Chapter 6 - Childhood Crush

"Caine! Caine, wake up! You're having a nightmare!"

I immediately wake up when I felt like someone's shaking me. I was catching my breathe and my body is sweating so hard. That was just a dream. It's the first time that I dreamed of him ever since I came here. He appeared again.

I sighed heavily."I'm sorry for disturbing you, Becca. I-I was just dreaming the past. I'm okay now."

"The past? Can you tell me what happened? Is it a painful one or not? I almost ask for help after hearing you shouting." Her brows furrowed and sat on my bed.

I nodded slightly."It's just my childhood memories... with my childhood crush. I'm finding him for almost 11 years now and I'm still searching for him. He said he'll comeback but he didn't."

"Hey, don't be sad. Don't think about it anymore. I don't want to offend you but... he might have forgotten you. If a person promised you to comeback and then he/she didn't made his/her promise, it's either they forgot their promise or they forgot the person they promised," she said in a lower voice.

I bowed a little because of what she said."B-But... I'm still hoping that one day he will come back for me. If he won't, then I'll be the one to find him. He promised, Becca. He must fulfill it because that's the only thing I'm holding on until now."

It was 11 years ago when he left me to study abroad. I let him because studies is our first priority and then our family before us. He's the only person I could lean on. The person who stayed by my side no matter what. The one who makes me feel comfortable like he's my home.

When he promised that he will come back, I hold on to it. Because he's the type of person who doesn't know how to lie. He will keep that promise. Whatever happens, I will find him.

"What's your plan now? Where are you going to start finding your childhood crush?" she asked unknowingly after entering my office.

I shrugged my shoulers, don't know what to do."As far as I know, his parents sent him to Denmark for his studies. I didn't receive a call or even a text from him right after he left. We were still kids that time and using gadgets is highly forbidden to us."

"There's a big possibility that he's still there or he already moved to the other place. I'm sure he had finished his studies and got a great job now," she stated her opinion.

My expression became disappointed."What if he got a girlfriend now?! It's unfair! I didn't entertain suitors because we promised each other that we'll marry at the right age. I'm gonna kill him if ever!"

"Hush, calm down. Stop overthinking. During my break time, I'll help you search for him. What's his name, by the way?"

I scoffed because of that."Uh... I-I only know his nickname. We both called each other by our nickname. I don't even know his surname."

"Jesus Christ! How are we going to find him, then?" she asked in disbelief.

She immediately get out of my office when we heard the speaker outside, paging all the workers in this company. Even if I'm curious about it, there were tons of papers in my table and I have to finish it as soon as possible. I'll just ask Rebecca what is it for when she come back.

My brows creased when I saw nothing written on the schedules for today. I tried to open the computer and checked my email if there are companies who emailed me to set for an appointment for Mr. Willson but there aren't. What's wrong? This company has always investors and we always accept schedules for meeting. There's no day that the schedules were empty.

To make things sure, I went to Mr. Willson's office to ask for it. I might be dead if it's just on the computer or I didn't check it clearly. Its better if I will ask him by myself.

"Sorry for disturbing you, sir. I just want to ask why does the other companies weren't emailing us. Usually, there were more than 50 companies that wants to be our investors and partners in business. But now... they were all empty," I said confusingly.

He looked at me intently and gestured to sit on the couch."Didn't you read the schedules of the workers in our company, Caine? Today's August 15 and every 15th and 25th of the month, all of the workers will have their break. So, supposedly the company will be off for today."

I was a little bit shocked when I heard him said my name but I just set it aside. I'm not yet used to it. H-He's still my boss so it's kinda awkward.

"Are you saying that you declined all the offers of the other companies? As in... all of it?" I asked, still processing what he said.

He nodded and continued cleaning his table."Hmm, you can rest too but don't get out of the company. Stay inside and do what you want."

What?! I thought he's going to give us a break? Isn't it our decision to do what we want and choose a place where we want to go? But he's still demanding me. Ugh. He's being annoying.

"Okay, sir. Maybe I'll just play with the computer or take a nap since I'm bored here," I said boringly.

He raised his eyebrow at me."Don't you want the freedom I gave you? You can tell me so that I'll pass to you all my works."

My childhood crush suddenly flashed on my mind so I shook my head in an instant. Oh, right! Seems like I'm going to have time to find for him. Maybe Becca can help me too since we're both on a break. She said that she's willing to help me if she has a lot of time. Gotcha!

"N-No, sir. Thank you. I'll go back to my office now." I gave him a small smile before walking towards the door.

I excitedly opened the computer when I get inside my office and thinking what to search. Becca was right to the part that it's hard to find him in the internet. I only know his nickname as KJ and nothing more. Besides, there were a lot of people that named KJ. How am I going to find him?

'Try to remember something about him. His favorites or whatsoever'

I read her text and lean my back on my swivel chair. I turned it around and around, forcing myself to remember anything about him from my past. But no matter how I tried, all I could remember is that. We don't really use our real name before. The time that we met, we introduced ourselves using our nicknames. He's KJ and I'm Cai.

"Caine, are you busy?" The door suddenly opened and it revealed him so I stood up from my chair in just a second.

I even felt dizzy for goodness sake! He doesn't have manners! Why didn't he knock my door first?!

I glared at him because of irritation."I think there's a rules that you should knock the door first before entering. Right?"

"Should I say sorry about that? I'm reminding you that it's my building so I don't have to follow the rules which I made by myself," he answered proudly.

"How could the other workers follow the rules if the CEO who made those didn't even follow it all? You're not a good influencer." I shook my head as if I was disappointed by his actions.

His step were so fast like a lightning and he appeared in front of me immediately."Teach me how, then. I believe that the secretary shouldn't correct the CEO because he's the boss all in all."

I gulped and looked away when I felt it again. The different tension. I walked towards the sofa and sat in there properly.

"Why are you here, Knox? You said everyone's on a brea---"

"What did you just called me?" He walked faster towards me again so I stood up to avoid him.

I crossed my arms over my chest and pretended that I was looking at the furnitures."N-Nothing. Just tell me what exactly do you need."

"I heard it, Caine. You called me by my name. Sounds music to my ears, huh?" he said sexily.

"You heard me wrong, Mr. Willson. I didn't say that," I denied so fast.

He didn't let me go so we're like walking in every corner of the room. I kept on avoiding him while he's walking near me, annoying the hell out of me. It's just a name, though. Why is it like he's making it a big deal?!

Is his name sacred or what?

"Okay, fine! What do you really need and you're here inside my office?" I fight the urge to stare at him.

He licked his lower lip and smirked."I just missed your... sweet scent. You smells like a blooming flower, Caine."

He's lighting up the fire! Damn it!
