Chapter 5

I looked at Martin and Martin looked at me.

There was a little scratch on his face and I reached out to touch it. He winced when I did that, holding my hand softly and removing it from his face.

“Martin, my poor Martin,” I said, my eyebrows arching downward-upward, to reveal my sad expression.

“It's just a scratch.

”“What are you doing here, Martin? It's too dangerous. You aren't thinking about fighting that big scary Alpha, are you?

”“I came here to save you,” he replied.

At that moment, a werewolf suddenly lunged at us from behind and Martin gave it a powerful kick in the head, sending it flying backward and hitting its back against the castle's sturdy wall.

The sudden movement reminded me of the current dire situation.

“You brought your pack here to save me?! It's too risky! The people here are nuts, I'm telling you!” I said.

“Don’t worry about me. I'll take care of…

”“I think your little reunion has lasted too long,” Claw said, cutting into Martin's speech, “You even forgot that I was standing there, even though I'm the one you should watch out for the most.

”I rolled my eyes.

“Of course, we won't notice you. You’re not that important,” I said.

Claw held his chest in pain dramatically and said,

“Ouch! You hurt me deeply with your harsh words! You can't say such words to your mate.

”“Mate?!

”“Mate?!

”Martin and I chorused when we heard the fool say that.

“What's he talking about?” Martin asked me.

“Don’t mind him. He's just spouting nonsense.

”“Nonsense? Your eyes glowed so beautifully the last time we met, remember?

”“That’s because I might have some connection to this fucked up pack and I'm not in the least happy about it. And didn't you reject me?!” I asked.

“Enough of all this chit-chat!” said Martin, pushing me behind him, and facing Claw who had reached where we stood and was now looking at us with his piercing gaze, “You will let Raven go, or else.

”Claw smirked, his eyes glowing in the night. Damn, he looked good with that smirk.

'What?! Raven, what are you thinking with your boyfriend beside you?!

'I saw Claw's hand reach for his side and draw out a dagger. He smiled again, and this time I could see the sharp fangs baring in his mouth.“Or else, what?!” he asked, taking a fighting stance.

“Or else I'll have to take her, by force,” Martin said, returning the energy and dipping his hand into his coat to take out his sword.

I looked from Martin to Claw. A fight was about to happen. I felt a tug of fear in my heart. Martin would not win. He could not win against the Alpha of this pack. He was a skilled fighter and his wolf was powerful, yet I knew just by staring at them, that he would not win. He would be hurt.

“Martin, please stop,” I said, placing my hand on his arm and drawing him back.

Claw looked at me and smirked again.

“Why? Scared I'm gonna floor your boyfriend in this fight?

”“No one was talking to you,” I retorted.

The loud snarl of someone broke the ensuing silence between us.

Behind our little tuff was a massive war that was occurring between Claw and Martin's pack. They were fighting ferociously and the sight of them fighting excited me rather than scared me. I felt like fighting with them.

Martin turned towards her, taking off his coat and wrapping it around her.“Stay behind and wait for me. I'll do this quickly.

”“Martin…

”“You must be confident, showing your back to me and even having time to display such useless affection in front of me. Well, I'll wait. I've not been this amused by anyone in a long time like I've been with both of you,” said Claw.

I stood behind and watched as Martin lunged at Claw and Claw lunged at Martin. My heart skipped a beat as I watched them fight, Martin using his silver sword and Claw using merely his golden dagger, yet he was blocking all of Martin's attacks effortlessly.

I was worried about Martin.

The fight ensued, the sounds of their weapons clashing against each other. Claw seemed like he was enjoying the fight with how he was smiling. I felt so mad I wanted to smack away that smile from his face.

Soon, Claw hit Martin's sword away, causing it to fly away to the sky. Oh no! But the next second, Martin had transformed into his wolf.

I watched as Martin's bones elongated and his muscles bulged, transforming him into his beastly form. His senses would be sharpened, his instincts heightened, and the primal urge to hunt and protect would surge through him. I know how that felt. Every werewolf knows how that feels.

“So fast? I thought you'd show me more of what you've got in human form. Guess I was wrong!” said Claw, lunging at Martin and aiming for his head with the dagger.

Martin dodged, twisting his body in the air and landing behind Claw. Then he pounced on Claw from behind, opening his mouth and revealing his sharp fangs.

Claw held Martin's furry head back with his bare hands, laughing as he wrestled with the ferocious wolf.

He succeeded in pushing Martin off but sustained a scratch on his hand. His eyes fell on the scratch and back at Martin. The smiling face was gone and replaced with a frown. My heart skipped a beat. It seemed Claw was now angry. His playful demeanor was gone.

“Now, you've done it.

”Claw suddenly, almost with the speed of light, jumped towards Martin. I watched in the split second that Claw was in the air, transforming into his wolf.

His knees reversed direction and the bones shifted inside him. His face contorted as the long wolf's muzzle extended out in front of him. His shout turned into a long howl as the dark fur sprouted from his body, his clothing tearing itself from his body as his muscles increased in size.

As the other werewolf approached; Martin, his fur bristling and teeth baring in a menacing snarl, I could sense the challenge in his eyes. There was no room for hesitation now; it was a fight for dominance, a battle of wills between two powerful creatures driven by the same wild instincts.

With a guttural growl, Claw lunged forward, meeting his opponent head-on in a clash of fur and fang. The sound of snarls and growls filled the air as they circled each other, each looking for an opening, each testing the other's strength and agility.

The moonlight danced off their fur as they grappled and fought, the earth beneath them shaking with the force of their blows. Adrenaline coursed through my veins as I watched them fight with all their might, each strike fueled by the primal energy of the beast within them.

Despite the chaos and the fury of the battle, I stood closely behind them, analyzing their moves, searching for weaknesses Martin could exploit. I had had my fair share of battles and I understood the fierceness of wolf by wolf combats.

Every movement, every weight shift, every snarl and snap of teeth was a clue, a piece of the puzzle in this deadly dance of combat.

And then, in a moment of clarity and determination, Claw saw his chance.

I saw it too.“Martin, watch out!

” I shouted in fear.

But it was too late, because, with a swift and calculated move, Claw seized the upper hand, overpowering his opponent with a ferocious display of strength and skill.

As the other werewolf lay defeated at his feet, panting and wounded, Claw stood victorious, his chest heaving with exertion and triumph. The primal roar that escaped his lips echoed through the night, a declaration of his dominance, a testament to the beast within him.

“Nooo!! Martin!” I shouted, running towards him and landing on the floor behind him. I placed my hand on his neck and sighed in relief as I noticed he was breathing and had just passed out.

I looked back at Claw's gorgeous wolf, watching me as the moon shone on his fur.

“You monster,” I muttered, my eyes clouding with tears as I held Martin close to my chest, “Don’t you dare come near him.

”I didn't even notice the battle had finished. Of course, with the defeat of the person that led them there, Martin's pack had stopped fighting, accepting defeat from Alpha Claw's pack.

Slowly, Claw transformed back into a human and stood, watching me and saying nothing.

“I told you how this would end, Raven. So stop looking at me like I'm some monster,” he finally said after a while.

Claw's Beta suddenly appeared, running towards him with a worried expression.

“Are you okay?!” he asked.

“Yes, her boyfriend caused a little disturbance so we had to take care of that,” Claw said nonchalantly, “As for all of them, seize them and throw them into the dungeon.

”My heart skipped a beat when he said that. I wrapped my hands protectively around Martin.“I won't let you,

” I said defiantly.
