Author's pov:-

Arjun attended his engagement ceremony unwillingly, never did he look at her in the whole ceremony. The place beside her was suffocating him to end. All he wanted at that moment was to flee away from that place and hide somewhere.

If not for his mom, he would have cancelled this alliance the day before. But now, he was toungtied. Never in his entire life, he was this helpless. All thanks to the girl sitting beside him like an innocent girl.

The day passed giving space to the night. Staying beside her just for some time was enough for him, he couldn't imagine his entire life with her. He slept coming to a conclusion of what he had to do.

The next day:-

Maya woke up to the beep of the phone placed on the side table near her bed. She lifts the call without seeing the caller I'd and placed it on her ear only to hear yelling from the other side of the phone.

It was Megha!

She was on a trip with her family, so she wasn't informed prior as the engagement was done in a rush and if she was informed, she would come cutting down her trip and Megha didn't want this. Megha returned from the trip today and got to know about the engagement.

Megha knew about Maya's feelings for Arjun. Because, whenever Priya raises her brother's topic, Maya used to blush a lot with her cheeks turns to crimson red colour.

Megha being a sharp observer never fails to notice these little things. Whenever she asked Maya about it in the priya's absence, Maya used to shut her word saying there is nothing like that. And when she saw these engagement photos sent by Priya, she couldn't contain her excitement and made a call to Maya.

Megha was yelling on the other side of the phone continuously for informing her prior. Maya kept cool all the time and after Megha finished her shouting and giving a good class to Maya, Maya explained the entire situation and cooled Megha saying she didn't want her to cut down her trip in the middle.

Megha ended the call saying that she would come to meet Priya and Maya so that they could get to spend friends time.

Maya called Priya to inform her about the plan but Priya had an important meeting in the office, she has to attend the meeting at any cost and asked them to continue the plan without her.

Maya cut the call wishing her good luck and went to take bath and get ready.

After getting ready, Arjun went to Maya's house with something running in his mind. He didn't inform anything to his family as they were busy with their works.

He stopped his bike in front of Maya's house. As their houses are few blocks away, he chose to go on a bike. As he rang the bell, the door was opened in one or two minutes. It was Maya who opened the door.

She thought it was Megha, but to her surprise, it was Arjun,  her would-be husband; standing at the door dressed in casuals. Seeing him, her heart skipped a beat. He was looking damn handsome with his shades on.

Arjun got mesmerised looking at the beauty standing in front of him. Maya was dressed in a white cotton top with matching pants and dupatta. For once he forgot the purpose he came for.

At that moment, all his anger, frustration got vanished and just flew away like a wind.

Both of them lost in each other, nobody spoke a word. It was like they forgot the entire world which was filled with jealousy, cruelty and wickedness.

Maya was the first one to break the eye contact realising that they were lost in each other completely forgetting that they were standing at the main entrance of the house.

A blush formed on her face remembering how he was engrossed in looking at her as if looking into her soul. This blush didn't go unnoticed by him. As soon as she breaks her eye contact, he too came out of the trance and looked away scolding himself for soo being lost in her.

She cleared her throat and invited him into the house. There was complete silence between them. Nobody spoke a word. She felt very happy looking at him but didn't speak a word as she was cherishing that moment of silence with him.

Even though he was few feet away from her, she felt him being close to her heart. She didn't want those moments to catch an end as she was having peace looking at him and didn't do any attempt to break the silence.

But, he did want to break the silence, as he was here to break her bubble.

He asked about her parents and her brother. She replied looking at her hands that her parents went to meet someone and her brother went to the hospital.

She was feeling shy, as it was the first time he was speaking to her after many years. She was about to go to the kitchen to get fruit juice for him.

When Arjun saw Maya going to the kitchen, he quickly told her not to do any formalities as he came here to speak something important to her.

Maya frowned at him thinking what could be the matter which is that important. However, she gave in later and nodded her head looking down.

Arjun didn't want to beat around the bush, neither he has that habit nor he was much interested in talking to her.

"I don't want to marry you," he told her directly, coming to the point. Making her eyes wide open at the most unexpected thing she heard in her life.
