Summary
I was a gossipy teenager in high school.
A stark contrast to the cold-faced schoolteacher in the class.
Then the homeroo...
Chapter 1
I was not lying to you. The CEO's son really became my nanny.
It all started during a literature class in my first year of high school, where the homeroom teacher droned on about a Hemingway story.
Not even fifteen minutes into the class, I began to feel drowsy.
Just as I was about to face-plant onto the desk, someone poked me from behind, jolting me awake.
It turned out the teacher had started a group discussion on the main idea of the text.
I turned around to join the discussion with my classmates.
However, as soon as we started, I couldn't help but veer off the topic and began talking about the latest school news.
I was passionately mic-dropping stories about the cafeteria lady and the security guard, unaware if it was my volume or the noise.
Suddenly, the teacher called out my name.
"Nicola! Group discussions aren't meant for gossiping!"
I flashed an embarrassed smile and lowered my head, not speaking again.
But inside, I couldn't help but wonder. Was I a celebrity journalist in my past life since I was so well-informed in this one?
Although I knew it wasn't appropriate to chat during class, I just couldn't control myself.
Whenever I started discussing other topics, it felt like I was on a high.
I was much more spirited than when attending the class.
After class, I thought today's incident would just pass.
However, the teacher came up to me, barely containing her irritation.
"Nicola, starting this afternoon, you are moving to sit next to Luke."
This was already my sixth seat change this semester!
But I never expected my new deskmate to be Luke...
Not just me, but the whole class fell silent.
Luke was a student who repeated a grade in our class.
Though Luck was our top student, he was someone everyone else avoided.
He always had an unapproachable aura around him, seemingly reluctant to interact with others.
In terms of being reserved, he was second to none in our class.
We were two extremes. I was excessively talkative, and he was practically mute.
