Rhea’s POV
The annoying buzz of my phone forced me out of bed.
I took a deep breath, turning over to reach out for my phone. I ran my hand roughly through my hair, attempting to pull it out of its roots.
“Where are you?” Gia screamed on the other end.
It hurt my ears so bad, I was forced to pull the phone away from my ears.
“What is wrong with you Gia?” I was pissed.
“I should be asking you that” she sounded so upset.
“What do you mean?” I became confused.
“Rhea, today is your wedding. And you are nowhere to be seen. If you don't get here in the next one hour. Then your father is going to set this place ablaze; he is already threatening everyone.” She sounded scared.
I smacked my palm against my forehead, feeling ashamed of myself.
How could I have forgotten that I was supposed to get married today?
My dad is going to kill me!
I forced myself out of bed and took a shower. The bathroom was so small, I nearly choked.
I rinsed my face while I observed myself in the mirror. I can't believe I gave my innocence to a stranger. Judging by the house. He is poor as well; no one must come to know about this, no matter what.
I managed to order a taxi online and sent my location to him. I had no idea where this man had brought me. And the nerves of him to leave before I could even wake up.
The journey back home was suffocating. It felt like my chest was clogged, and I couldn't think straight.
“We are here, ma'am,” the driver informed me, and my heart sank to my stomach.
I handed him his money, as I staggered into the house. My legs were trembling, as I awaited what was ahead of me.
“How dare you!” My father's voice echoed in the house, as he descended the stairs.
“Dad…I…I can explain “ I stammered.
The closer he got to me, the more I could feel my spirit leave my soul.
He stood tall in front of me, his height intimidating. Before I could utter another word, he landed a slap on my right cheek.
I fell to the floor, unable to look at him.
“Do you think you can embarrass me?” He asked, glaring down at me.
“No…” I cried, with my palm glued to my cheek.
Tears ran down my cheeks freely, as I struggled to get off the floor.
“Get her ready, before the Alpha King gets to the altar. And even if she's not ready, drag her to the altar like that. This wedding must hold,” he ordered and walked away.
Two maids offered to help me off the floor but I brushed them away.
I managed to get off the floor, and my gaze immediately fell on Gia.
“I'm so sorry, Rhea,” she cried out, as she embraced me.
“It's not your fault” I wiped my tears, while she helped me upstairs to my room.
Ever since my mum's death, I have never experienced love in my life. Ethan was the only one who spared me a glance, but the minute he heard of my arranged marriage with the Alpha King, he immediately broke up with me.
I couldn't blame him, because the Alpha King was everyone's nightmare. At the mere mention of his name Trevor Lucifer , people shiver.
His ruthlessness was not just a mere rumor. I had confirmed it myself when he came to ask for my hand in marriage. He spoke as though it was an order and not a request.
My father accepted his proposal in the blink of an eye. He did it to fulfill his selfish desires for more power. As an Alpha, what other way could there be to have your daughter married to the Alpha King?
“You are doing this for your people. You are doing this to end the war between our pack and the Gemstone pack.” Gia wiped my tears as she put on my veil.
“There are other ways to end this war. But, my father chose to sell me off to a man older than him. It's not fair!” I cried holding on to her arm.
“It's okay. Just stop crying, you'll ruin your makeup completely” Gia advised me, as she helped me prepare.
“Who's that?” Gia asked when we both heard a knock at the door.
“It's Lucas. The Alpha wants to know if she's ready.” Lucas, my father's Beta and my worst enemy asked.
“Yes, we'll be out soon,” Gia informed him.
I took a glance at my reflection in the mirror. A half-smile crawled on my face when I noticed how the maids had cleverly hidden my reddish face behind all the makeup.
I took a deep breath, as Gia walked me downstairs to the car. She was my best friend. She is the only person my father allowed me to associate myself with because she was Lucas's daughter. It's strange how I hate the father and so much admired the daughter.
“Everything will be okay. Just remember to put a smile on your face. People are watching” Gia advised as we both sat in the car.
“They won't see my face, Gia. I have a veil on” I quickly reminded her.
By the time we arrived at the altar, everyone was already seated. I clutched onto the flowers while my dad walked me down the aisle with a big smile on his face.
If a DNA test is done, I am sure the results would prove that I am not his child. Because no man in his right senses would sell off his daughter like this without a second thought.
He placed my hand on the Alpha King’s old and wrinkly palm. I squealed as a lump formed in my throat.
I guess I had underestimated the power in the hands of the Alpha King, as he held on firmly to my hands.
The priest looked at me with pity, before he fixed his glance on the Alpha King.
“Do you, Alpha Trevor Lucifer , take Rhea Marvick to be your lawfully wedded wife? In sickness and in health to death do you part?” He threw the question I had long been fearing.
“I do” The Alpha King was quick to respond.
“Do you, Rhea Marvick, take Alpha Trevor Lucifer to be your lawfully wedded husband in sickness and in health till death do you part?” He asked me.
I looked randomly in the crowd, and my gaze fell on Gia.
There was only one thing I had in mind, and that was to run.
“Run Rhea!” My wolf screamed in my head.
