The soft sun rays are what woke me up the other day. This was the first time I actually wanted to get out of bed after 6 am on a Sunday.
I got up and did my morning routine deciding to go take a walk after in order to take in the area and familiarize myself with it as much as possible.
I've been here for more than 10 hours and I still can't get over how beautiful the place was. Workers were already up doing their duty and I paid them a small wave as I walked along a seemingly familiar trail.
It leads into a small forest of trees that had birds and butterflies dancing around it. I heard water rushing close by and went further out of curiosity. I parted the thick branches of a tree and went to another world.
"Oh, my, god," I said with my mouth basically touching the ground at the moment as I stared at the beautiful scenery.
It was a waterfall. The water was beautiful. It was big and deep also, looked pretty dangerous if you asked me. Then suddenly, I remembered how it slowly turned pink after my brother fell in from an impossible height onto the deadly rocks.
That's right, this was where my brother lost his life a few years ago.
I backed away from it slowly even though the beauty was quite hypnotizing.
Why am I afraid? I should stop acting stupid. I am brave and strong. I am not afraid of a waterfall even though I can't swim.
I slowly went and sat on the edge letting my feet dangle in the water and the water falling from the high rocks above splashed me so I got wet. I didn't dare jump down because I know I may never resurface and I would die exactly like how my brother did.
I sat there for a few more minutes just thinking about home when I heard voices. Male voices.
I sprang to my feet protectively and looked around. Suddenly, two boys emerged from where I came from, and when they realized me, they froze.
I couldn't help but admire them. The taller one was shirtless and very muscular. He had jet black hair and grey eyes worth dying for. He was very attractive. The other one was attractive but not like the first. He had dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. His body was built but not very muscular rather lean and firm.
"Who are you?" The cutest one said and I can't help but notice he looked very familiar. Those dimples as he talked and those eyes seemed unforgettable. I was going crazy, I felt like I've known him for years.
"Have we met before?" I blurted out before I could stop myself and he looked at me puzzled.
He was staring at me long and hard making me feel very uncomfortable. "I don't know. What's your name?"
"Uh, Debbie"
He looked at me as if I had grown two heads stepping back slowly.
"Debbie Steele?" He asked as though he couldn't believe it.
"Debbie? As in Debear?" The other one stepped forward but he didn't look too surprised.
"H- how did you know that?" I asked getting very suspicious of these two.
“Debbie, it’s me, Archer,” the black hair one said stepping forward but I held out my hand protectively.
“Archer?” I asked obviously not knowing him and his face soon fell.
"Of course she doesn't remember me," he mumbled then looked directly at me shaking his head in what seemed to be disappointment. "You promised," then without another word, he walked away leaving me dumbfounded.
I looked at where he left confused then turned my gaze to the blonde guy.
Did I promise? Promise what?
"Debbie. I know you don't remember me but I'm Wayne, your friend from years ago," he tried to explain and I tried to match his face with anything from my memory box.
I couldn't. I have always had the memory of a goldfish since I was a kid.
"I'm sorry," I said truthfully but he just shrugged it off.
"It's okay if I didn't miss you this much I maybe wouldn't have recognized you either. You'll come around. In the meantime, how about we talk? It's been 12 years since we've seen each other," he suggested with a cute grin and I nodded sheepishly.
I mean, what harm can this cause?
We sat at the edge of the river talking and just catching up a bit. Soon, I had faint memories but they were mainly of a black hair kid. He even explained to me what happened with my brother and that made me believe he was actually an old friend.
I asked him about the other guy who he said the name was Archer and I felt like I knew him for years. I also remembered my parents mention him some time ago. I tried to know more about him but each time I bring him up, Wayne would quickly change the subject saying that Archer and I weren't as close which was weird because he was more familiar to me.
It was almost midday when we decided to go back to the farm. When I got back, my grandmother threw a fit. She thought something had happened to me because she woke up and I disappeared for hours. She was on the verge of calling my parents and my my, I was lucky.
"So I'll see you around then?" Wayne asked and I nodded with a small smile. Then he suddenly embraced me and I awkwardly hugged him back. "Hey, a couple of friends are going to a diner in town after school Monday. Wanna come along?"
"Oh yeah, sure," I answered and he smiled.
"Good. I'm glad you're back. Bye," he added and I waved to him as he left.
When I turned around I came face to face with a smirking Missy. "What?" I asked innocently rolling my eyes.
"Already?" She asked referring to Wayne.
"No, it's not like that. Plus, I already have a boyfriend," I mentioned walking past her. I heard her gasp and I chuckled but continued walking.
When I entered the house, again, I took the time to admire it before continuing up the stairs. I absolutely did not expect to see Archer up there.
"Oh, hi," I stuttered smiling slightly.
"Hi," he replied but it was so bare and cold that I almost ran and hid under my bed.
What's his problem?
"Do you have a problem with me?" I finally asked crossing my arms.
He looked directly into my eyes and it was then that I realized his eyes weren't grey but a shiny type of silver. He shook his head slightly chuckling.
"Ever since we were kids. You always seemed to forget pretty easily," he remarked before he walked past me and left.
Um, what was that supposed to mean? And why does it sound very familiar?
Still a bit troubled by his words, I entered my room and closed the door and it was then I realized that my heart was beating really fast.
Ignoring it, I went to sit on my bed and turned on my phone listening to some of WayV.
