Chapter Five
Just like what we planned last night. Venice and I visited some branches of the coffee shop that I own. We just checked what needs to check and leave as soon as possible so we could rest for our shopping spree with Francine tomorrow. We’re going to buy our dresses for the party of Francine’s brother.
But then Francine texted me when we got home.
Francine:
I can’t go tomorrow, Isabelle. I have to pick my brother from the airport tomorrow.
I sighed and replied that it's okay and she should take care. After she replied to her thank you, I didn’t reply anymore. I told Venice about it and she just said okay.
The next morning, Andrei and Venice picked me from my house so we could go to the boutique that we like going to. Andrei decided to just choose his suit in this shop because he’s already here. Venice helped him picking up. He was easy to find a perfect suit for him, while Venice and I are having a hard time picking for what we want.
“I can’t decide what to wear, it’s both amazing and…” Venice purses his lips as she shows me the blue long gown and long back black dress.
“The black one looks better,” I suggested. She was hesitant at first but then she agreed to what I said and called the sales lady to assist her in the fitting room.
I went to the third aisle to find a gown for me. Francine said to us that some media are invited to the party so we should look good. I rolled my eyes on her when she said that because she’s always the one who looks lame. I looked around the whole place until my eyes stopped in front of the white long gown. The gown looked simple yet elegant with the diamond in the middle of the lace and the hem of the upper part of the gown. It was backless, the fabric of it is good too. It looks really elegant!
“It looks good,” I heard a voice from my back, as I turned my back to see who it is. A face of an angel is what I saw. Her pouty red lips suit her pointed nose and small eyes, her long curly brown her suits the clothes she’s wearing.
Her face is small and she looks fragile. I don’t even think that she’s a human because she looks like an angel. Her short eyelashes made her look innocent, her white and fair skin suits her and her aura screams that she’s from a rich family.
“Uh, yeah,” I said and tried to smile at her.
“You should buy it,” she said. “I like it, but you are the first person to notice it so I better back off and let you buy it.” she laughed making her eyes look even small. Her perfect white teeth made her look even beautiful.
I think the long dress that I’m staring at looks better to her than she will look more like an angel if she wears this, but I really like it so I better buy it because she had a point. I saw it first, so I should buy it.
“I know it looks elegant…” I answered.
“I know right,” I smiled at her again she looked nice and sweet “I am Zayrene by the way” she offered her hand on me and I immediately accepted it. Even her hands feel so soft.
“Isabelle,” I was about to add more but my phone rang for a call. I said my excuse to her and she nodded at me and let me answer the call. I called a sales lady first to assist me with the gown that I pick.
After we bought the things we needed, we go home already and Andrei was the one who drives us home. He dropped Venice first before me. He parked his car in front of my house. Ever since I graduated from college, I stopped going to my old condo unit. I decided to just have my own house when I had enough income already.
I was about to remove my seatbelt already when Andrei suddenly called my name.
“Isabelle,” he said
I looked at him with curiosity on my eyes, he sighed first before taking one of my hands.
“What is it, Andrei?” I asked using a cold tone.
“Be my date,” he mumbled “Tomorrow,” he continued.
I smiled at him before I shook my head. I don’t want to hurt Francine’s feelings. I know she likes Andrei and it will hurt her if I will accept Andrei’s offer for me to be his date.
“I will go to the party with no date,” I said coldly before finally unbuckling the seatbelt on me. I went out to his car; I saw his face with the use of street lights. He has this sad expression painted on his face as I walk my way towards the gate of my door.
“Do you still love him?”
It made me stop, it made me think, and it made me feel the pain again.
Yes, “No,” I lied
I pressed the doorbell of my house and went inside immediately the moment our guard open it for me. I didn’t bother to look at Andrei anymore.
Later that night, I just chose to sleep all the thoughts running inside my mind after his question.
Venice went to my house so we could go together to the part. , Francine sends us the invitation card and the address of the place. It was in the James’ Five Star hotel owned by Amanda James, Sandex ex-girlfriend. It’s a five-star hotel and it is exclusive for important people only.
I asked our driver to drive us to the hotel, less hassle for me and Venice. When we got there, Andrei welcomed us with a smile. He looks dashing with his suit right now and beside him is Francine who finally got herself a nice gown. She looks amazing and gorgeous with her orange long gown. Her hair is tied in a bun.
“Wow, Venice and Isabelle you looked so gorgeous.” Francine compliments us.
“I know right,” said Venice with full of confidence.
“You too,” I said in a sweet tone.
I was surprised when Francine clings her arms on Andrei’s. He only smiles at me before his eyes focused on Francine who is smiling like an idiot because her crush is her date. I secretly smirked at a smile. Look at it; my rejection turns out to be a blessing for them because they can finally get some quality time together.
“Let’s go,” Francine called us and we all went inside together. Everyone looked so nice and extravagant. The place is good too
I saw the media on the side
“Let’s sit here,” Francine called our attention even if her eyes are still fixated to Andrei, same goes with him. They just can’t stop staring at each other. I heard Venice giggling because of it before we sat on the table that Francine reserved for us.
“Want some drink?” Andrei asked Francine, his eyes are focused on her as if she’ll disappear.
I felt Venice’s breathe on my ears. “Seems like there’s something between these two already…” she chuckled and I can’t help but to laugh and agree to what she said.
“Yes please,” Francine answered Andrei’s question.
“Then let’s go,” our attention went to Andrei. And here I am thinking that he will get her a drink. Looks like he is even going to take her to get some drink.
“Huh?” Francine sounded confused as she looks at Andrei. Looks like she’s as confused as us, expecting that Andrei will go alone.
“I want you to come with me, I don’t want you to leave my sight.” I can’t help but cringe at what he said. Andrei is cheesy and I couldn’t help but feel like I am going to puke, same with Venice who’s looking at them with disgusts written all over her face.
I saw how Francine’s cheeks immediately turned red because of what he said. In the end, they really went together. We watched them heading towards the buffer area where the drinks are located. The waiters are serving wine, maybe that’s why they decided to just stand up and get some drinks there. Francine is not an alcohol drinker, that’s why.
When we got back, the emcee started the announcement. I was too preoccupied with my own thoughts to even bother listening or for the emcee to get my interest. First of all, I don’t even know who’s going to get engaged tonight.
“And now let’s welcome the soon to be Mr. and Mrs.” I took my phone out to my pocket and check the messages of my employee, asking me if I’ll go to work tomorrow in my main branch.
“Mr. Sky Martin Dela Vega and Zayrene Gomez…” I was stunned on my sit as I heard what the emcee just said. I turned my gaze at Venice and she’s smiling as she claps her hand together with Andrei and Francine. I want to look in front… but I can’t. My body doesn’t want to confirm what I just heard.
I slowly turn my back to look at the person who’s on the stage.
I… I want to… just go home.
My tears slowly pooled on my eyes. I felt the hot liquid forming into my eyes going down on my cheeks as I saw him standing straight with his hand on the back of the girl who looks like an angel, wearing a long white gown.
I gape, I tried to wipe my tears away but it won’t stop from falling, it breaks my hearts. I feel like someone is stabbing me many times on my chest, I feel like someone is ripping out my heart.
“See, I told you my brother is handsome.” I heard Francine’s voice; I am so glad that their eyes are focused on the stage. My palm went on my mouth to stop myself from making a noise. My heart is tightening as I watch the guy in the stage that left me three years ago.
My heart is throbbing hard and it’s breaking apart as I watch him smile in front of the girl he’s going to marry. I can feel how my heart is slowly breaking and bleeding as stare at them. They looked so perfect for each other. So perfect that if I try to think of what we had before… ours felt nothing compare to them.
I stood up without letting my friends notice it. I tried to run my way out from the venue even if I was having a hard time because of my gown and the dress that I am wearing.
I kept on running and running, I don’t know where I am going.
I just stopped running when I hit someone. I was about to say sorry but I smelled a familiar scent and his touch was something I am used to. I felt my knees turning into jelly and I’m feeling weak as I left my face bury on his chest. I started crying as he runs his fingers on my hair.
“I’m here, Isabelle. Just cry,” the familiar voice of Zack made me break down.
It hurts seeing the one I love the most is getting married after he left me hanging.
