Chapter 7: Double Surprise

Since it was okay for Bela to be late, she did not hurry herself to walk. She and her boss also talked about ignoring the people they were talking to.

When she stepped inside the company, someone immediately greeted her, a male employee there. She did not know who it is but the man was carrying a red rose handed to her. It surprised her because the man suddenly left. Just a few steps away, someone handed her again another flower. At that point, she had a suspicion that it might be her boss’s gimmick. She thought that her boss still really wants to show it to his employees. Bela continued walking and received another red rose. She smiled and wondered how many roses she would receive today.

The joy was obvious in Bela's eyes as she walked but it suddenly changed when she saw who was in front of her. The man was carrying a bouquet of roses.

"Hi Bela! Flowers for you." It makes her wonder if she will accept that. But she did not want to embarrass this man in front of many people.

"Thank you." She then reach the flower and smile. "Why are you doing this?" she said silently.

"Didn't I tell you I will make a way to get rid of the issue of the three of us," the man replied.

"You don't need to do this Ranz. It's another issue I guess."

"No. I'm doing this to win your heart."

Bela didn't answer and remain her mouth shut. Ranz grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the lift.

When they reached the tenth floor, Bela withdrew her hand from Ranz. She needs to stay away from him because her boss is one of a kind agent when it comes to things like suspecting.

"I have to go," she said immediately step outside the lift.

"Take care," Ranz said.

When she opened the office door, her boss appeared.

"Why are you with Ranz again?" Her boss turned to the flower she was holding. "Did that flowers come from him?" Annoyance was evident on the face of her boss.

"I wouldn't have accepted Sir but I don't want to embarrass him," she explained.

"You still accepted," her boss said being annoyed.

"I just accepted Sir but it doesn't mean anything to me," she defensed.

"What will others think, that you really have a relationship?"

"You just said Sir that don't mind the others."

"No! You should put an end with Ranz. Let him know that you are mine." She stopped at her track to what she heard.

"I'm yours?" Her eyes widened. "But I'm not Sir!" she refused. "You didn't even courted me, how come I'm yours?"

"Because you don't like it. You don't want me to be your boyfriend."

Bela suddenly close her eyes for a moment. Does her boss thinking the rooftop scene?

"Because it's too fast, but now I'm ready Sir."

Her boss just looked up to her. "Okay."

Her boss has returned to his table and so is she. She arranged the flowers in the vase that was there. Afterwards, she approach her boss.

"Sir, today is your guest at Life Charity," Bela said informing her boss.

"Get ready because you will accompany me," her boss said.

It took them three and a half hours before arriving at Life Charity. It is located in the province of Nueva Ecija.

As soon as they opened in front of it, it was obvious that there was occasion that was going to happen. That's right, it's second anniversary. Daryl Jacob created this charity where about three hundred children were living here. Those children were those who's abandoned and street children without parents.

The leader of that charity greeted them and invited them inside.

"We're glad you came Mr. Jacob!" greeting of a nun.

From the way people act, Daryl seems to be a very important person there. They headed to the venue where the event would take place and Daryl ad the guest of honor. Famous personalities who help to promote that charity are also invited there.

The children and servants of that charity will sit on the chairs reserve at the ground and the guests will remain at the top of the stage.

The land on which Life Charity stands is vast. Daryl inherited it from his father. But instead of building buildings for income, he thought of helping people who's in need.

After the prayer, the guests spoke one by one, most recently by its founder, Daryl. When they finished, they went inside because the food was ready and set up inside.

"I don't know that you have a charity, sir." She suddenly admired her boss for his kindness. It's not obvious on the face of her boss that someone like this has such a side of being a nice guy .

"I have a lot of money, pockets and banks are not enough to keep it. Why not give it to the one who needs it?"

"Yeah, you're right Sir. If I am that filthy rich like you, I will do the same."

Just then, someone approached Daryl. She is one of the famous personalities in the field of acting, in short actress.

"Good day! You must be Mr. Jacob," the woman said.

"Yes, your right," Daryl replied.

"Can I share a table with you?"

Even though Daryl wanted to spend time alone with his secretary, he just let it go because this one is one of the sponsor of his charity, so he just agreed.

"This is my secretary, Bela Isidro," he introduced his companion.

"I'm Althea Ruz, but you can call me Thea."

"Thank you for being one of the sponsors of this event," Daryl said.

"You're welcome. And actually I am very much willing to do this kind of help especially if this is for your charity."

In this situation, his secretary really feels differently. If not annoyed, it's jealousy and sometimes even both. But at this point, she will reverse the situation. She'll make sure that this man was her alone and no one can have him.

"You're much prettier in person Ms. Althea," Bela praised her. "Right Sir Jacob?" And she even sympathized with her boss.

"Yeah, that's true," her boss replied.

"Thank you Mr. Jacob." The woman just smiled. But disappointment draw on Bela's face because she expects Althea to thank her but she just seems annoyed with the result.

"Maybe a lot of people are flirting with you, Ms. Thea?" Bela said quite intrigue. The woman covered her mouth and laughed slightly at what Bela had said.

"Actually, I have a lot of admirers but I'm not yet ready for a relationship. Let's say I'm waiting for the right one." At the same time, the woman looks at her boss. "How about you Mr. Jacob?" The two looked at each other. Bela's eyes were already talking as if it says to her boss that he must fix his answer.

"I'm also waiting for the right one," her boss replied.

"Really?" the woman asked gladly. In Bela's eyes, it was obvious that she was cursing her boss. "We're both waiting for the right one."

"That must be a fate," Bela whispered.

"No it's not, it's just a coincident." The smile on woman's lips disappeared. "Actually, I already found the right one, I'm just waiting for the right time." Daryl corrected what he said because he notice the way Bela looks at him was kind of scary.

"Oh, good for you Mr. Jacob. That one is a lucky girl for sure," the woman said just to hide her frustration. Not all men will fall for her appearance, even if it is said that she is the famous personalities in showbiz.

They said goodbye to Althea because they still had to tour the building. Daryl wants to see personally what needs to be fixed, deficiencies and needs to be provided for. While walking, Bela couldn't believe what she saw.

"Sir, you really own this charity obviously," Bela said in astonishment.

"How did you say so?" Daryl asked.

"Because in every corner of this building you have a picture Sir," Bela said sarcastically. "They really idolized you Sir."

"Well, I'm not blaming them. The image in the frame looks handsome though," Daryl said proudly. But it's true.

"I agree Sir."

They entered a room because a nun whose in charge took them there.

"The air conditioner is not functioning well, I guess," Daryl commented.

"Yes Mr. Jacob," the nun replied. "We've done it a few times, but I think  some of the air conditioner here are really destroyed."

"How many aircon do you need for the replacement?"

"It's around twenty Sir," the nun replied. His secretary immediately noted that.

"How about television?" Daryl continued.

"The television is all functioning well, Mr. Jacob."

"Right, I will send books here tomorrow. Also, I am planning to build a school here for the children."

"Really Mr. Jacob? The kids will surely be glad when they find out that."

"Of course, they also need to study. I will employ teachers or a nun like you for them to teach those children."

"Thank you, Sir. This is much appreciated, you are really very kind."

After they toured inside Life Charity they also said goodbye to them.

Because they were both tired from the trip, Daryl took his secretary to her condo.

When Bela got to her unit she was shocked. Looks like someone entered her room. She walk slowly with that thought.

"Surprise my dear!" the woman said loudly.

"Mommy!" Bela held her chest. She felt she was going to be attacked. "How did you get in and what are you doing here?" she says in turn.

"For what else and I am the owner of this building, if I can not enter the unit of my unica hija."

"I thought a thief had entered my room."

"Well, you just thought it was hija," her mom said with a smile. "How are you? How's the plan going on?" her mom asked.

"It's pretty close mom, I'm on the middle."

"Good to hear. So how's Daryl?"

"He's good mom. He's handsome. But he still refused to our marriage, I guess."

"You better reveal your true identity."

"No mom! Not yet." She also seems to tell her mother not to say. "By the way mom, what are you doing here."

"I'm going to have dinner with you my dear. I really miss you."

"Are you going to cook for me?"

"Please me."

"Please mom, I miss your foods."

"Well, okay."

Only now they can bond with her mommy again. She was thankful to her boss because she was off to her work a little early today.

Her mother is currently cooking.

"Mom, what movie do you want to watch?"

"Any movies, except horror."

"What? Horror is not scary at all."

"I'm scared."

"Okay fine."

"Just one movie, I'll go home early. You know your dad is waiting for me."

"Sure mom."

When they finished cooking, they ate while watching a movie.

"What are you up to hija?" her mom said.

"What's up mom?" she said wondering what her mom had to say to.

"There's still one and a half month left. What if he didn't fall in love with you?"

"He already likes me mom, he confessed his feelings to me," Bela said complacently because it was true.

"He likes you as Bela Isidro, but not Ysabel." She stopped at what she's doing. Her mother was right. Why did she change her name? She seemed to realize that what she was doing seemed to be wrong. That's really wrong.

"Well that's the same Mom. If he sees me on the day of our engagement, then he will agree because Bela and Ysabel are only one."

"Well, yeah, I guess."

Because what they were watching was coming to an end, Bela put away the food. She was washing dishes when the door phone rang on her unit.

"Bela, you have a visitor," said her mother who went in front of the door. Bela wondered who would visit her at that time. And to think that only Ranz and Daryl know about her place. Suddenly, she hurried to wash the dishes imagining that thing.

"Wait for me mom, don't open yet!"

But her mother opened it immediately. And she was surprised at what appeared to her because Daryl Jacob was there. Only then did Bela go there when she had finished what she was doing.

"Oh my gosh! Sir Daryl?"

Her boss took turns looking at the two in alternate.

"Mrs. Amelie?" Daryl said wondering why the are together. "What are you doing here?"

"Sir! She's the owner of this building, she came here just to visit every unit," Bela said. Fortunately, she immediately thought of an excuse. She almost got caught again.

"Oh yes, I'm about to leave." Bela's mom went back inside and took her bag. "Goodbye." And her mom left them.

"What are you doing here Sir at this hour?" Bela asked.

"I came here to visit you, also to see where you stay."

"Oh, then let's go inside Sir." Bela felt at ease because she finished washing the dishes and they also finished what they were watching. "I know that your place is ten times bigger than mine, but please feel at home."

"Sure," her boss said.

"What do you want Sir? Milk tea, burger or fries?"

"No thanks. I brought snacks here, and I already ate dinner."

"Then I'm going to eat that later, Sir. I'm done with dinner too."

"You're watching a movie?" her boss said when he noticed the CD's on the table.

"I'm watching movie when Mrs. Amelie visit here Sir.

"Why don't we watch movie again?"

She would not have agreed because it just meant that her boss would last longer in her unit. But she did not want to embarrass her boss in her house.

"What about horror Sir? Thriller? Comedy?" she asked randomly.

"Why not romance?" her boss replied. Bela could not believe what her boss said. She wonders why her boss pick a romance genre even he haven't had a girlfriend yet? What a shame?

Because Bela is a Kdrama fan, they just watched the Kdrama series. So it means her boss can really stand there. What they're watching now is "What's wrong with Secretary Kim?" It's kinda old but gold. This is her all time favorite drama series. She is so inlove with the male protagonist Park Seo Joon, to the point that she considers him as her husband.

"What else do you plan for holy week?" She looked at her boss to what it said. By the way, the holy week is coming but she has no plans for that day. Shee was only at home because she used to live in the US.

"None Sir."

"That was great, we're now able to use our one week vacation in Greenland Resort."

Bela had nothing to worry about so she agreed to what her boss wanted. She can't escape that either, so why not do it?

"Nice plan, sir." Bela just smile to her boss. Afterwards they started to watch the series.
