Five years after stepping away from the spotlight, I attended my first event with my agent accompanying me the whole time, more nervous than I was. I was doing alright. Even right before entering, I was still scrolling through X.

"Abigail is also attending today. Looking forward to it."

"Must be running out of money. I thought we'd see her next in a live stream."

"What works does she have that everyone remembers her?"

"Am I really that old? Do kids nowadays not even recognize Abigail?"

"It's hilarious. She's been out of the scene for five years. Where does she think she fits in showbiz now, especially when Ella is much prettier and a better actress?"

Alas, the familiar tone of the entertainment industry.
