Chapter 6- Marriage contract

*Maya's POV*

"Marry you??" I blurted out in shock as I stared widely at him.

"Yes, marry me!" The boss repeated with a Stern voice.

"I can't marry you!" I retorted back.

"You have no choice, my dear," he replied.

"You need to be my wife to be accepted into the syndicate. I will be able to protect you well if you're my wife" he explained.

"What if I don't want to join the syndicate anymore?" I asked.

"Too late. You've agreed already. The moment you entered my car and followed us to this place, you turned yourself in. You can't go back now" he replied with a deadly tone.

"But I can't marry. You're old for me, old enough to be my uncle or probably my father" I said frustrated.

"I'm just forty" he reminded me.

"Still old for me" I replied.

"I don't care! You're getting married to me and that's final. Or do you want to die?" He asked coldly.

"What? Die?" I asked in shock.

For the first time since all this began, I felt fear in me. He must have seen the fear on my face.

"Afraid now?" He asked and grinned widely.

"You just need to marry me and you'll have all the fame, power and wealth in the world" he said softly.

"I think I'm left with no choice here, it's either I marry you or I die" I said.

"That's why I like you," the boss laughed.

"You're such a smart girl," he added.

"Okay then, I'll marry you" I whispered.

What was I doing?

I started to regret ever running away from home.

"What did you say?" He asked.

"I said, I'll marry you" I replied boldly.

"Perfect" he screamed and clapped.

"I don't know your name yet" I said.

"Henry. I'm Henry Alonzo" he replied.

"But I'm known as Pablo Escobar in the Magaddino crime family," he added.

My mouth opened in shock.

The Magaddino crime family?

I've heard of it before and the Magaddino crime family was a terror to the nation.

How did I end up here?

And I'm about to be the wife of one of the higher ups in the syndicate?

"Heard of it before?" He asked.

"No" I lied.

"Now let's finalize this marriage stuff" he said and flicked his finger.

A guard walked to his table and picked a paper up.

"Here" he said, coming over to me and giving me the paper.

"Our marriage contract," the boss explained.

I collected the file from the bodyguard with shaky hands. I skimmed through it and read the offer, it was favorable.

"Are you okay with it?" The boss asked.

"Even if I wasn't okay with it, do I have a choice?" I said inwardly.

"Yes" I replied to him and he nodded.

"Sign then" the boss said and the bodyguard handed me a pen. I took the pen from him and signed, returning the file back to the bodyguard. He took it to the boss, and the boss nodded his head after going through it.

"You're now my wife," he said triumphantly.

"Get ready for a court wedding" the boss told me.

"But first, there are people you need to meet," he told me.

Henry dialed a number on his phone. The number picked up instantly like he'd been waiting for the call.

"Report to my office immediately!" The boss instructed and ended the call.

Few minutes later, the door opened and a young, very good looking guy walked in. I wasn't really able to get a clear view of his face though.

"Boss" the guy greeted and bowed.

"There's someone I'd like you to meet," the boss said.

"Meet Maya, my wife. Take her and teach her everything she needs to know about the syndicate, ``the boss instructed.

"Okay boss" the guy said and looked up.

Then I saw him! I recognized him! He was my childhood friend, Bryan. He was Mia's crush, she was head over heels in love with him but he liked me instead. I was aware that he liked me but then I didn't care, I liked only Nicholas.

Then he left the village while I was fifteen. He was eighteen then. Mia had been so devastated when he left.

I saw his eyes widened in shock, he recognized me too! But then he quickly averted his gaze and bowed.

"At your service Madam" he said.

Madam?

Did he just refer to me as Madam?

Someone he's older than?

"Wow" I said inwardly.

"Maya, he's Bryan. He'll be the one to tutor you. I trust him and that's why I'm assigning him to you, ``the boss said.

"Okay, boss," I replied.

"Call me Henry," he said and smiled. I nodded.

"Now proceed to the meeting room" Henry instructed.

"I need to introduce Maya to the family," Henry said.

"Okay boss," his men said and bowed.

Henry stood up slowly from his chair. The bodyguard waited till he left the room before trailing after him. I walked behind till Henry pulled me to his side. All this while, Bryan kept staring at me secretly.

The bodyguard opened a room and we all walked in. There was a big plasma TV on the wall. The room was beautiful, it had three comfortable couches in it.

"Alert the rest that we have a meeting right now, I have someone to introduce to them" Henry instructed one of the guards and he did as he was told.

Henry picked a remote and turned on the TV, his face appeared on the large screen. Soon, I saw strange faces on the large screen.

"Pablo Escobar, why the sudden meeting?" An old man said, he's looking really old.

"Boss," Henry said and bowed.

Judging from the way he showed his respect, I guessed the old man was higher than Henry in the syndicate.

"Pablo Escobar" the rest of them greeted.

"Sorry for the urgent meeting. I have someone to introduce to you all" Henry said and summoned me to come closer.

I came and sat beside him and my face showed on the screen.

"Who's she?" The old man asked.

"She's my new wife and she'd be joining us in the syndicate," Henry announced.

"Your new wife?" A woman putting on a black blouse with red hair exclaimed in surprise.
