally enter. That brute is really pushing me to my limit.

I just grabbed the towel before heading straight to the comfort room. I don’t know if I’m angry and irritated at being inquisitive and stuck with him or at the idea that his girlfriend is here now.

Shut the fuck up, Aviena. You don't have a reason to be mad at that. You already know what you are. What if he brings his girlfriend? You're not together.

I don't even like him. Why do I feel annoyed now?

All right, believe yourself, Aviena.

I just closed my eyes and soaked in the bathtub. I was just so annoyed with him. I don't have any feelings for that guy.

I just try to think about it. I don't even know if I'm losing my mind. I was in the bathroom for a while before deciding to go out.

I sat down on the edge of the table when I noticed again the photo displayed there. My lips parted when I realized that Marissa was the girl he was in this photo. That's why her face is so familiar.

I couldn’t help the bitterness in my smile. Childhood sweetheart, huh? Nice. What a nice couple they are.

I was just staring at it for a long time when I heard a knock from outside.

"You should eat with Sir, Ma'am," Veron said to me. I nodded because I don't want to be a VIP to have food delivered to this room.

I immediately regretted the decision when I got there.

I even saw River sacrifice Marissa he couldn't do for me. I was already wearing my usual smile when I sat in front of them.

“Are all of your things already here?” I asked Marissa. I suppressed a frown when I saw her lip suppress a grin.

“Not everything yet. Some helpers will even bring my stuff here because you know… I'll be staying here for to long...” I don't know if the smile on her lips is teasing me or if I'm just paying too much attention to her smile.

"Oh, how long are you going to stay here?" I asked, pretending not to care. I have also started putting food on my plate.

“Hmm, I don’t really know yet but I think it will be longer this time. River and I will catch up on so many things. ” She even looked at River before smiling at him as if to indicate something. I don't even look away from River. My smile also became so raw before I continued eating.

I almost choked on food when I saw her trying to feed River. I even suppressed a laugh. The reason why River gave me a bad look while Marissa was surprised to see my behavior. She speaks because of that. I don’t know if it’s for self-defense or what.

“River’s looked thin these past months. It was good that he came home to me for a few days. He got fat somehow. And of course, now that I'm here I'll also make him eat a lot!” Marissa told me while smiling.

“Yes. That good. You can take care of him all you want. I don't really like taking care of someone I barely know. ” I laughed because I knew that Marissa already knew about what we had.

The wind then changed. We were silent. I couldn't even swallow food now. But I still quietly tried to do so. I stand when I'm already finished. I even saw Marissa help the helpers.

No wonder they all like her here. She's really a wife material. It's no wonder now why they want her to be paired with River. She's nice. I could see her wide smile on some of the helpers and she was even able to chat with them.

I turned around and went straight out of the house. I didn't really want to stay here. If I'm not confined to the room, I'm just in the garden. It's so suffocating. I'm tired of acting as if everything is fine here at River's mansion. I don't even have my safe space anymore.

I don't know if it's really a good choice anymore.
