Sugar Mommy

Chapter 7

I didn't get to say goodbye to Arzeil so he was surprised when he heard that I had returned to Manila. It's not safe if I stay in a place where... there is someone who only reminds me of the past.

There was no one in my condo with Khai. Maybe because he doesn't know where I am now. My return was unexpected. My bodyguards and Sabel also took turns entering their condo after they took me to our unit and made sure we were safe.

I sat down on my bed and I smiled when I saw the picture frame on my bedside table. I took it and stroked my son's face with it. He is five years old in this picture but now he is really big.

"I missed the little you, Khai..."

Because I was tired from the trip, I only rested for a while. ``Just as I was leaving my room, I heard the door of our condo open. My room is on the first floor and my son chose the second floor.

"Welcome home, Mom!" he shouted and ran to me. He was still wearing their uniform but it was too early to go home.

I opened my arms to give him the freedom to hug me. My mother and I were separated for less than a week, but I felt like a person had left and I missed her immediately.

"I missed you, baby," I said and kissed his head. He hugged me even tighter.

"I missed you, too Mom. I thought you were going to stay there for one more week? Why did you come home so early?" he asked me smiling. He loosened from our embrace and I pulled him into the living room.

We sat next to each other on the sofa.

It was 1:15 in the afternoon, they were going home from school at 4 sharp.

"Don't you have class today, baby?" I asked him softly and I stared at his newly cut hair. He became more and more handsome and his daddy's face couldn't be hidden anymore. He got all of him...

I caressed his soft hair. "Our swimming competition was moved, Mom. And we were given break time to practice. Then I went to Ninan's earlier to cut my hair. Is that okay?" he asked me smiling while tousling his hair.

"You look so handsome with your new haircut today. Did you mean to go home today?" I will ask.

"Ninang Zinky said that you should go home. I was surprised because I expected you to stay there for one week. So I told Ninang to hurry up when she cut my hair." He laughed at what he said and I was infected.

How did that one know that I was back in Manila?

"I'm still like a child every time I know you're coming home and I'm always excited to meet you," he said with a wide smile.

"Mommy is not welcome, baby," I said.

"That's okay, Mom. The important thing is you're safe, now. By the way. Are you free tomorrow? Our swimming competition is tomorrow and they got a judge from Cebu. It's a rush because he'll be back there soon, he's getting married because the judge is here, and it's okay if you can't make it, Mommy." I shook my head.

"I'm always free, just for you, son. Really," I promised. "Do you want to eat our snack outside. Somewhere in the café, Khai? Do you like that?" I asked him. I think I want to eat, but not my cooking or ordering from outside.

"Sure, Mom."

I wore my simple dark brown dress and I wore a brown ankle strap heel sandal. My hair was tied, and I put a light make up on my face with my Gucci handbag.

My son didn't change his uniform because he said he was going back to their school. Even if they only practice. He was excused to their classes after all.

I choose the That Girl's Café, I just saw it today and we passed by earlier. Because its ambiance is beautiful from the outside. But maybe I was just beautified by the color theme of the café. It's big compared to the cafes in Manila. It's only the second floor but he's very big.

Its wall is made of glass so many customers can be seen from inside.

And I'm also curious why the owner named his café That Girl's Café. It's strange. Maybe dedicated to the woman he loves?

I hugged my son's arm when we entered the cafe and the security even smiled at us and I just nodded.

The table inside was almost full because of the customers. Even the organization of the table, chair, and counter is also cute. It's like we're at the beach because apart from blue and white, the color of their structure also has a painting on display. The beach and even the different fishes.

"I love the ambiance," I uttered.

A waiter approached us and guided us to the vacant table.

"Finally," I murmured

"Khai, what if I tell you that...Mommy isn't ready to introduce you to your Daddy yet?" I asked him weakly. I didn't see him shocked, instead his eyes turned dark when he looked at me.

He didn't let go of my hand and I could feel him squeezing it.

"Mom, I'm not forcing you to do that. I can still wait, and I don't think so if that's a good idea knowing him...he already has a fiancé. It will turn out that we're going to make a trouble in their relationship, and Mom...I'll just introduce myself as his daughter. I'm not asking to have a complete family with D-Dad... I'm also not asking him to make us whole. The only mine... even if he has another family... Having him as my father, Mom, that would be fine, my father will just stand there..." he said at length which only softened my heart.

"But seeing you like this... I can handle not knowing him anymore. You are more important to me, Mommy... Your opinion is more important to me, what you will feel when we are in front of him." He's being like this... Understanding..

I can't help myself but to kiss his forehead, lovingly. At the same time, the sound of something breaking echoed throughout the café. The people around it were immediately confused.

"Are you alright, Sir Rykiel?" I heard someone asking him. I had no intention of looking back at him because the noise seemed to be coming from his side and maybe...

But I just saw myself looking at him. His eyebrows were raised and his jaw was still gaping. Some parts of his black slacks got wet and his bodyguards were foaming at the mouth to wipe them and were still confused about not knowing how to dry them.

Our eyes met but I was shocked when he made me hard. What exactly is the problem with this one? Even though I was still confused by the incident, I chose to just eat and talk to my son. He didn't try to look at the noise earlier.

After our snack, I decided to take him to their school since we used my car. But before we even left the café, I saw Khai's and my bodyguards rush in.

I laughed and my son just shook his head. The customer was surprised by their sudden arrival and immediately surrounded us.

"I'm sorry, Fred. It won't happen again," I sincerely apologized to Fred and his teammates. They only responded with a nod. I felt guilty but I really enjoyed when Khai and I went out without a bodyguard following us.

They immediately knew where we were because I never left my phone. It has a tracking device installed on my cellphone.

When we arrived at school, I fixed Khai's necktie and straightened his uniform, which was only a little tangled.

"There," I said. Before I said goodbye that we were leaving, he kissed my cheek. He's a really sweet kid.

"Take care of my Mom, please," he said softly. I chuckled and pinched his nose.

"Come in, baby," I told him. He waved his hand and his bodyguards immediately followed him.

I just watched his back walking away from me with a smile.

"That kid," I uttered and signaled to my companions that we were going home.

I don't drive my car anymore. There were two of them with me and the car of the two was following behind us.

"Don't do that again, son. Fred called me to leave without them," said Dad from the other line. He preaches to me but there is still tenderness in his voice. "You even brought your son with you, Jessel," he added.

Dad looked at me when he heard my laugh. "We're fine, Dad. Khai and I ate snacks at That Girl's Café and we're safe there, and it's also close to our place," I said.

"But please, wherever you go with my grandson, tell your bodyguards first so they don't worry about your mother and I want your safety, the both of you."

"I'm so sorry, Dad. It won't happen again." Dad and I finished talking and just as we arrived at the condo.

We walked to the gymnasium. It is very large because it is also a combination basketball court, and other sports used by students. It is a private school and has elementary, high school and even college but it is still divided. They have a large ground so that at least the student levels don't mix.

I looked around the environment. I also see their parents who are also preparing for this day.

"Of the many parents here... I think you are the youngest." I grinned at what my son said.

Before the battle started, they were given time to practice, so my son was already drenched in water in the morning. Fortunately, he has gotten used to the cold and doesn't catch a cold. I also make sure that he can take his medicine and even his vitamins.

"You can do this, right?" I said and he nodded his head.

"I will give you the medal, Mom," he said with confidence. "But... it's okay if I don't win. Because we know that destiny doesn't give us all the time," he said and I was amazed. He has a different mindset and I like that.

It's just one sign, that I really raised him well. Kind, humble, caring and content with everything.

"Drink a lot of water, baby," I told him.

He guided me to their coach who was talking to two students who might be Khai's teammates.

"Coach," Khai called the guy and he immediately got his attention. He even smiled when he saw her and his eyes shifted to me.

"Can I have a permission to have one chair beside me, coach? I want that for her," he politely asked his coach. "Our bodyguard will stay there," he said and pointed to the standing bodyguards who you would think were not moving because of their posture.

"It's okay, Ryx," he said with a smile followed by a nod. I didn't pay attention to him calling my son even though I thought of someone else every time I heard that nickname. I shook my head and smiled at Khai's coach.

It's younger compared to the coaches I've seen in other teams. I think he's my age or maybe...younger than me.

"Mom, this is our coach," Khai introduced to their coach who did not lose his gaze on me and it also shifted between Khai and me. I saw the ring on her finger. He's already married.

"You love to joke, Ryx. Why do you call your sister like that?" mixed with joking in his question. Instead of being offended, Khai just smiled shyly.

"Hi, I'm Jessel. Thank you for taking care of my Alkhairo," I told him and his lips parted because of what he heard.

"Just call me, Ryle. I don't think we're that far apart in age and about Ryx..." he said and glanced at my son. "He's good," he just said making me nod.

Coach Ryle, he looks like someone too. Familiar to me. I just can't pinpoint it. The other two students stayed by his side and I only now saw their faces.

One has a lot of similarity with Khai's coach. It is also handsome, fair complexioned.

"I think Big Brother, Coach Ryle, is coming early," said one.

I don't know why I suddenly got nervous as I looked at the three who looked almost alike.

Unconsciously, I also looked at Khai and it took a long time so he must have felt my gaze on him.

"Are you alright, Mom?" he asked me and then a man stopped next to me. I was so shocked that I almost backed away.

But I was not surprised by his question.

"Are your types kids like him?" he asked me, there's no emotion written all over handsome face. Why did he ask me that?

And what does he mean? Like...am I becoming a sugar mommy?
