Just as a man moved closer to Cecilia, Nicki Ramos swiftly intervened, blocking the individual from touching her as if shielding her from harm, leaving Japheth visibly surprised. The manager's expression betrayed his fear, indicating that trouble was imminent.
Japheth's gaze drifted to the ladder left behind by the intruder, and he surveyed the scene with growing anger, piecing together what had transpired. Dismissing the man attempting to assist Cecilia, he lifted her gently into his arms, with Nicki trailing behind like a loyal companion.
With purposeful strides, Japheth carried Cecilia from the bar to his car, their movements synchronized in a manner that could be mistaken for a family unit in slow motion.
Upon waking, Cecilia's body throbbed with discomfort, signaling the early hours of the audition day. Attempting to rise, she froze upon spotting a man by the window engrossed in a book. His posture exuded confidence, his long legs crossed casually beneath him, accentuated by a slim-fitting suit that emphasized his broad shoulders and trim waist.
Bathed in the morning sunlight, his demeanor remained cool and collected, adding to his stoic allure. Sensing her gaze, he glanced up from his book, his icy stare penetrating her being with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine.
She felt like a surgery knife was piercing her skin, scattering her veins sheet by sheet, when he looked at her.
It seems like a staring contest between the man and Cecilia, as he didn't loosen his gaze and Cecilia was not ready to loose the staring battle.
She hurriedly inquired, "Excuse me, may I ask how I ended up here? There was a girl you saw? She seems to be around five or six, talks fast and rudely, with curly hair and super cute."
The man raised his eyebrows at her description, glanced in a certain direction, and then asked, "Are you talking about Nicki?"
Cecilia glanced over and saw a sweet, white, and adorable baby girl lying on a bed beside her. Her eyes brightened as she realized it was her. "Is her name Nicki?"
She let out a sigh of relief and reached over to feel Nicki's forehead. It felt warm, indicating her fever was going down. She recalled helping her earlier and wondered what might have happened if she hadn't rescued her in that wine bar storeroom.
The man remained as icy as his stature, showing no emotion when she faced him. Wanting to know more, she asked, "And you're Nicki's...?"
"Father!" He replied without a hint of emotion.
Cecilia was taken aback, then someone else entered. "Hi, Pretty, you're awake? I'm Nicki's big uncle," he said, rushing towards her.
As Cecilia retreated against him, she saw his face clearly. "Se... Seth Ramos? Seth? The second Demi God of immortal entertainment, the CEO of singers and musicians, a big-time playboy," she thought, astonished.
Unable to see his face, she realized if Seth was Nicki's uncle, then the man she was talking to must be... Nicki's father, Japheth Ramos, the head honcho of Immortal Entertainment. The child she saved was the rumored child of the Immortals CEO.
Sensing Cecilia's insecurity about Seth and him, Japheth observed her expression, trying to gauge if her surprise was genuine. After a while, he concluded that she didn't know Nicki's identity.
He spoke up coldly, "Your request?"
Cecilia was baffled by this response. "Re... What is your request?" she stammered.
"Seth quickly came to my rescue as if he already knew what his brother wanted to say. "Mr. Japheth wants to say thank you for saving our Nicki's life and he's wondering what you're asking for, like some sort of compensation."
Cecilia quickly declined the offer after hearing Seth's interpretation of Japheth's words. "You don't need to thank me, really. Nicki was too cute to ignore. She sounds a bit rude, but she was impressive, and if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have been saved either," she said, glancing at the two men beside her bed.
Cecilia couldn't shake off the feeling of unease as she contemplated her next move. Saving the cute girl had been an act of instinct, driven by a desire to help someone in need. But now, as she found herself entangled in a web of mysterious circumstances, she couldn't help but wonder if she was in over her head.
The temptation to demand compensation for her actions gnawed at her, fueled by a sense of entitlement that she knew was unwarranted. Yet, the thought of more money or a position at Immortal Entertainment lingered at the back of her mind, tempting her with promises of a better future.
But Cecilia knew better than to give in to such desires. She couldn't afford to risk her reputation or her freedom by demanding anything from Japheth Ramos and his associates. Even if this was the perfect opportunity to secure her place in the entertainment industry, she couldn't afford to jeopardize her chances by overstepping her bounds.
Instead, she resolved to tread carefully, to even out the relations between them and avoid any future problems or misunderstandings. It was better to maintain a neutral stance for now, to bide her time and wait for the right moment to make her move.
As Cecilia contemplated her next course of action, she couldn't help but notice the subtle shift in Japheth Ramos's expression. His stoic demeanor sent a shiver down her spine, filling her with a sense of foreboding.
"Did I say something wrong?" she wondered, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to decipher his inscrutable expression. Was he always like this, or had she unwittingly crossed a line?
Seth, ever perceptive, noticed Cecilia's unease and intervened, addressing his brother with a hint of admonishment in his voice. "Mike, don't put on such a scary expression. We know you're trying to compensate her, but at least try to smile," he chided, hoping to ease the tension in the air.
But Japheth's response was far from reassuring. Instead of heeding his brother's words, he fixed Seth with a penetrating stare, his expression unreadable as he weighed his options carefully. And as Cecilia watched on, she couldn't shake off the feeling that the worst was yet to come.
