Chapter 3

Seeing that I complied with his wishes, Trevor became even more reckless afterward.

He had me learn how to cook so that on days he was hungry and didn't want to order takeout, I could bring him food.

Of all the many people I've fed, he was the most shameless.

But Trevor's ambition was brewing within him, making him truly a gourmet.

I felt my body rejuvenate by several years.

Thus, reluctantly meeting the demands of food was a duty I, as a master, ought to fulfill.

I learned how to cook, and truly went to the company when Trevor called me to bring him food.

I entered the company and was just about to take the elevator when the receptionist stopped me.

"Sorry, Mrs.Gray, Mr. Gray is in a meeting upstairs and has specifically instructed me that no one is allowed to go up until the meeting is over."

"I can't go up? I'm worried the food will get cold and won't suit Mr. Gray's taste then."

"Sorry, Mrs. Gray. I can’t let you through."

"Alright, I will wait here then."

"Sorry, the company doesn't provide special amenities for visitors to rest."

"I can’t even wait here for him?"

I was about to continue when the receptionist's phone rang.

I saw her nodding and bowing timidly over the phone, and I realized it was Trevor on the line.

"Mrs. Gray, Mr. Gray says you can go up."

I didn't respond to her and turned to head for the elevator.

"Sorry, Mrs. Gray. This is the president's private elevator, only for the president and Carolyn to use. Please use the stairs."

If it were night, I could have turned into a bat and flown right up.

"How much does Trevor pay you to listen to his words like this?"

"Five thousand, not a penny more."

Fine.

I beckoned with my finger.

"Tell me your bank account, and I'll wire the money into your account."

The receptionist, clearly not expecting this turn of events, shakily told me her account.

I fiddled with my phone for a moment and transferred her fifty thousand.

"Mr. Gray gave me an extra five thousand to make sure I tripped you up by any means necessary when I saw you coming, but I think you're a really nice person, Mrs. Gray."

"Thank you for telling me." I transferred another fifty thousand to her.

Then I stepped onto the president's private elevator.

Trevor sat in his office chair, looking quite lofty and disdainful.

His secretary had changed. The new one looked a bit like Carolyn. The secretary leaned close to him.

She wasn't tall, with the delicate air of a damsel. No doubt, she had spent a pretty penny to achieve that look.

"Mrs. Gray, you're here to bring Mr. Gray his meal, right? Just leave it and go. I'll feed Mr. Gray."

"Is he a three-year-old toddler or are you just born to be a nanny?"

"Shut up! Melanie, this is Gray Group. There's no room for your unrestrained chatter here." How dare Trevor give me that attitude?

What could I say?

Technically, half of this company should belong to my father.

I wanted to say something, but in the end, I held back.

“Forget it. Food keeps a good mood and tastes even better,” I assured myself inwardly.

"Alright, I won't argue with you anymore. I'm going back to my video games."

"Mr. Gray, she treats you like this in front of strangers. Does she boss you around even more at home? If I were your wife, I'd only ever pamper you."

"You really do have a clear role, don't you? I know you care about me, Sue."

Trevor coddled his coquettish secretary, then turned his gaze back towards me. "Look at you. You bear no trace of the considerate and docile wife!"

"Fine, I'll do my best to change. Go eat. I really need to get back to my video games."

"Are games more important than Mr. Gray? He works so hard every day, and you show no appreciation." The secretary was like a broken record, her voice so annoying.

"And wasn't it you who pursued Mr. Gray so vigorously, causing such a stir in the circle? How can you not endure even this little inconvenience, throwing a tantrum here?"

"It's all my fault. I apologize to both of you."

I wanted to escape from between them, but then I heard Trevor starting up again.

"Is that supposed to be an apology?"

These two were really annoying in their back-and-forth.

I should have let Mr. Hudson deliver the meal.

Tsk, they wouldn't trouble Mr. Hudson, would they?

I’d better not stir up trouble here.

"That's enough, Trevor. Keep boasting and you won't see a dime of my money." Trevor paled and fell silent.

I went downstairs, looking up at the towering building. My gaze stopped at Trevor's office floor.

Then, thoughtfully, I picked up my phone.

"Got it, Miss Clark. I'll turn into a bat and defecate in Trevor and his secretary's cups."

I could forgive Trevor, turning a blind eye to all of his actions, as long as he didn't go too far.
