Author's pov:-

There he was, looking handsome in his attire with the beard on his face which was making him even more handsome.

Vikram gave him a side hug and lead him to towards Maya. Pooja was done, rings were exchanged. They took blessings from their parents and grandparents. All the time she was talking glances at him but he didn't even look at her, not even for once. His face was stern while exchanging the rings too.

This made her scared. When She tried talking to him, he just answered with a single word and an emotionless face.

Maya and Priya were in her room as Priya planned a girls night. Priya kept talking about how the day went, but nothing reached Maya's ears as her mind was thinking about something, rather say someone.

He looked soo happy with everybody and talked to all their family members except her, his face was stern whenever he was near her. These thoughts were making her restless.

Priya's yelling brought her out of trance "I have been calling you for five minutes but you were not responding, dreaming about my brother right?" she said winking at her.

Priya started teasing Maya endlessly and at one point Maya smirked at her saying she would not leave her when her time comes and the revenge will be taken definitely, these words made her cheeks heated up.

She gave a smack Maya's shoulder and ran away from the room, whilst Maya grinned looking at her retreating back.

Again his thoughts invaded her mind. At least she convinced herself saying he must have been shy speaking to her in front of everybody. This was enough to bring a big smile on her and she slept thinking about their beautiful feature, not knowing the storm awaiting her.

Arjun was damn excited to meet his family, he got transferred to his place. When he entered his house along with Vikram, he was taken in a bone-crushing hug by his sister. He met his parents and Vikram's and took their blessings.

After lunch, Vikram and his parents returned to their house, when he was passing through his mom's door, he heard her mom talking about someone's engagement to Priya.

He immediately went to her mother and asked whose engagement she was talking about. Instead of answering his

question, his mother and sister were looking at each other speaking through their eyes. When he didn't get the answer, he repeated the question. His mom signalled Priya to leave the room.

She made him sit on the bed beside her, held his hands in her and started speaking. He jerked his hands from her and stood up from his place.

Never in his life he was going to marry her, even if she remained the last girl present on the earth. He would rather prefer being a bachelor than making her his life partner.

She was the only human on the earth whom he despised the most. Her name was enough to boil his rage.

"No mom, I'm never going to marry her,

Cancel this engagement as soon as possible. Inform them of decision."

"Have you gone mad Arjun? Do you even know what are you speaking? I'm not going to cancel this engagement. What's wrong with marrying Maya? She is a nice girl." His mother tried to make him understand.

"I know what I'm speaking mom, There is everything wrong in marrying her. Besides, I love a girl whom I want to marry. You can't force me to marry her when I have all rights to decide what is best for me. If you don't inform them of my decision, then I'm doing it" he took his mobile and started failing Vikram's number.

But his mother snatched the phone from him

" Don't you dare do that Arjun. You are speaking to your mom, remember this. I have every right to decide what is best for you. No one is more compatible with you than Maya. If you don't want to do this engagement, go for it and remember, the day you cancel this engagement is going to be the last day of my life." She left the room after splashing a bucket of cold water on him.

He was taken aback at her words. How could they decide everything for him, that too without his consent? Hell with the consent, they didn't even give him an idea about this.

He was damn angry with the things happening around him, he wanted to go back to the place where he had come from. Why on the earth was god testing him this much? What wrong had he done? No son would wish to be in a situation to chose between his mom's life and his life.

If he doesn't agree to this engagement, his mom would die. If he does, he would die.

All this was happening just because of Maya, his hatred for her increased to no end. He banged on the table out of frustration and concluded.

He would get engaged to her!
