The noise came from the kitchen so I went in and switched on the lights. I didn’t know whether to be confused or shocked. Liam was vent over the kitchen counter eating directly from the pot, he froze immediately the light came on, he looked like a rat drenched in water, but I was too shocked to appreciate the humor in this because this came as a shock because I had earlier called him to come down for dinner but he told me he wasn’t hungry, but here he was sneaking and eating in the dark.
“What are you doing here” I asked.
“Eating or can’t you see?” he rolled his eyes. What a way to be coy, if he thinks I would let this go without rubbing it on his face then he’s got another thing coming for him, I folded my arms across my chest.
“I can see that clearly but why would you eat in the dark after I called you earlier to come have dinner but you refused.” I raised an eyebrow at him. He placed his hands on the counter and leaned in.
“Listen, the last time I checked I can have dinner at any time I want, or does your job description come with you scheduling our eating time?”
“No. it doesn’t but I….” he cut me short.
“you know what? You can have the kitchen all to yourself.” he walked away, I tried calling him back.
“You’re not done with the food.”
“I lost my appetite.” With that he left the kitchen.
This wasn’t how I wanted it to end, I peeped into the pot, he hadn’t even had enough and if he was truly hungry to have come down by this time then I need to take the food up to him. I knocked at his door and after a few minutes he opened it, I stretched out the plate to him, he was about to close the door on me but I put out my foot to hold the door and shoved the plates to his hands and went back to my room.
If he wanted to be stubborn at least he can be that with food in his stomach.
I came downstairs in the morning to find the pair working out, I watched as their muscles flexed as they moved, the muscles expanded and relaxed in even tone, sweat made their skin oily. The aura around boast of masculinity as they groaned under the weights they carried.
“Are you done ogling at us?” I turned to see Aiden behind me. I guess I was too engrossed in my thoughts that I didn’t notice when he came behind me.
“urhmm… I’m not ogling at anyone, I just came down and saw…” he raised his hand to stop me.
“if you are going to work here, you had better keep your eyes to yourself” he said, and went back to working out. I looked at him for a while at loss of words to say to him. I decided against saying anything and walked into the kitchen, I fixed breakfast for myself alone because I was sure they would reject my offer. My phone rang and the caller ID showed Hugo.
I put the pancake back to my plate, dust my hands and picked up the call.
“Hello, Hugo,”
“Olivia. how are you” he replied over the phone.
“I’m fine and you?”
“I’m fine too, listen what are the boys doing now?” I looked towards the boys and shrugged.
“They are working out”
“Okay. Tell them the manager of the fantastic four is requesting for a collaboration for their second album.”
“Wow, a collaboration between the fantastic four and special seven? That would be wonderful, the fans would love it”
“I know they will, but the challenge would be convincing the boys to do this, if there is anything they hate its letting new people into their circle”
“I have a firsthand experience with that, alright I would let the boys know” I hanged up and hurriedly finished the pancakes. By the time I was done with breakfast the boys were already done with workout.
“Listen up everyone. Hugo just called, he wants me to inform you all that the fantastic four asked for a collabo on their upcoming track.” They looked at me like I was speaking French, finally Wyatt spoke up.
“A collabo? You must be joking”
“It appears I’m not. I know you guys do not like to sing with any other group, but this would be something different for your fans, something away from the regular.” I tried reasoning with them.
“Maybe you do not understand because you just joined us, but Olivia, we do not accept collabo with any other group.”
“Hugo would be here later in the day to explain the details with you. But for now, prepare your mind to do this collabo” I walked away knowing they would be watching me, nothing, I loved the idea of making them speechless.
Hugo came by later and had a talk with the boys, despite their protest I guess they gave in because here they were going over the details with the manager of the fantastic four. I learnt his name was Ricky. They exchanged handshakes then Hugo and Ricky left.
I went into the living room but the boys all had a gloomy look.
“Now that wasn’t so bad, was it?” I asked.
“And what is that supposed to mean” Dylan asked.
“Unlike what you think this would be bad idea”
They ignored me, got up and left. Except for Aiden who looked at me intently, if looks could kill I would have been a dead meat. He made me uncomfortable but I had to do as Hugo said
“What is it? Or are you out of smart words to say to me?”
“I’m just wondering why you are enjoying this so much”
“Enjoying this? Why would you think that?” I was amused.
“You have been all smiles since Ricky got here, you think I didn’t see you snickering?”
“Oh Aiden. I’m excited Hugo got you guys out of your comfort zone” I sat across from him.
“What do you mean by that”
“Even as a fan, I noticed you were in your comfort zone, this collabo with the fantastic four would not only be good for the fans it would also give you some sort of exposure, let us not forget the huge fan base, fantastic four has a huge fan base, add that to your already large fan base and it would be a hit track, the statistics don’t lie, you would be going for different concerts around the world, this can be huge”
“The statistics?”
I looked away, when Hugo told me about the collabo, my business management instinct kicked in. I drew up a statistical algorithm to track the progress the track would make, and after taking out the risks the statistics were looking good. I wanted to present this to Hugo but I wasn’t sure how he would take it. I didn’t know when I told Aiden about the statistics. But it was out there so I had better get it done and over with. I went upstairs and grabbed my laptop.
“Look at this rise, this indicates the rise in fan base, this other red fall indicates the number of fans that might not like the collaboration”
“And what group of people fall into this category?” he said pointing the red fall.
“The fans that loves you more than just fans, the ones that crush on you guys, they wouldn’t like a collaboration with a female group, Its normal.”
He smiled but looked at me thoughtfully “You seem to know a lot about all these”
“Yes. I do, I’m a first class graduate of business administration and management” I replied proudly.
He looked impressed. “Who would have guessed?”
“Well I like beating more than the eyes meet” I shrugged closing the laptop.
“Olivia.” He called out
“Thank you for the information, I will talk to the guys to go into this with an open mind”
Did he just… did Aiden just acknowledged me?
