Chapter 5
This couldn't be good. He didn't look a bit like the person I woke up to yesterday. And his posture was threatening.
But I was furious too. He couldn't inform me a day before that I was supposed to pick up his coffee for him, expect me to miraculously have it and appear on time when I didn't even know!
“Mr Petridis, with all due respect, I didn't know you needed to have this particular coffee beforehand. I had to go all the way across town to get it” I started explaining myself like a schoolgirl who was being cautioned on why they were late for school.
I was stuttering and it didn't help that the suit he wore today was mouth watering and tailored to his body in an ungodly fashion.
Good God! This man was the real definition of sex on legs. He was marvelous to look at.
I lost my original train of thought so he used that opportunity to draw closer to me without me noticing when he got that close.
He took his time to sniff me, which on a normal occasion I would find weird but this man wasn't like any normal person I had met.
He started circling me like a wolf circles its prey before attacking. I felt stuck, I didn't know whether to move or stay frozen on the spot.
He noticed me struggling and smirking proudly. He stood in front of me now wearing that panty dropping smile.
I exhaled slowly, not noticing before that I was holding my breath. I stretched my hand out to give him the coffee cup.
“Here–here’s your coffee sir” I said, still waiting for him to take it from my hands.
Slowly, as if calculating his movements, he took it from my hands, his fingers accidentally brushing mine.
I immediately felt a thrill run right through me, I jolted backwards at the shock of it.
He arched a perfectly shaped eyebrow at the action.
An awkward silence gave way to a realization that I had been standing in the middle of his office staring at him since I entered.
“Oh shit, um can I get to work?” I was confused and a little annoyed.
He shook his head at me and then gestured for me to pass. Walking past him he said, “Let today's actions not repeat itself again”
I paused in my step and turned around to answer him not knowing he was still standing close to me.
I gasped at the close proximity and went to take a step back but he stopped me with a hand on my waist.
He then proceeded to bend down over me to the point that he was a breath away from kissing me.
He stopped suddenly and said, “Why would you let me get this close to you? Don't you know that means trouble?”
At that, my eyes widened and I scrambled to get away from him to my desk as fast as possible.
He straightened up and coughed to clear his throat.
“I expect you here with my coffee every morning. Not late. On time. Is that clear?” He asked arrogantly.
I was seething under my breath but I still managed to reply ‘Yes sir’ and went to do the mountain of work he had for me.
Throughout the day he kept making me run round the office, going downstairs to get a file or taking a message to his partners. I was beyond exhausted but I learnt to keep my cool.
By lunchtime I thought I could finally catch a break. I got up, getting my purse so I could go to the cafeteria and get something to eat.
“Where do you think you're going?” He stopped me in my tracks.
I frowned, looked down at my watch to check if it was actually lunch time or I had made a mistake.
But my time was correct so I looked up to him in confusion.
“I am going down for lunch sir” I said, gesturing to the door in an attempt to be obvious.
Smirking, he didn't seem to do anything without a smirk on his face, he stood up to carry his keys.
“You,” he said pointing to me, “are coming with me. We're having lunch together”.
With that he started walking towards the door while I just stood there with my mouth wide open in shock.
What did he just say? “With all due respect, Sir. I cannot have lunch with you. It is highly inappropriate” I said suddenly walking towards in a hurry.
“Says who?” He said when we reached the short hallway leading to the elevator.
I bristled and sputtered trying to find the right words to reply to him but came up short.
“I said so. I want to have lunch alone. Am I not allowed to?” I asked absurdity laced in my tone.
He looked at me casually, shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to push the button for the ground floor in the elevator.
I wanted to pull my hair out in frustration but I managed to keep it together for a few more seconds.
“We have a meeting with an investor and he agreed to meet and talk over lunch today. And you have to come with me” he said, not leaving any room for objection.
I could not believe this man!
I felt the beginning of annoyance bubbling in my chest and I was begging the universe or whoever was in control to help me in this situation as we both entered the elevator.
“Besides, you're paid to do whatever I say”
