Chapter 3

Having walked the red carpet, I was relieved that no host, unlike before, dragged me on stage for a cringeworthy chat, pulling topics from everywhere.

My seat was arranged in the corner, but I was quite satisfied.

Back when I was in the front row, center seat, even feeling bored and yawning was not allowed, but now I was much more at ease.

Watching a wave of unfamiliar faces from the new generation, I mused, "Five years really do fly by."

The finale featured Jacob and his group walking the red carpet to promote their new movie.

Jacob had grown even more handsome, and the leading lady was quite beautiful too.

The host, trying to warm up the audience, suddenly asked, "What's the most bizarre reason for a breakup you've ever heard?"

The leading actress, Ella, covered her mouth shyly and glanced at the celebrated actor. "I-I've never been in a relationship."

I frowned. Was this what counted as good acting among the new generation?

Everyone chuckled knowingly and applauded.

The host then turned to Jacob and asked, "What about Jacob? Surely you haven't never been in a relationship like Abigail, right?"

Jacob scanned the crowd and our eyes met. My heart tightened.

Then, he said somberly, "My first love said our driver’s license numbers were different, so it was destined by the heavens that we couldn’t be together."

I had a vein throbbing on my forehead.

He still dwelt on it after all these years? No wonder they said not to date someone younger. Did he remember so well?
