JASON was silently watching Cole parked his motorbike in front of the house. He was on the terrace on the second floor, drinking alone because he was not in the mood to go out. He grinned as he watched Cole's passenger ride down from the motorcycle, Snow. It seemed like his half-brother was interested with the girl. His brother's taste still didn't really change, he liked ordinary-looking women. He smirked.
Snow looked plain for him. She was nothing compared to all the women he dated or had flings before. The only women he endured dating were those women Cole dated. Because everything he wanted, woman or anything, he made sure he gets.
He swore to himself to do everything so that Cole would not be happy for the rest of his life. He stole his happiness, his family's peace, he will do the same to him. If it weren't for Cole, his family might be happy and not wrecked.
He was stiffened when he remembered his mother. His mother was suffering alone. He wanted to be with her but she refused. She instructed her to give her grandfather what he wanted, for them to be together under one roof. His grandfather has a heart condition and he feared that he will disappear from the world at any time. He told them that he wanted to spend the remaining of his life with his grandchildren.
Jason hated his father but he always loved his grandfather. Even though it was against his will to stay there, he still gave in to the old man. There were only two people in the world who were important to him: his mom and grandfather.
After five cans of beer, he left the terrace to find Snow. In the kitchen he found her but she was not alone. The woman was still with his brother. They chat at the kitchen counter while eating fruits.
He tried to examine the situation. The way Cole was looking at Snow, he can say that both of them were attracted to each other. "Easy," he thought to himself. That's for Snow.
She only met his brother once and yet she was attracted to him now. She was no different from the women hanging out at the bar. Maybe she felt that Cole liked her so she was just riding. Whoever caught a San Gabriel, her future was certain. Clever Snow… She looked innocent but she was smart. She was not rich so she probably also wanted to get on with life. He could not blame her but he still would not let her plan succeed, even more that Cole chose to stick with her.
Whatever Cole wants, Jason gets. That he was sure of. Snow was easy anyway. She looked easy to attract. When he heard Cole say goodbye to Snow, he hid in the dark part outside the kitchen.
When Cole came out of the kitchen, he immediately went in there to corner Snow in. Their first meeting did not go well and it seemed that pretending to be nice will not work. So he acted the jerk that he was.
“Looks like the heaven was at your side. Is this your plan? Flirt with any of my cousins so you don't have to leave this house?” he conceitedly asked with a smirk on his lips.
Instead of being offended, Snow just smiled at him. He backed away when she approached him. They were so close he could smell her breath, it was citrusy. “What do you care about my plans? Are you jealous? Do you want me to flirt with you more than your brother? ”
Jason smiled. It was obvious that Snow was just bluffing. It was obvious in her eyes. It was his turn to scare her. He held her face with both hands. He brought her closer to his body. The only barrier between them was her hands resting on his chest.
Her courage vanished like a bubble and was replaced by confusion. "What if I said yes?" he asked the woman.
"Let me go," she commanded firmly but he did not obey.
“My brother is slow, your plan with him will not work. Just be mine.”
Snow's eyes widened because of what he said. Jason suppressed a grin at the woman's reaction. When she recovered, she hit his head with her head so he let go. "You're really crazy, jerk!" she said furiously.
"I'm just helping you out!"
"Jerk!"
“You want to be an instant princess? I can give that to you. I'm richer than him. ”
"But Cole was more decent than you," she said before pushing him once to walk out.
He watched her walked away with a conceited grin on his face. He cannot accept the last statement she said. Decent? Was an illegitimated child more decent than him? He was shaken. That Snow was testing him.
She looked at him as if she hated him, he would make sure that soon the way she looked at him would change. "Just hold on, Snow, hold on tight because I'm sure you'll fall into my trap too," Jason said to himself.
"REALLY DISGUSTING!" Snow whispered when she was alone in the room. Will she meet Jason San Gabriel every night and he will ruin everything beautiful in her day?
He did nothing but judge her. Last night, she was his grandfather's concubine. Now, she was flirting with his brother. What a jerk!
Maybe that was how people who has a lot of issues in life were, they were losing their sanity and they can only see the ugly in the world. But she and Cole, they were also going through something, why didn't they lose their sanity like Jason?
After all, Snow must have been worse off in the world because both her parents were taken from her and left her with her evil stepmother. She was crammed into that mansion because she was evicted even though she was doing nothing wrong.
Maybe people reacted differently to each tests that came along. Others go through it with laughter, crying, being a better person. In Jason's case, by destroying other people's day and night. He didn't want to see other people happy because he was miserable. That was the kind of jerk he was. He was the most heartless man she ever knew. And her only wish in that moment was not to cross their paths again, the mansion was too big anyway. They can hide and seek.
"Lord, please, take me away from that slave of the darkness…"
