Out Of Luck

“Hello. Tilda, where are you?” I asked looking at my wrist watch.

“I’m so sorry, liv. Harry developed a stomach upset, we are currently at a clinic” Matilda replied over the phone.

“Oh my god, how is he feeling now” I wasn’t expecting her response.

“He’s a bit better, but the doctors said he will need to stay here overnight, liv, I’m so sorry, you’d have to go to the concert alone” she apologized.

I had to go to the concert alone, after searching for a free parking space which took forever because of the number of cars there, I walked to the entrance and met two security guards with the doors locked.

I greeted them and started rummaging through my purse trying to find my tickets.

“Hello, here’s my ticket” I showed it to them when I finally found it.

“I’m sorry ma’am. But the concert has already started” one of them said blocking my way.

I couldn’t believe my ears, this can’t be happening.

“No.. no.. no.. that can’t be, please sir, I really need to be in there, look, look at the tickets” I begged desperately.

“I’m sorry ma, but we can’t open these doors as the special seven will soon be on stage” the second guard replied, this time more firmly.

“Please can you make an exception for me, I promise to be as quiet as I can be, I really travelled far to be here, I can’t afford to miss it” I pleaded as my voice broke, I was close to tears.

“Like I said ma, no one else is allowed in, please leave.” he pointed towards the parking lot.

I stood there for over 20 minutes pleading with them all to no avail, I finally walked away dejected, I can’t believe the special seven were this close to me yet I can’t get to them and the only thing standing in my way was two middle aged security guards and that damn doors. I guess luck was on my side today because while moving towards the parking lot i saw a back door that was left open but i would have to go over the fence, I pushed away common sense from my head and walked towards the fence, Adrenaline pumped through her body as i looked to make sure the guards weren’t watching me, God knows what they would do to me if they saw me climbing over the fence, When I was sure they weren’t coming, I looked at the dwarf wall and braced myself, lifting my legs up I began the climb but halfway through the wall I became light headed the wall was taller than I assumed.

Fear engulfed me, I loved the special seven but I wasn’t willing to lose my life to prove it, I could give anything for those security guards to find me right now, I know I would be in a lot of trouble but at least I would be alive. I looked around for a savior but the yard was empty, just when I was about to shout for help a voice cut me short. “Are you about to break your legs?” I watched as the owner of the voice walked to the fence. I seized the opportunity to ask for help, he can scold me later.

“Excuse me sir, please can you help me down, I’m really terrified up here.” i pleaded.

The man looked up at me and shook his head, I was sure he wanted to turn around and leave me to my fate but surprisingly he stretched out his hands and help me down. After dusting my trousers, I turned to thank him, I noticed he had a hat and face mask on, preventing me from getting a good look at him. he only tilted his hat in response and went into the venue. I was grateful to have successfully entered the yard but I couldn’t shake the feelings that he looked familiar. I walked into the building, and found myself back stage; I bent my head trying to blend with the workers while finding my way to the main venue, there was a spot at the front row which I gladly occupied. The special seven were announced just as I had my sit; the crowd immediately went bizarre with cheers, a lot of screaming and hooting, they were really excited, but I was more excited and silently thanked harry for loving my friend so much to get this ticket.

A chill went down my spine, the special seven arrived on stage all dressed in grey robes, black hats and face mask just like the man that helped me, then it struck me, one of the special seven hah helped me. I couldn’t believe her eyes, how can I claim to be a top fan of the special seven and not recognize one of them after being up close with them, what a shame indeed.

The concert soon came to an end after wonderful entertainment from the special seven. I filed out of the venue with the rest of the fans, after getting an autograph from all seven of them, feeling happy and fulfilled, I looked at the security guards at the entrance who denied me entry earlier, they held out the door for guests to leave, they smiled at me as they did to everyone clearly not recognizing me, I fought the childish urge to stick out my tongue at them. I walked to the car park and drove out of the venue feeling excited, too excited to go back to my hotel room, so I decided to go to the bar of the hotel

The bar was filled with people most of whom I presume was at the concert, excitedly chatting over the loud music; I made my way to the counter and plopped myself on a high chair and signaled the waiter.

“Two shots of tequila and a slice of lemon” I said looking around the bar

“Coming right up” he left and came back with my order, pushing away my common sense for the second time this night I took down the two shots. This was the night to give or cares away and be spontaneous for just a few hours.

One hour later and several shots of tequila later, I decided to head back to my room as it was almost midnight but my stomach rumbled, I was hungry; I remembered sighting a Mac and cheese just down the road, I decided to grab dinner quickly before going to my room. It took several efforts to stable my very shaky legs and manage my blurry vision; I staggered outside realizing I was drunk. After several attempt to open my car I finally started the car and drove out. I was having a hard time controlling the steering, it felt like I was driving through a maze, the car swayed along the road until it hit suddenly the vehicle in front, Shit! Shit! Shit! I pressed hard on the brakes but the force took both cars to the side of the road and knocked down the pavements.

The airbags popped out immediately sending all traces of alcohol out of my system. My vision was clearing as I tried to steady my breath, the driver of the van in front came down with the passenger in the front sit and they walked angrily to my car; he tapped on my window and signaled for me to come down. With shaky legs, this time out of fear I came down from my car.

We assessed the level of damage caused, the back of the van had caved in and all windows shattered, the side door laid on the floor. I knew I was in big trouble because the van looked expensive and the damage was much. The other man who I later found out was the boss introduced himself as Hugo, he was so furious and threatened to report me to the police for drinking and driving, the night was not going as I planned.

I couldn’t help the tears that flowed out of my eyes; I went back to my already wrecked car to search for my phone to call Matilda which was impossible because the screen had been bashed too. I looked wearily at the angry man; I was short of words to say to him wiping away my tears I watched as his eyes went from being angry to that of concern.

“Okay look, let me have your number, we should sit and talk about the damages caused to the van when you are fully sober, and as for the report to the police; I will drop it, just make yourself available at this place by 8am tomorrow” he handed me a piece of paper and left after taking my details and confirming them. I sighed in relief as he drove away.
