Chapter 4: Heartstrings and Homeland.

Third POV:

The palace now seemed warm and Laura seemed happier as Alex and Laura showed love to each other. They played around like puppies. Laura knew that she was already in love with Alex, so she took Alex as the love of her life, having not found her mate yet, she believed that he was the one not minding the time frame and the fact that they just met.

They because so close and one time almost had sex, but Alex refused it, Laura felt bad at first that she was rejected by Alex but he kissed her and assured her that he wanted to save her until marriage but he refused her because he was already warned by Sonia against it even though be felt sexually attracted to the princess So as they were both in the room.

Sonia was alone in the living room but then decided to go meet them there. She knocked at the door and was asked to come in which she did, and then sat on the chair beside the bed.

“I was alone outside so I felt lonely and came here,” Sonia said

“Okay, we all have to stay here then,” Laura said trying to be as composed as possible especially after what had happened before her friend walked in

“So what could we all sit here doing? I am curious to know more about you Laura,” Alex said trying to ease the tension in the room.

“Okay, so what do you want to know, handsome?” Laura inquired.

“Okay, lovebirds, Let's just say talk about ourselves then,” Sonia said.

“Okay” Laura replied

Laura was about to say something about herself before a knock came through the door. She went to check who was there, and it was her maid. She came to deliver the News that her presence was needed in the living room, she asked who it was, and the maid told her it was the chief elder that came looking for her.

She ordered the maid to tell the chief elder that she would be there soon. Laura went back into the room and wore an oversized gown and rushed to the living room.

“Greetings to you my chief elder how are you doing and why the sudden visit,” Laura said

“Greetings to you also my queen, well, I am in good shape. I came here for a purpose” Magnus said.

“I am here to remind you that we are without a king, my dear since we lost our beloved king. We need a new king that would replace and sit on the throne. Laura, my dear, what I am insinuating is that you should find someone and get married as soon as possible or a new king will be chosen by the council as per the customs and the king would pick a bride for himself.” Magnus explained.

“Okay chief, I understand you, and if I must confess, I already have a love interest, I am only requesting for a little time, as soon as he proposes, I will inform you and the chiefs,” Laura said.

Satisfied with her response, he smiled and nodded.

“It's getting so late, my queen, I would have to leave at once,” Magnus said after a while.

“Okay Magnus, have a nice day bye,” Laura said

Magnus left and Laura watched him as he left through the entrance door. She waved bye to him and went back to her room. She entered the room and saw Alex discussing with Sonia and joined them.

Laura was so happy meeting someone she could love and rely on, especially after the alpha's death, she was so in love with him and waited for him to be hers.

At the other end of the forest, Maxwell, who was so tired and weak that night, had to explain all that had happened to him and his cousin Xavier; he explained to his father how they were attacked by the rouges. And also how the man came to help them.

“Father, Xavier and I were attacked by the rouges, we couldn't defeat it because it was too strong for us, we are sorry Dad”. He said knowing his father probably felt disappointed.

“The rogue gave us scars and wounds on our bodies. Xavier had hit his head during the fight and until now, Xavier hasn't regained consciousness he is still in there. I was able to get my claws and strike it in the middle of its chest. He ran away. I was so weak that I couldn't lift myself not to talk to anyone.

A few moments later, after the rogue was gone, I saw this man coming towards me. I was already so weak and scared, especially for Xavier, but fortunately, he held me and Carried Xavier on his back and brought us here. He gave me food and gave me treatments for the scars, I must say he is a good man, so you don't have to fight or quarrel over anything” Maxwell narrated.

“Can I see Xavier, please?” Xavier's father asked.

The man pointed in the direction of the room where Xavier was.

“But why had he insisted that we leave? Knowing fully well that the both of you were here with him, he even tried chasing us away from his home” Julian said.

“Well I didn't know you were his father, I thought you were one of those rogues that were looking for him. That was why I chased you out” the man explained.

“But I mentioned that I was his father,” Julian said

“You know, years back my family was attacked by a rogue that killed all my family members. I was the only one who had survived then because I managed to hide from them, I came here and built a house and since then, I haven't had anyone to stay with me, I felt I had someone since I found them, but then you both came in here claiming that they were your sons, I had doubts and just wanted them to be safe”. The man said emotionally.

“Oh I am sorry for the loss okay, but this is my only son and child. I can't bear the pain of losing him and thank you for your help ” Julian said

Xavier had gotten a little better and he and his father came outside. They were happy to have their son's back. They knew they had to spend the night at the man's house because it was too late to move outside and asked the owner if he could allow them to spend the night at his place. The man granted their request and gave them a room where they would lay their heads.
