Chapter 2: Admired with my father

Narrated by Amy

I walk along the corridor that gives access to my father's office, and I see a very presentable, beautiful, well-dressed lady coming towards me.

She passes me by, and not even good days give me. How rude, but I've seen her here more than once.

I walk into Sally's office, my father's secretary.

Amy: -Who was that van that left here?

Sally is uncomfortable.

Sally: -I don't know my angel, ask your father.

I'm suspicious of her reaction.

Amy: -It seems you don't like her very much either!

Sally: -I prefer not to comment on that lady. But it looks like she won't come back, at least I hope so.

More and more intrigued I enter my father's room.

He looks at me.

George: -Oh, is that you?

Amy: -Did you think it was that impruada that left here just now?

He turns white for a moment and then tries to hide it.

George: -No, of course not - he says as he goes through the papers.

I sit across from him and stare at him without saying anything.

He looks at me.

George: -You're making me uncomfortable looking at me like that.

Amy: -Like what?- I ask making a fool of myself.

George: -Just like you're looking at Amy.

Amy: -Who is she? - I ask, so dryly.

He looks at me in surprise.

George: -She who?

Amy: -Oh dad, I'm not a child anymore, stop talking and talk soon.

He sits down.

George: -I don't know what you want me to tell you!

Amy: -Tell me who the woman is, who left your office. It's simple, not a difficult question to answer, is it?

He looks at me increasingly uncomfortable with the conversation.

George: -Amy, she is the Director of a beauty company.

Amy: -Um, okay. So what has she come here to do? And excuses from looking at me like that, it's not the first time I've seen her, what I didn't know was that she's rude, she passed me by and didn't even say good morning.

George: -Amy I, oh, I…

Amy: -Dad, why are you stuttering?

George: -Oh Amy, so many questions, dear God.

Amy: -If you said it right away, I wouldn't ask so many questions!

Of course, affff.

George: -Okay, she and I go out a few times.

I look at him in amazement.

Amy: -Is this serious? Wow, I had no idea.

George: -I lost your mother more than 20 years ago, daughter, but I didn't die, right? I respected her memory for years, but… you know, you're an adult. But I realized I don't want to date her anymore, so I ended what was between us, and she left upset.

I realized how uncomfortable my father is with the conversation.

Amy: -Okay dad, I understand - I close the conversation there - but I came here to talk about the meeting this afternoon.

We talked about the meeting and I left.

It had never even crossed my mind that my father had such fleeting relationships, oh my God, he's human isn't he, but it doesn't seem like him at all, always so full of traditions.

I'm so distracted I don't even see them.

-Amy Thompson Harrison.

Damn, nobody calls me that.

I look over and see James and Grace.

Amy: -You here? - I say hugging them happily.

Despite everything, we still get along well and like each other, I adore them and they are still my dear in-laws.

James: -How beautiful you are Amy - says James.

Amy: -Oh, that's your eyes.

I remember Alex, he is similar to his father, the eye color is the same, green, both are tall.

I sigh when I remember him, finally.

I call my dad and we agree to have lunch the four of us together.

We never talked about Alex. Sometimes I have a crazy curiosity to ask about him, to know how he is. He must not even remember me, or talk about me, or anything.

I end up putting my curiosity in my pocket and asking nothing, I don't want them to think I'm too interested, when in fact I'm not, I just wanted to know, that's it, just curiosity. Well, it doesn't matter.

George: -Do you always go to France? - asks my father.

Grace: -Yes, let's go. We have to go solve some problems there at the factory. Alex doesn't want to meddle in factory affairs, so we have to go there.

My antennas stay alert, they barely speak in France and Alex, I don't think I even heard the rest, a factory they said, right? Oh, never mind.

George : -Well, if that's the case, you have to go, Alex never liked the factory very much, did he? - asks my father.

James : - We had already sold it for him and we are honestly thinking about it, it will also be one of the reasons to go there, find a buyer, we are no longer old enough to take care of the factory and Alex doesn't want to, it makes no sense to continue.

Amy: -Is he okay? - I ask unexpectedly, the fuck the question flew out of my mouth.

The three of them look at me like I'm a UFO.

Grace: -Yes, it is - answers Grace with a slight smile on her face.

I try to disguise my shit.

Amy: -I'm glad - I say feeling really stupid - well, I have to get back to the company.

I get up, say my goodbyes and leave quickly so as not to say more shit.

I enter the company looking like a hurricane, I really am a tapir, asking that was stupid, now they're going to start with caraminholes on those heads.

Matt: -Amy Thompson Harrison, I didn't even remember you called yourself that ahahah.

Matt making fun of me, the normal thing about life.

Amy: -What do you want, besides making fun of me - I say crossing my arms.

Matt: -Nothing, I just found it funny - he looks at me attentively - why do you never introduce yourself like that?

Amy: -Because my name is Amy Thompson, why else could it be?

Matt: -Na, na ni, na, no - he says making a negative sign with his index finger - since you married my dear friend Alex, who became Mrs Amy Thompson Harrison AHAHAH.

And laughs, like a hyena.

I give him a slap on the back of the head.

Matt: -Oh, why did you give it so hard? - he says as he rubs his hand on the back of his neck.

Amy: -Because you're a retard, just like your friend.

I continue on my way, fuck them both.
