Chapter 4

But I hadn't expected Trevor to go this far.

Trevor had secretly tracked my movements and then hired a driver to run me over.

The wheels rolled over my neck and ankles.

I watched helplessly as the car drove away about ten meters and dragged me along for another ten. The driver then slowly got out of the car.

Seeing that I was still somewhat conscious, he tried several times to pull me up.

I felt as if my brain were being thoroughly shaken.

"Sorry, Mrs. Gray. If anyone is to blame, it’s your husband. If you become a vengeful spirit after your death, please don't come after me."

He watched as I finally passed out completely before he called the police. I had just been placed in the ambulance when I stopped breathing.

Meanwhile, Trevor was busily preparing a welcome-back party for his moonlight return home. At the party, Trevor wore a white suit with a flower pinned to his chest.

For the first time in years, he showed a genuine smile. Carolyn was dressed in a beautiful white wedding gown.

The two of them gave off an ease of success in life.

Now, it was as if Trevor had hurriedly remarried. He hadn't spent a minute grieving for me, though he might have pretended to mourn a bit, but definitely after the welcome-back party.

Fortunately, I lived an immortal life, while they lived shorter lives.

In this broken circle, I could only lose face for a hundred years at most.

My parents cried their hearts out and gave me a grand funeral. Of course, that was for the public.

Privately, my parents threw a party. A whole family gathered together.

Some of my vampire friends came specially to visit.

They brought a paper model of a man, feigned tears for a while, and then happily mooched a meal at my house. At the dinner table, they asked,

“Melanie, have you found a new blood supply?”

“Then this guy, Trevor, we won’t be polite.”

“If it weren’t for being polite to you, I would have dealt with that psycho long ago.”

Many people were just going through the motions, and my parents nodded with a smile. I smiled, conveying my message.

“Trevor is indeed exceptional. However, he doesn’t donate blood. Otherwise, I could have offered you a taste before.”

Trevor was exceptional in every way.

"Since you've killed me once, I guess it's only fair I kill you too," I murmured to myself.

The party lasted until after midnight.

The other guests at the dinner table had quite a bit to drink.

My parents were genuinely happy for me, although they were a bit saddened by the accident I had.

After everyone had their fill of food and drink, they found spots around my house to crash. Even a 1000-year-old vampire was considered young. As humans said, youth was a blessing.

I didn’t drink and searched my name along with Trevor and Carolyn on Big Eyes for any ridiculous stories about us. I couldn’t even find a tag.

Trevor was quick to act.

But I was not slower.

I contacted several marketing accounts and media outlets I had lined up before and even paid for trending searches to promote the glorious deeds of Trevor.

I couldn't help it. My desire to share was just too vast.

After hanging out with my vampire friends, I stretched my body. Ouch, that hurt.

The pain reminded me.

I really shouldn't go easy on Trevor, not even because he was tasty.

I turned on my phone and looked through the surveillance cameras at home. Every room in my house was monitored.

Initially, it was for the convenience of keeping cats, but since Trevor didn’t like them, I had to leave the cats with my parents. Well, I chose eating over playing.

I just got home these past few days and finally got to pet the cat.

My parents had taken such good care of her that her fur was glossy and puffed out.

I called my little cat over and held her in my arms.

We watched together the tumultuous relationship between Trevor and Carolyn.

They had practically lain in every place in my house, the bedroom, living room, kitchen, balcony, and bathroom, using the box Trevor had previously told me he prepared for me.

However, I had intentionally or unintentionally refused Trevor, so it never got used.

I wiped the sweat off my forehead and pursed my lips.
