Chapter 6
Arzeil even took me to my suite even though he knew that my bodyguards were with me. Before he said goodnight to me, he even kissed my cheek.
We left Rykiel and Chrysler because they didn't seem to be sleepy yet.
As much as I thought that night, I slept well. I still woke up early the next day and for some unknown reason I first went to the terrace and looked at the closed sliding door on the other side.
What a coincidence. We actually met here and our suite was right next to each other but...I will also go home to Manila. I don't know why I feel sad knowing that... I won't see him again?
Or maybe the next time we meet I will see something that proves that he is married. I'll just wait for that.
I shook my head because of the madness I thought. I took a deep breath.
During my quiet stay on the terrace, I let myself embrace my body with the cold wind hitting my skin and barely glimpsed the sun. He has a beautiful view.
Unexpectedly, I heard Rykiel's voice. I looked at its side.
He was standing not far from my seat. He was wearing a white shirt and his hair was messy but I was used to seeing him in that order. I just didn't follow up for a few years because of our separation.
His face was emotionless and his cold, cold eyes were blank. He was still like this.
"Give me back my cup." I was shocked by what he said. Like that's all? He wants to take it from me right away?
"Uhm, just wait," I said and moved quickly.
I went straight to my hotel room and there was only the cup on the bedside table that still contained last night's coffee but I had finished it. I've washed it too so it's not embarrassing to give it back to him because he's clean.
I went back to the terrace and let my long hair go because the wind was blowing it.
"Here. Again, thank you for the coffee," I said smiling even though my heart was beating so hard.
I can't look at him because it's like my soul is his. He's been staring like this ever since.
He took it from me without struggling to reach my hand. But I was surprised when he held my hand and gave me another cup of coffee. My hands were shaking because of the shock and the feeling of his hand holding me.
I shyly smiled at him and as usual I brought it to my nose and smelled the fragrant aroma of coffee.
"Thank you."
"There is a price for that," he said and stopped my intention to enjoy it. B-Why is there a replacement? I thought it was free?
"Huh?" I said in shock.
"There is a price for that," he repeated what he said.
What is that?"
"I want his name... I want to know that man's name."
Look at the fate... just playful. Until now, He still loves to play and we are the ones he has discussed with us.
Before, there was also something in return for his delivery to me at the waterfall even though he should have made the request then and it was his name that I wanted to know in those days.
"Good morning, sweetheart," Grandma greeted me softly when I woke up the next day.
I passed by his room and he was about to leave. He was only wearing his thick pajamas. It was obvious that he had just woken up but his hair was neatly combed.
"Good morning, Grandma," I smiled and greeted her back and kissed her cheek.
"How was your sleep last night?" she asked me and her hand was already hugging my arm while we were going down the stairs. I'm not sure how many floors my grandmother's hacienda has. Is it in size and height?
"Better, Grandma. Thank you for giving me my own room in your hacienda and I love the way you organized my things inside the room and my walk-in closet. Please take my size and your style ko," I also said softly and the smile on my lips couldn't be erased. I'm so happy because my strict grandmother made an effort. Even though he was not in favor of my Mommy.
I don't know if I said something wrong because his eyebrows crossed. What did I say?
"Dear, of course. You will really have your own room in the hacienda because you are my only granddaughter and bedsides, this is your hacienda too. Someday, you will inherit this hacienda of ours. Your dad is about to retire. So, we'd expect you to handle this... everything he has and mine, too." I was shocked when Grandma said that I will inherit their hacienda.
Oh, I really forgot that I was also an only child, so I expected to inherit everything. Even though I feel like I'm not ready yet, I will try. Just no pressure.
When we arrived at Grandma's large living room, we found Dad sitting on the single sofa with a pillow and reading a magazine. His phone and laptop were on the center table. He also woke up early.
When he noticed our presence, he looked up and smiled when he saw us. Daddy even stood up to greet us both.
"Good morning, Mama... Good morning, son," he greeted us with a kiss on the cheek.
We sat next to each other on my abuela's long sofa while we talked with Dad. The three of us spent a few minutes and a maid approached us politely. It was said that our breakfast was ready.
We happily ate our breakfast and after that I went back to my room to take a shower. Grandma promised me that she would take me with her staff to visit the waterfall.
I'm wearing a white spaghetti strap shirt and light brown short shorts. I chose to wear it because I was planning to take a bath in the waterfall. The one I was wearing that Grandma bought fit me well and also had cute sandals so that's what I wore as well.
My grandmother was very happy to see me and she was even applauding.
You're beautiful, sweetheart. You will inherit from your Grandma," he told me and Dad laughed. "But I want you to change. Even though I want to see you like that, you're sexy but still no for me... Go back to your room, dear and change your cloth. Wear something comfortable without people noticing you quickly . For your own safety," he said strictly.
I scratched my hair that I didn't put in a ponytail because it was still wet. I was so excited that I didn't even bother to dry my hair.
In the end, I wore my baby blue shirt and a dark loose pants. When I came out of my room, Grandma tied my hair back so that it wouldn't get in the way and the wind might blow it away.
"It turns out that Albeo can't because he will accompany you to the ricemill, son," said Grandma to my Daddy. It nodded. "You can't have a girl with you, sweetheart. But that would have been a good idea, but no... The boy Barjo, please call him. I can't be bothered with that boy," he said meaningfully.
I thought that my grandmother was really going to send me with a child because she said the Barjo boy and it turned out to be the teenager I saw yesterday.
He was wearing a brown shirt and black loose pants. He was also wearing his black boots.
Being close to him. I just saw his physical appearance.
His messy hair was pitch black and a few strands of it were on his forehead. His eyebrows are thick and his eyelashes are also long, they are also fluffy. His chocolate colored eyes are cold and very impressive. The way he stared was terrifying.
I'm right. He is very handsome up close. I have seen many handsome men in our university and I have also met a few actors and models, but there are more than their facial appearance. I just proved to myself that there are more handsome men than I've ever met and it's like I'm standing in front of an angel.
He's a young boy because I'm sure something will change about him, his build and even his height.
Son, this is my only granddaughter, Jessel. Call her Señorita Jessel. Please take care of her. Join him at the waterfall and you won't be there long. Before lunch you should both be at the hacienda, is that clear?" Grandma said to him. She is really strict.
The man even glanced at me and for some unknown reason I suddenly got nervous. His handsome face was expressionless and his eyes were still cold.
"It will follow, Donya Jessebelle," he said politely. I think the hair on the back of my neck stood up because even his voice was as cold as ice.
"Enjoy sweetheart." I also said goodbye to Dad and kissed the top of my head.
I know I'm only a few of him or maybe he too so I tried to talk to him.
"I'm Jessel. Just call me by my name instead of Señorita--"
"Miss." I was surprised because he cut me off and called me Señorita. I'm not used to being called that but why don't I intend to disobey him and just let him call me Señorita?
Why?" I stuttered and held my chest to calm my pounding heart.
Let's go," he simply said and walked ahead.
I thought we would use the horse but it turns out not. We'll just walk. I won't complain anymore. This is also an exercise for me.
A few minutes passed and we were still walking. He was in the lead since he knew where the waterfall was so I stayed behind him.
He is very quiet and looks like a snob.
"There is something in return for you going with me today," I said out of nowhere. That's why he stopped and stared at me. He's so hard to read that I don't know if he's interested in knowing what I'm asking in return.
"What?" But he still asked. So he might be interested too.
"What's your name? It's not fair because it's just my name--hey wait up!" I shouted because he turned his back on me and continued walking with big steps. I think he will leave me!
One of my Grandma's staff was right because the area we are passing through today is crowded. There were many rocks and it was slippery because of the moss. A few of them will also be sharp.
I almost cried because I was afraid that I would step on the slippery rock and I survived. Second we will go through the mud.
The teenager was ignoring me but now he was right behind me and it looked like he was just getting ready to catch me if I lost my balance. Or maybe I'm just assuming.
Before we reached the waterfall, my sweat soaked my shirt. Even in the morning I was already sweating. I just worked out at the gym.
"Rykiel... My name is Rykiel Eryx Barjo..." I lost myself for a moment
Talking to his dad
I want his name... I want to know that man's name."
"Why?" I asked him and I stared into his deep eyes. I want to know the truth if why he seems interested...
That's just his name and I know he'll be surprised if I tell him the truth. Or maybe he thinks I'm going crazy or that I'm playing tricks on him again. I want him to ask him too why he doesn't know me? Or why he doesn't seem to remember me anymore?
The main question, does he still remember me?
Did he have a car accident and got amnesia too? So he really has no idea who I am? What was my role in his life then? Who was he in my life then?
Because... he wouldn't ask his own name if he really remembered something. I just don't know how he can say that he might know my ex-husband.
I smiled bitterly at the thought. He forgets me so easily. Uh, me? I was suffering so much that he chose to walk away and return me to my parents. Because he said he couldn't.
He is used to hardship but not with me...
"Curiosity is deadly. Sometimes, you will choose not to know everything nor a single piece of information, not knowing things that can hurt your feelings," I said seriously. "
"I don't understand you, Mr. Barjo. Why are you interested in knowing the name of my ex-wife? You don't know me. So, why?" I asked him.
"Because... I might know him." I laughed at what he said. Of course, he knows himself. But he doesn't have any idea who he really is.
"Don't ask me that, Mr. Barjo, because you will never like it when I tell you about him... Nevermind." I left him there confused and so that my spirit would not return to the past or the next day, I ordered Sabel to buy a plane ticket and go home to Manila.
