Chapter 7: Shattered Trust.

Third POV:

Laura looked at her uncle, not believing what he had just said to her.

“ What do you mean by that Uncle? “. She replied, her voice laced with anger.

“ Listen, Laura, I would have arrived a few days earlier but I had to get some information regarding the man I heard is the husband of my niece and the Alpha of your pack. I did some digging and realized that he is from a pack that no longer exists, so literally he is a rogue. I don't know what he might have told you but I have heard some shitty things about him dear.” He said seriously.

“ You know what uncle, I don't think you are welcome here any longer. Did you come all the way here to check up on me or to ruin my marriage by spilling such lies out of your mouth about my Alpha?” I replied, venting.

“Of course, I came for you Laura, how can you say that? I am only trying to look out for my niece.” He replied, trying to convince me.

“You call this looking out? Please just leave before I say the wrong things to you Alpha Sam.” She said with so much venom.

“ Are you being serious Laura? Alpha Sam? Do you want me to leave? This is so unlike you Laura.” He said, obviously not expecting that.

“Yes, I want you to leave, now.“ she replied.

Alpha Samuel, feeling disappointed, leaves Luna's house with no other choice. He knew he had to do this for now but made promises to himself to get to the bottom of this and save the only family his sister left behind.

Laura feeling lonely and now had to deal with this new information was confused and didn't know what to do. She needed to know what was going on.

On the other side of the forest, information got to Alpha Alex regarding the visit of Luna's uncle, he received Intel from one of the guards in the pack house where they live. He had been warned about the Alpha of the crescent moon pack. He knew how resourceful and strong their pack was.

He quickly returned home to Laura the very next day

“ Hello beautiful, look who is home,’’ Alex said to Laura, kissing her cheeks as soon as he got home.

“ Hey Alex, you are home early. I thought you would be at the borders for the next few days.” She replied with curiosity.

“ I finished up quickly and decided to surprise you. And we haven't had a lot of time together for a while now. I figured we could use spend the extra together.’’ He said

“ Okay, I guess that's reasonable.’’ She replied, not so sure of his reasons.

“ Come on love, you don't sound like you miss me. Or didn't you?’’ Alex inquired, wanting to get his Luna's full attention.

“ Of course I do, I am just surprised to see you, that's all. By the way, how was your trip?’’ She replied, trying to get information regarding the pack.

“ It was okay.’’ He replied, trying to brush off the topic.

“ Is that all? Nothing happened? Why were you there in the first place?.” She asked, not backing down.

“ I don't understand you anymore Laura. I thought coming home earlier than expected would make you happy, especially with how our conversation ended the last time. So why all these questions?’’ He questioned.

“ I don't think I have done anything wrong here Alex, I am happy that my husband is back home but I am also this pack's Luna, so I deserve to know about the affairs of the pack. Why is that so wrong? You don't involve me anymore and I am not happy about that.” She replied wanting to make him understand her.

“ You are my wife, I am your Alpha and you should trust me, not question me. If there is nothing else, I am tired, I need rest.’’ He replied, walking into the bathroom.

Laura decided to let sleeping dogs lie until later, she thought maybe that was the wrong time for such a discussion, like he said, he needed rest.

Maxwell decided that he would protect his mate the best way he could. He had dedicated his life to serving his Luna, and his pack. He volunteered to work at the borders of the pack's territory to help avoid the intrusion of rogues. He didn't want anything happening to his mate and Luna. He needed to protect her.

He had wondered why the Alpha rarely visited the borders and when he did, it was always with the chief Magnus. He didn't know much about the political affairs of the pack but he knew that the council of elders had nothing to do with visiting the borders. The only person who is supposed to do that accompanying the Alpha and Luna, is his Beta, who he knew wasn't from their pack as well until he was appointed by the Alpha.

He also did this to stay as far as possible physically from his mate because his wolf cried bitterly every day for her. He knew he had to respect her choices. He loved her.

Later that day, Laura spent time in her room, reading a book.

“My love, can I speak with you for a moment?” Alex had asked his wife, dropping the tray in his hand on the table next to the sofa she sat on.

“ Sure, why?” She questioned him staring at the tray which contained her favorite cookies and juice combo.

“ I just want to apologize for my outburst this morning and my actions lately, I don't want us to fight anymore. And I promise henceforth that I will carry you along on important matters regarding the pack. So please let's make up and please take this as a peace offering. I know it's your favorite comfort food.” He replied, offering the cookies to her.

“ Okay. You are right, and thank you, I appreciate that you heard me.’’ She replied smiling and eating the cookies and juice.

“ Why aren't you having some, you usually have this with me.’’She said as she had her way with the snack.

Halfway through the combo, she felt very weak and dizzy, she tried reaching out to her husband but it seemed like he had other plans.
