Valérie got ready and went to the civil status office. When she arrived there, she found Thierry in the hall, a beautiful and elegant girl clinging to his arm.
“Is she your ex-wife?” Elena asked.
"It's her. Valérie, I present to you my future wife Elena." Thierry mocked. Valerie just looked at him.
“How proud, she is the sterile one and even wants to give orders to you my love.” said Elena kissing Thierry.
“Thierry, can you give me a little respect even for the years of living together? With what right does your mistress speak to me like this?” retorted Valérie, fed up with their behavior.
“It’s you who should be ashamed, you were incapable for five years, what respect are you talking about?” asked Thierry.
“You are truly ridiculous, I have never seen an incapable woman like you in my entire life.” Elena burst out laughing.
Valérie was heartbroken, she wondered how she could have fallen in love with this man.
Without knowing it, Leonardo was nearby and watching the whole scene while waiting for his fiancée.
When the time came, Valerie signed the divorce papers without wasting time, she left the room and sat down on a bench in the hall.
For his part, Leonard was losing patience because it was already twenty-eight minutes past nine and she was still not there.
“There are two minutes left Samuel, if she doesn’t come I’ll go back.” Leonard complained.
"You will have to deal with your mother-in-law and your father, she told you to get married today. Why don't you show them your true identity so they will leave you alone." asked Samuel.
"I can't at the moment. I've already escaped many of Boris Evans' traps so I can't expose myself now."
"Anyway, you're special in your own way. Why doesn't this girl appear?" They waited a little longer and Leonard was annoyed
“Let’s go home Samuel.” Leonard said as he left the corridor towards the hall.
"Hey! You're not serious? Let's wait a little longer." shouted Samuel
“You can wait if you’re the one getting married.” he replied without facing him
“Leonard, please be patient.” begged Samuel.
"Time is money and you know me that way. The two minutes wasted here could earn me millions so stop yelling at me like I'm a kid." He walked into the hall and saw a figure huddled on a bench, he stopped at her level and sat down on the bench.
“What do you still want to do Leo, you’re not leaving anymore?” Samuel was already annoyed by his actions.
“No I have to get married get married today.”
“You’re annoying me, can you stop behaving like a child?”
“Go wait for me in the car and don’t come back here until I get out.” Samuel was already tired of his actions, he headed outside without waiting.
“How many minutes do you have left for you to calm down?” said Leonard, lowering his tone and moving closer to her.
Valerie raised her head and looked at him, a handsome man wearing a suit was sitting next to her.
“Are you kidding me?” shouted Valérie furiously.
"Not at all, I just wonder how a pretty woman like you can cry over a jerk ex-husband who doesn't even recognize her worth."
“What, did you spy on me?” Valerie asked perplexed.
"It was the woman next to him who caught my attention. How can your husband's mistress make a fool of you in front of all these people when he motivates her to do it and you start crying like crazy." he said with a smirk.
“I forbid you to insult me, leave here if you have nothing better to do.”
“So that you keep crying?” Leonard joked.
“I’ve had enough of you.” she stood up and wanted to leave when Leonard held her wrist.
"You know lady the world is so ironic, I'm waiting for my fiancée to get married and she's late for her own wedding. It's because she doesn't know that others here are crying for their foolish ex husbands. "
"Who exactly are you? Do you feel comfortable making fun of me?" Valerie growled.
“No ma’am, I just wanted to show you that we are both stuck here with our spouses so what do you say that we are together to console each other?”
"You're not serious, I just got divorced and leave me alone." Valérie replied, forcing herself out of his hold.
“I know and I’m serious about it.
I have to get married today otherwise I will have to deal with my mother-in-law.”
"I'm not yet ready to commit and even if I wanted to it won't be with you. Besides, you don't know me" Valérie refused.
“When you are my wife, your problems will be mine and there is no question of time until I know that you are a good person. It's up to you to see if you can stand the insults from your rival and the contempt from your ex-husband, and I'm going to get kicked out of the family if I don't get married unless I find someone else beautiful and daring like you." he said, releasing her wrist and pretending toto go out.
Although she had just divorced, Valérie could not bear the contempt of her ex-husband and his family because she was certain that they would not leave her alone as long as she remained in his house. Plus she didn't need anyone to know about her baby and if she raised her alone, society was going to come after her calling her names.
“My child does not deserve such a father.” She stood up and shouted
“Stop!”
Leonardo turned and walked back.
“I see you’ve changed your mind.”
"Let's do this, but it has to stay between us for now."
“I understand you my beautiful future wife, let’s go inside to fulfill our wishes.” he said, curtsying and giving her his left hand.
“Although we will be married, nothing will happen between us because I don’t love you.”
“I didn’t say otherwise but we have to live under the same roof to hide my family.”
“Okay let’s go.” she said, putting her hand in Leonard's.
After signing the marriage agreement, they went out and Valérie wanted to leave.
“My name is Leonard Evans.” he said holding out his hand.
“I'm Valérie Stewart, I have to go home to get my things.”
“Give me your address and I’ll come pick you up this evening.” Leonard said giving him a note book and a pen. She wrote something and left.
She hailed a taxi and called Samira.
“It’s all over Samira, we just got divorced.”
"What? Divorce?" she shouted so loudly that Valérie moved her phone away from her ear.
“Speak quietly, I’ll explain everything when we meet.”
“You better give me a good explanation, we’ll meet at our usual restaurant for lunch.”
" All right." Valérie hung up. She knew that her friend would not be happy to learn that she had just remarried on the day of her divorce, so she decided to omit this detail when she saw her.
