Chapter Ten - Bye Bye Sweetie.

I stare at Violet for several seconds, my mouth hung open unattractively. I've pictured Violet many times in my head but she's even more beautiful in reality.

"I'm Jake's girlfriend," I respond slowly, breaking the tense silence between us. Violet looks at me in bewilderment before she begins laughing, clutching at her stomach. I stand up straighter, my eyebrow raised at her response.

Multiple seconds pass before Violet realises I'm not amused. Her laughter slowly dies down — "Oh damn. You're not joking are you. . . "

Her eyes roam over my body again and I stiffen up, immediately taking a disliking to her and her attitude.

"No, I'm not joking. What are you doing here?" I respond bluntly, letting my manners fly straight out of thewindow. My respect for this girl instantly vanished the moment she opened her mouth. I hear footsteps behind me and I sigh, closing my eyes —

This is not going to go down well. "Hey Muffin, what's taking so — "

Jake's sentence is cut short as his eyes connect with Violet's. My heart stops beating for a second as I see them both exchange a look between them. Uneasy jealousy stirs in my stomach and I bite down on my lip hard, forcing it to go away. . .

There's nothing to be jealous about.

"Violet?" Jake asked unbelievably, his eyes fixated on her.

"Hey baby," Violet purrs, flipping a perfect strand of hair over her shoulder. I suddenly begin to choke, coughing in complete surprise and shock. Baby?

"Oh I know you didn't just call my boyfriend baby." I snap at her, standing in front of Jake like he's my most prized possession. Violet glares at me from the corner of her eye before she rolls them and fixes her attention back on Jake.

"Jake, say something!" Violet giggles childishly, fluttering her long eyelashes at her. I continue to stare at her in shock, unable to believe the nerve of this girl.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jake asks bluntly, repeating my exact words from before. An instant smirk plasters on my face as I stare down Violet —Yeah that's right, bitch. He's my man.

Violet's eyes flash with hurt at his reaction before she quickly masks it over.

"I came to see you! My family moved back to the area recently. . . Merry Christmas!" She explains, throwing her hands up in the air.

"You say that as if it's a good thing." Jake says, sounding as bewildered as I feel. He shuffles closer to me and drapes an arm around my shoulder, pulling me into him.Now it's his turn to act like the crazy possessive partner but I'm not complaining.

Not at all.

"I've missed you Jake." Violet announces, completely ignoring Jake's cold remark at her. I roll my eyes and step forward, ready to give this girl a piece of my mind. The scent of her perfume hits me as I stare her down, her eyes connecting with mine. They flash with anger and I stare back just as intensely —

"Look Violet — You can't just show up here expecting my boyfriend to fall straight back in your arms. He broke up with you for a reason which means you're not together anymore! You're a cheater and not just that, you cheated with his cousin! Things are not going to be all rainbows and sunshine for you. You shouldn't set out to steal someone else's man . . . It's not a good look." I finish, narrowing my eyes in her direction.

I watch her inhale a breath sharply, steam practically exploding from her ears in anger.

"You really should leave, the desperation coming from you is making me want to hurl." I add, giving her a sweet smile. Her green eyes flash with rage and she sneers at me before turning on her six inch heels and click clacking down the driveway.

I watch her leave, the adrenaline cursing through my body at the sheer audacity of her intentions. Once she's gone, I take a step back and slam the door shut. Behind me, Jake raises one brow, appearing impressed —

"Holy shit Muffin, that was hot."

I smirk back at him, flipping my hair over my shoulder in true diva fashion.

"That bitch tried to steal my man." I respond back at him seriously. He chuckles under his breath, draping an arm over my shoulder before placing a quick kiss on my lips. I smile at him but it quickly disappears as I recall Violet saying she'd moved back to the area. . .

I have a feeling Violet and I haven't seen the last of each other.

"Who was that?" Ivory asks us casually as we enter the living room, biting into a cookie.

"Violet." Jake responds bluntly, seating himself back down on the couch. Ivory spits out the cookie bite she'd just taken, spraying bits of cookie all over the room and floor.

"Violet?!" Ivory yells in surprise, her eyes wide.

"Violet?" Tobias repeats, the colour draining from his face. Jane and Ben look on in confusion, clearly being kept in the dark over the whole Violet, Jake & Tobias situation.

"Violet?" Michelle gasps, eyes flickering between Jake and Tobias.

"Yes, Violet! Is there an echo in here?" Jake shoots back, tension lacing his voice. I bite down on my lip and take a seat next to him awkwardly.

"What is that girl doing back here?" Myra asks, the shock clear as day in her voice. I'm glad I'm not the only one questioning her intentions to show up at the door.

"Her family has moved back to the area." I explain, re-playing our conversation over and over again inside my head. The way her eyes lit up when she looked at Jake confirmed my fear, she wants him back. I feel the contents of my stomach churn, the mountain of food threatening to come back up so I quickly stand to my feet —

"Excuse me," I mutter before heading for the door and running up the stairs to the bathroom. I make it to the toilet bowl with seconds to spare before I spew my guts up, the nauseas feeling increasing by each second.

*****

"Are you feeling okay? I can take you to the hospital to get checked over." Jake says worryingly, handing me a blanket. I wrap it around my body, shaking my head in protest —

"It's just pregnancy sickness, that's all. I feel better now." I re-assure him. The thought of Violet returning along with over eating and being pregnant wasn't a good mix. Jake sighs and drops down onto the bed beside me, running a hand through the dark strands of his hair.

"Just because Violet is back doesn't mean anything is going to change between you and I. You know that, right?" He says firmly, turning to look at me. I bite down on my lower lip, nodding my head slowly.

"What if she tries to get between us?" I ask him. Jake takes hold of my hand, his blue eyes flickering between mine. I feel my heart flutter at the sight of him, wondering how I ever got so lucky.

"I won't let her. Any feelings I had for her disappeared as soon as she slept with Tobias. I love you Emily Wentworth and I want you. I'll always want you and nobody will ever come between that." Jake says firmly, truth behind his every word. My lips stretch out into a smile and any worries I had previously melt away.

"I do love you Jake Melvin." I breathe out contently, snuggling further back into the pillows. Jake drops down next to me, intertwining our fingers together. He raises our locked hands and kisses the back of mine, his own eyes fluttering shut —

"I love you."
