Chapter three: Alpha Jacob

JACOB KINGSTON

"Alpha we have added the security at our borders" my beta informed me. I nodded and simply said, "Good". We were discussing measures on improving our security. As always more security and to be put in place. He watched me for a few minutes and left. Alex was more of my best friend, he tolerated my moods and bad temper. He's always been there for me.

The vampires attacks were getting worse and I did my best to prevent any of the humans from getting hurt. I always tried to protect them cause I knew my wolves could take on the vampires.

I don't even know why Sean insists on attacking and growing our enmity. This was my town. It was called Kingston town for a reason. It belonged to my family. They have been in charge of the town for centuries. At first humans didn't know about us until Sean and his vampires came along.

The vampires first came here twenty years ago. They came in peace apparently. My brother, Alpha Kaden, allowed them to reside here. But six years later they betrayed us and killed him with the beta and started attacking us. I became alpha with immediate effect.

For five years we continued killing each of our species until I had to come up with a solution. It was more of a sacrifice and compromise. I gave them half of my town and had to reduce the pack lands so that those humans could have a home.

But it still wasn't enough for the vampire king. Oh no, he wanted complete control of my town. He wanted us all to bow down to him. But I was born from two alphas I would never bow down to any body much less a mere vampire.

"Just make sure that they don't come near us... and if they do kill them" I said and walked away. I had a meeting to attend with another alpha. Seems like Sean as been creating more trouble for himself and us. I felt pity for those who lived under his rule. He ordered his vampires to kill any body at any given time.

I walked into Kaylee's room. I had gotten her name by combining both my brothers and my mate's names. And there she was my beautiful Kaylee. She was squirming in her crib the moment she realised I was in. I picked her up and cradled her to my chest. I loved her so much. She was the one thing that reminded me of Leona. My mate. She died giving birth to her. I was left so broken I didn't want to live anymore, then I remembered I had a child to live for. I wasn't sure if I was doing a great job in raising her but I tried. "Hey baby" I said as I nuzzled her cheek against mine and kissed her. She giggled and started playing with my hair. "Daddy has to go. I'll see you in a few minutes" I cooed to her. I gently placed her back in her crib. I walked out of her room. "Take care of her. Make sure she's safe" I said to her nanny. She nodded and hurried back inside.

I took over the pack after the death of Kaden. It was not an easy job at first but I managed. I made sure every pack member had everything they needed. We were a fairly large pack with a total of 900 people. We were spread out in the pack. Most of the town was my pack area. Only a small portion was left for the humans.

"Let's go" I said to my driver as I got into the car. I furiously typed on my phone.

"Sir we have arrived." I didn't reply. I got out of the car and walked to Alpha Michelson's pack house. He was expecting me so all the arrangements were already made. I was escorted inside by the one of the pack members. He stood up the moment he saw me.

"Greetings Jacob" he said extending out his hand. I shook his hand and also shook his mates hand.

"Hello Michelson."

"Luna Ophelia greetings to you as well" I greeted his her as well. Those two were always joined together. She was human but he turned her. She was one of the greatest leaders ever known.

My heart clenched when I thought about a Luna. My pack will never have one. I will never have a mate again.

I shook the thoughts away.

"Let's not waste time. Let's get down to business." I said as I sat down to discuss business. That business being Sean.

"I heard that Sean has been playing around your lands. I know his planning on attacking. We need to have a strategy."

...

After two long hours of deliberating, Michelson and I formed a treaty and we devised a plan to stop the vampires from spreading. I was tired and exhausted. This fight always drained my energy. I had to always risk the life's of my patrol to ensure that everybody was safe. It was exhausting. Never knowing what is going to happen next.

As we were about to enter back into the town I saw three people heading straight out of town. I clenched my fist. They were probably humans. They always wanted to go out and this lead to their deaths. "Theo swerve the car just in front of them and stop there" I said.

"Yes sir" he drove faster and swerved just in time.

All of a sudden my wolf was antsy. He kept telling me to go out quickly and wouldn't answer me why. I ignored him and watched as they walked around the car. The girl in the middle was glaring at my car. I stepped out and commanded them to stop.

I walked a bit closer when suddenly an intoxicating scent of raspberries and vanilla with a touch of mint filled my nostrils. I faltered in my steps.

It can't be.

As I walked up to them the smell became stronger and stronger...

I faced the three of them. When I looked at the girl in the middle I was met with the most alluring and beautiful person I've ever seen. I examined her features, she had strikingly beautiful grey eyes, pale skin (which I wanted to touch and feel) and the most enticing lips ever.

She was also staring at me. I was confused. I didn't expect to ever have another mate. But Leona... My eyes hardened when I thought of her. She was my mate. My one true mate.

"Where do you think you are going" I asked her. My question came out rude and harsh and my wolf whined. He already accepted her. She was human and he already wanted her. Not that I didn't want her... She was an angel. She seemed like a ball of sunshine and cuteness.

The other girl tried responding but my mate interrupted. "What's it to you?" She asked folding her arms. She kept talking and firing questions full of sarcasm. She was slowly getting on my nerve. She was questioning all the things I did for them. They may not be much but I still chose to help them. And she had the nerve to question and mock my authority. Had I wanted I could have let Sean have them and they could all be killed.

After telling her off and probably scaring her they left. I watched as she walked away with her friends. I know I shouldn't have spoken to her like that but it just happened. My heart clenched and I felt pain when she glared at me.

You were rude to mate, my wolf growled.

She was rude first what are you talking about.

I blocked him out and strode back to my car. I got in and we headed back home. My mood had just worsened. My mate was a human girl full of sass but she was so different (a good different) and I wanted to be with her. I was tired of the darkness. I'd seen the light again and I no longer wanted to be locked up in the darkness. She was the light.

The moment I got home I went straight to Kaylee's room. She always made me calm. I found her with her nanny. "Leave us" I said when I took her from her arms. I started kissing all over her face and she made funny cute baby sounds. I still felt the nanny's presence and I turned sharply glaring at her. "I said leave" I growled lowly so that Kaylee didn't hear. She bowed and left quickly. I rolled my eyes.

I returned my attention to Kaylee and started cooing to her. I put her on my lap and rocked her. I stared into her beautiful hazel eyes. I peppered her face with kisses. Her feeding time had already passed. She made some sounds and her eyelids soon started dropping. She always slept quickly.

I wished and hoped that by the time she's older the war and fights would be over. I didn't want her growing up in this toxic environment. And I hoped by that time I would have my mate by my side.
