Let's divorce

“Would you like to contact your husband?” asked the doctor who was observing him attentively.

“Yes, he’s traveling but I can’t reach him.” replied Valerie.

“You can use the office phone maybe that will work.”

" Thank you so much." She dialed her husband's number and after a few rings a woman answered.

“Yes who is it?” Valérie thought she had dialed the number wrong, but after checking she was certain that it was her husband's.

“Is this Mr. Thierry Zack’s device?”

“Yes who are you?” Elena asked.

“I’m his wife Valerie Zack.”

“He’s in the shower now.” Elena replied without embarrassment.

“Tell him to call me back if he finishes.” Valérie hung up sadly.

“So you talked to him?”

"No, his secretary says he's in a meeting, he'll call me back. I have to leave, doctor, goodbye."

“Goodbye ma’am, come back when you feel things aren’t going well.” warns the doctor.

Valérie left the hospital and hailed a taxi. She knew her husband was cheating on her but the news of her pregnancy was reason enough not to let it get her down. From now on she had to live for her child growing inside her.

Even if Thierry cheated on her, she wanted him to be the first to know about her pregnancy.

A few days later she resumed her normal life and worked diligently.

One morning she was still asleep when she felt someone's presence in the room. She opened her eyes and found Thierry sitting on the chair.

“When did you get home?” asked Valérie, standing up.

“This morning, I would like to talk about something.” replied Thierry.

“Can’t you two talk later?”

“I don’t have much time.” His indifferent attitude made Valérie stand up to listen to him. She knew something bad was about to happen.

“I’m listening to you.” replied Valerie.

"I know we've been married for five years and you haven't managed to give me a child, but I couldn't bear to end my life like this because I'm my mother's only son." Valérie had prepared for this eventuality for a long time.

“What are you getting at?” she asked.

“I know that you love me very much and you will accept what I am going to tell you.”

“If I don’t accept?”

“Our marriage will end in divorce.” Valérie looked at him without emotion.

“And what is that?”

“I found a beautiful woman and she is pregnant with me, I want her to come and live here with us.”

"Are you kidding me? You want me to add two more people to my charge? How ridiculous you are, Thierry. Have you loved me even once in your life when you were just taking advantage of my money?"

“Whatever the reason but I wasn’t happy without children, now that she’s pregnant with me I can’t abandon her.”

“You can rent an apartment for her, she’s your responsibility not mine and besides you’re working now, you can provide for their needs without me.”

"How can you be ungrateful like that? I have been a good husband to you all these years but just this once you don't want to fulfill my dream of being a father, do you really want my happiness? What a man could anyone in his right mind live with a barren woman for all these years? All my friends are already parents except me because I was waiting for a miracle that will never come true." He was furious. His words were too strong that Valérie burst into tears.

"You can't blame me for that Thierry, you should have filed for divorce a long time ago if you couldn't stand me. You were unreachable for several days, I called you and your mistress answered me. You didn't even have no time to call me back to check on me, you disgust me Thierry If you have no other solution to accommodate this woman then I won't be able to live with her either." Valerie protested.

“Then let’s divorce.”

“Is this what you really want?”

"Of course, I've only known her for six months and she's pregnant, but you've gone five years without even a miscarriage."

“I will put up with anything but no insults Thierry, if you want to divorce let’s divorce pathetically.”

“As you wish, let’s meet at nine o’clock at the civil registry office.”

“Am I so boring that you don’t even give me a day to think?” asked Valerie.

“There’s nothing to think about, you only have two hours of time to meet me there.” he got up and left.

Valerie collapsed into the bed and cried for minutes.

Leonard was back in the country a few hours ago, he noticed that some things in his drawer were not put away as he had left them. He went to the living room to find the doorman.

“Who came here in my absence Fabrice?”

“Yes, your fiancée came, she told me she wanted to get something.” replied Fabrice the doorman.

“Did you see what she took?”

“I hadn’t been paying attention, plus I couldn’t ask her what she was looking for.”

" All right." he went back to his room and took a shower. After finishing he called Samuel.

“Be here in thirty minutes don’t forget you’re my witness.”

“I’m on my way, Mr. Groom.” replied Samuel.

“I remind you that I am your boss.”

“Today is supposed to be the happiest day, we don’t give each other orders.” Samuel joked.

"I'm not happy I remind you, my wedding is planned in an hour and twelve minutes." said Leonard looking at his watch.

“I’ll be there in twenty minutes, don’t worry.” replied Samuel.

Leonard hung up and got dressed.
