CHAPTER 7

Scarlet was too shocked to move a little but the next thing she knew, she was already in his car. She blinked her eyes in disbelief that something so fast could happen in a split second. Was he truly a vampire? When she glanced at the man, his face was unreadable.

“Let me go!” She screamed at him, but the man revved up the engine of his car and sped off. She screamed as loud as she could because he drove like a devil was chasing them, but when she looked around, she realized that it was the sunlight that was chasing them.

“Shut up!” Sebastian warned Scarlet because her voice started to piss him off. She was so loud, and her behaviour tested his patience. When she didn’t stop screaming, he suddenly pulled over, and in the process, the woman lost her control and her face suddenly fell onto his crotch. All of a sudden, he realized something unusual happening to his body. He never felt so alive for several years, but when he glanced at the woman beside her, he immediately regretted his decision. She stared daggers at him!

“Why are you looking at me like that? Did you expect me to be surprised at your size?” Scarlet asked insolently.

Sebastian clenched his jaw as he stared at the woman. “Did I ask if you were impressed? I didn’t! It came from you so maybe you are impressed, am I correct?”

“What are you talking about?” Scarlet asked while glaring at Sebastian, but at the same time, her eyes darted to that part again, and she was so embarrassed when he caught her staring at his package. “Look, I am just curious, okay? If I stared, it didn’t mean anything, so don’t expect too much, sir.”

Sebastian laughed at the woman when she tried so hard to explain her side. “Defensive, aren’t you?”

Scarlet rolled her eyes at the man who seemed to be enjoying her discomforts. She arched her eyebrows towards him before rolling her eyes. “I don’t know what is your plan about me sir, but I think it’s better for you to take me back home right now,” she warned Sebastian.

“Not now,” he replied briefly.

“Why? What do you want from me?” She needed answers but the man casually ignored him while speeding up his vehicle.

“Your blood,” he announced without feeling any guilt or remorse, and when he looked at her, he expected to see her scared expression. However, it wasn’t the case. She was not terrified at all! She even glared her beautiful doll eyes at him, and for a moment, he was mesmerized by her beauty. Nevertheless, he shouldn’t let his thoughts wander into something else, or he was bound to get heartbroken again.

“My blood? Are you going to suck me dry?”

“Hmmm depends on my mood. Will you please stop asking questions? You distract me from driving,” he said.

“Are you worried to be in an accident? Whoa, I can’t believe you! What about me? You just said you are going to need my blood, and it’s like declaring to kill me, and yet, you are worried to get into an accident? Damn you, Sebastian Kensington!”

Sebastian flared his nostrils upon hearing her curse and suddenly pulled over. “You and your arrogance will get you nowhere but death!”

“This is the 21st century! For goodness sake, you and your fellow vampires should have perished a long time ago!”

“And what about the likes of you, Miss Scarlet Morgan?”

Suddenly, she stopped talking and stared into his eyes, then she noticed how they abruptly changed their colour. She furrowed her brows while staring at him, but then he became normal again. “W-what do you mean by the likes of me?”

“You’re not scared at all, and it’s the normal reaction from an ordinary person,” Sebastian implied that she was special. Actually, he suspected that she was special, and that’s the reason why he insisted on taking her into his mansion. Earlier, he noticed the bracelet she was wearing and it looked familiar to him. Gradually, he lowered his eyes to check on her accessory, and it was still there.

“Why would I be scared? You wouldn’t bite in broad daylight, right?”

“Who knows?”

“No, you wouldn’t dare,” Scarlet insisted that Sebastian would find it hard to kill her in broad daylight. Besides, there would be a living witness to the crime! However, what if Caden Lockwood had been Sebastian’s accomplice even before?

“It depends on your behaviour,” he said before speeding up again, and the woman grabbed for his arm to get a little support. “Seatbelt,” he reminded her.

Scarlet rolled her eyes once more, but the man’s action rendered her speechless throughout the journey. Then, he stopped in front of a mansion. “Is this where you live?” She asked while referring to the modern design of the home, contrary to his ancient age and belief.

“During the day,” he said.

“And at night?”

“There’s another place,” he answered. “I may be a vampire to some, Scarlet, but I’m a businessman during the day,” he informed her. “My secretary just resigned for some justifiable reason, and I need a replacement. Fortunately, I stumbled upon you.”

“Liar,” she accused him, and the smirk on his face was a sign of confirmation that she was correct. The man lied about the secretary who resigned! “I don’t know why you are putting so much effort to take me from my father.”

“Because I’m going to need you,” he responded in a monotone before turning off the engine and going outside first. Then, he helped her to get out of his vehicle.

“Wait. The sunlight,” she exclaimed as soon as she noticed the rays of the sun slowly coming out from the highest mountain near them.

“Are you worried I might burn into ashes?”

“Yes. I don’t want to be framed for murdering you, sir.”

“Silly. The sun can’t kill me,” he assured the woman that he would be alright under the blazing heat of the sun.

“Why not? You are a vampire!”

“Because I am special…just like you,” he replied. “Come on,” he said while taking her hand into his.

At first, Scarlet didn’t want to entrust her hand to a vampire, but as soon as she saw a lot of men slowly coming out to greet them, she was terrified. “Who are they?”

“My servants,” he answered. “You will become one of them soon.”

“No way!”

“You don’t have a choice, dear,” Sebastian said, and while holding onto her hands, they walked towards the main door, and he was right about Sasha waiting at the foyer. His sister remained pretty all these years, but she couldn’t stay much longer under the sun. “Lockwood’s daughter,” he introduced Scarlet to Sasha, who in turn, just arched the tip of her perfectly shaped brows. “Scarlet, this is my sister, Sasha.”

For a moment, Scarlet stared at the gorgeous woman who waited for them at the foyer. She looked sophisticated and elegant in her black dress. “I’m Scarlet Miss Sasha. Can you help me? Your brother kidnapped me from my father’s home,” she informed Sasha about the truth, and the woman looked up to the tall man beside her.

“No, I didn’t kidnap her, Sasha. She’s just like anyone else to us; food,” he explained.

“Sebastian! I told you we’re fine with animal blood, so why do you keep on harassing the humans? Please stop! This is not like you, Seb,” Sasha pleaded with her stubborn brother.

“Time flies so fast and I have changed,” Sebastian said before walking out, with Scarlet on his side. “Let’s go to your room,” he stated.

“No,” she continued to refuse and demanded to be taken back to her father’s home, but every time, she would make a request, he decided not to listen. She expected Sasha to help her cause, but the woman seemed to follow Sebastian’s order, whether right or wrong.

“I’m warning you, Scarlet,” Sebastian said while gritting his teeth in the process.

“This is totally unfair! How can you bring me here and do nothing?”

“Who said you’re going to be idle here? There’s a lot of things to do here, Scarlet, and I doubt if you can handle it.”

“What if I can’t?”

“Then you will be useless,” he clarified something about the importance of her position in his household.

“And?”

“Useless people must be killed, Scarlet,” he answered and she gasped in surprise.
