Chapter 8

The guys looked at each other as if they had heard some strange joke.

One of them laughed softly, raising an eyebrow and asking rhetorically, "Why do you care about his business?"

I clenched my fists and replied firmly, "He's my deskmate and he gives me extra lessons!"

"Luke's afraid to talk, I'll do it for him, don't think I'm afraid of you just because you're seniors."

"No one can school bully in our society nowadays!!!"

Unexpectedly, they weren't angry.

Instead, he smiled meaningfully, then turned away.

I stood still, my mind filled with doubt.

Their attitude was a bit unexpected, it was completely different from my previous impression.

Aren't these people supposed to be menacing, like next start threatening me.

Why does it look like it's getting along?

Forget it, can't think about it. Maybe they're really afraid I'll tell the principal?

I returned to class on a cloud.

But the sight of the empty seat beside me is still distracting and thought provoking.

Luke waited until the afternoon to return to class.

I was about to ask him where he'd been when I looked up and saw the gauze patch on his arm.

It's a new injury for the day, thinking about the scene at the playground.

For some reason I'm a little angry, it must be those people again!

Luke is just too soft-hearted, and anyhow, I owe my math to him, and I could never ignore it.

I took a deep breath and looked at him, "Luke, honestly, are you ...... being bullied?"

Trying to keep my emotions in check, I asked him carefully, and my voice was a little weak.

After all, for a boy, being bullied at school is inherently a bit hard to talk about.

Now it made me realize that it might hurt his ego if I asked outright.

But it's not his fault for being bullied, seeing as he's my little nanny.

I've got to bring him to his senses!
