“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU ?!” asked a baritone voice. At the same time, the sound of Snow's broken glass shattered.
She could barely breathe when she saw the angry look of the man's face. The man was a mestizo, with thick eyebrows, a pointed nose, good lip shape and seemingly expressive eyes. There was a bonus dimple on his left cheek that came out even when he was just talking and not smiling. He would have looked like an angel who had come down to earth if he had not been insulted her like that.
"S-Snow," she introduced herself.
“Do you think I am interested to know what your name is? Who are you? Who brought you in here? Are you a new maid? There is a kitchen in the maid's house.”
Snow's head automatically got hot. "I'm not a maid here," she replied calmly even though she wanted to shout at the man. As time went on she remembered his name. It was Jason San Gabriel. There was not much gossip about him because he was elusive but now she knew why the media did not want to talk about him. He was not well-mannered. The women who were screaming to be noticed by him should think twice. He was not as great as the media was picturing him.
"In that case, what are you doing here?" he asked, still frowning and looking like she would be slapped if she did not answer correctly.
"She was Sir Elissus' guest," Andrew said as he reached the kitchen. Snow did not even realized that Andrew was there because she was furious with Jason.
"Guest?" he smirked. "Are you my grandfather's concubine?"
To Snow's annoyance, she pulled him by the collar. Whatever insult he threw at her, just don't call her a hooker, homewrecker, mistress or a kept woman. “You're overdoing it, huh? You call me a maid, I ignored it. But concubine? What is this, the time of the king and queen? Yes, you are rich and I am poor but I will not lower my dignity just to take advantage of anyone!” After her speech, she pushed the rude man and walked out of the kitchen. It was up to Andrew to explain why she was in that mansion.
But Snow did not go straight to her room but to the backyard. There was no one in the pool area so she took advantage of it. She sat down at the poolside and dipped her foot in the water. She did not realize she was crying. If the tears had not yet dripped down her thighs, she would not have noticed them.
That day was too long for her. From her father's funeral, stepmother's eviction and sudden residence in the San Gabriel mansion. Very long and very heavy day. All she wanted to do was to go to sleep and end that day. But fate still deprived her of that. "I'm just asking for sleep, you still don't want to give it to me?" she said to herself while crying.
That Jason made her day worst than ever. She thought her stepmother was enough to ruin her day, but she was wrong. There was more! Yes, Anastasia suspected her but that was not as painful as Jason confronted him. That jerk!
"Aren't you tired of crying?"
Snow looked up and a familiar face greeted her. It was the guy from the cemetery! Snow wiped the tears from her cheeks before speaking. "Are you a San Gabriel too?"
"Cole San Gabriel," he introduced himself then sat down next to her and imitated her by dipping his foot in the pool.
She had never heard of this Cole. She thought she knew all the San Gabriels. "Snow," she also introduced herself.
"What are you doing here?"
"Passing resentment."
“No, I mean in this house. Are you a maid here? ”
Maid again? "I'm a guest here…" And Snow told Cole the whole story. Why were they not there when Tatay Eli would have introduced her earlier? It was also tiring to explain over and over again. How many times does she have to repeat the story? She was tired by now.
"They are really like that here, judicious, train yourself," said Cole.
She was startled by the bitterness in his voice. "You also became a victim of their judgment?"
He ignored what she said so she just asked again. "Your family is famous, why I had never heard about you? Have you lived in the States for a long time like Anastasia?”
Cole just smiled and then stood up. "See you around, Snow."
Snow was frowning while watching Cole walked away. Cole looked rude but he really wasn't. Maybe he was just really irritated by her noise in the cemetery earlier. Yet he was very mysterious. Why didn't she knew him? Maybe she was just not too obsessed with the San Gabriels. Maybe those who would die for a glimpse of the San Gabriels knew Cole.
“Miss Snow? Sir Andrew is calling you,” said a very beautiful creature wearing a maid's uniform. "Miss Snow?"
Snow smiled. "Are you cosplaying?"
"Yes?"
Snow giggled. "Nothing," she said then stood up. She followed the woman. As she walked, she still could not believe that the woman was a maid there. Why was she working in there if she can audition on TV networks as an actress?
She thought that only Anastasia was beautiful in that mansion. "What's your name?" she asked the woman after taking a step so that they could walk together.
"Cindy, Miss Snow," the woman replied with a smile. Her dimples were pretty. If she was a man, Cindy was her type. Mestiza, simple and looking very kind.
“Just 'Snow', Cindy. Besides, you look a few years older than me. Ate Cindy is what I will call you,” she said kindly to the woman.
"Oh, Don Elissus and Sir Andrew will scold me."
"Tatay Eli won't scold you but maybe Andrew will," she joked to the woman. She laughed too.
"If it's just us, I'll just call you Snow but if Don Elissus is here, I should be polite."
"Deal!"
In the living room, Andrew was waiting for her. Cindy left them immediately. "I'm sorry for what Jason did. That person just doesn’t really know the word diplomacy. I'm really sorry— ”
"You did nothing to me so don't be sorry," she told Andrew. She tapped his shoulder and said goodbye as well. "Good night, Andrew."
SNOW was awakened and quickly got up when she woke up in an unfamiliar room. She just calmed down when she remembered what had happened the day before. She was in the mansion of the San Gabriels.
It was only six o'clock in the morning according to the digital clock on the bedside table. However, she adjusted herself and then went down to the kitchen. She wanted to help prepare breakfast.
Because Cindy was in the kitchen, she was allowed to help. Cindy was supposed to take care of Andrew, she told the other housemates who were there, to let her help. While cooking, Cindy and Snow talked. Cindy's grandmother was said to be the oldest maid in that mansion and Cindy also grew up there.
Cindy have been able to study and have been in college for a few years but stopped as her grandmother became sick. Her grandmother was her only family so she has no choice but to sacrifice. Tatay Eli also said that Cindy's grandmother agreed to stay there even though she was no longer working so Cindy could not really leave. In addition, Tatay Eli helped in her grandmother's treatment.
"Don Elissus is kind, I don't know why not all his grandchildren inherited his kindness," said Cindy with a shudder.
"I will guess who's the worst San Gabriel," Snow said.
"Who?"
"Jason?"
"Have you met them all?" instead Cindy asked.
"Not yet."
Cindy laughed. "Get to know them all first and then give them a rating."
After cooking, Snow happily observed their preparations. It was just a pity that Tatay Eli had breakfast alone. "Eat with me, Snow," Tatay Eli invited her.
"Where are your grandchildren?"
“I can't eat with them. Their waking hours are different. ”
"I will wake Anastasia," she suggested. At least one of his grandchildren can keep up with it.
"Don't bother. That one wakes up late. Come on, let's eat. ”
Snow just obeyed the old man. The length of the table and the amount of food but only two of them. What was that house? After Tatay Eli ate, he left as well. He said he will visit at the house in Cavite.
With the size of that house, Snow was bored. Very quiet. She wanted to go back to the convenience store but it would be embarrassing for Tatay Eli if she just slept in his mansion. She will just wait for Anastasia to wake up because that was her mission in that place.
In the living room on the second floor, she waited but it was too long already. She was about to knock the woman's door when she remembered Tatay Eli's order not to wake Anastasia.
She lowered her hand that was about to knock on the door. "Hi!" Snow almost jumped in shock. Her eyes widened when she saw Sebastian. "Are you Snow?"
She just nodded without a wink. Sebastian San Gabriel was super handsome in person. His skin was milky in color and his lips are very red. His brown eyes were like a magnet pulling her. Most of all, he has no pores!
She touched her own face like a fool. She was envious of Sebastian's smoothness. That was why many women were adoring him. Physically, he was perfect. There was no San Gabriel that was not beautiful or handsome. It was in their genes.
"Hi, Snow!" the man came out of the room near the stairs greeted her. That was Adam San Gabriel. This one also has a big fan club, even if he was not an actor. It was because he was the friendliest according to the rumors that reached her.
"How did you know me?" she asked the two.
"Andrew left a memo already," said Sebastian. "He explained everything to us."
Andrew was very efficient. Probably because of what happened last night. "Do you want to eat?"
“I will be late for my call time if I eat. We'll talk later, Snow. Bye!” Sebastian ran down the stairs, he did not wait for her to respond.
He just turned to Adam. "How about you?"
"Come, eat with me." Adam said.
Even though she had breakfast already, Snow still accompanied Adam. “You don't really eat together?” she asked Adam.
Snow slowly slipped the papaya on her plate because she was still full. She just felt that she needed to get to know the San Gabriels, not to blossom her love life but to make them realize their shortcomings in their grandfather.
"Yes."
“I'm sorry, huh? I don't want to meddle, I just noticed that your grandfather was sad as he was eating alone. ”
Adam stared at her and then smiled sadly. "It's impossible for us to eat together."
"Even just for your grandfather?"
When Adam did not respond, Snow changed the topic. She noticed that he seemed to have lost his appetite. "Are you going straight to your restaurant after you eat?"
"Yes."
"You're all busy here, aren't you?"
“Not everyone. Just look at my cousin, Dylan, only partying. Well, you can say he's busy. Busy wasting our family's money for nothing. ”
"I haven't met him yet."
“If you ever meet him, don't talk to him, okay? I can't believe Andrew didn't warn you about Dylan. ”
Snow smiled. "Noted."
They talked until Adam finished eating. The rumor was correct, he was friendly. She walked the man to the garage and there she met Caleb San Gabriel. The latter was getting in the car.
Caleb nodded at her as if he already knew her. She could not even speak because of his intimidating aura. Caleb was able to drive away quickly. "That one does not really likes talking," said Adam when he noticed that she was stunned by Caleb.
She smiled at Adam. "Be careful driving."
“Thank you. See you later. ”
