CHAPTER TEN: Drop The Formalities

Amira’s POV

“Hello, I know that I am handsome, but you don't need to be so stunned,” Bryan said with a cocky smile.

His voice snapped me out of my shock, and I just scoffed at him.

“You wish,” I said with a sneer, and his expression immediately changed.

“Amira, why are you being rude to him? I brought my friend to meet you, but you are being rude to him. Do you know who he is?” Sasha asked angrily.

“He is probably an asshole that wants to get into your pants,” I replied with an innocent smile.

“You better watch your mouth, bitch, or I will.”

“You will what punk?” Camilla's voice interrupted him from behind us.

I turned around to see her holding two glasses of wine with a very angry expression.

“She was the one that was being rude to me,” he explained with a frightened expression.

I can't believe I fell in love with such a punk in my last life. Well, in my defense, he was more mature than he is now.

“Didn't I just warn you to stay away from her?” Cam asked Sasha, who was looking scared and hiding behind the frightened Bryan.

I couldn't hold back my laughter when I saw them like this, and Cam also joined me.

“I just wanted to tell you that Bryan is my fiance, and as my sister, I wanted to introduce you to him, but you just have to be rude and laugh at us like we are some clowns. Is that fair?” Sasha said it with tears running down her cheeks, and her voice was a little loud.

Her mother came running over when she heard her daughter crying. She hugged her and glared at me.

“I know that you just came from the countryside today, but do you have to be so uncultured?” My stepmother asked with a loud voice while glaring at me.

I finally figured out what their plan was all along; they just wanted to announce to everyone that I was a country bumpkin who had no manners and didn't know how to behave.

“Your daughter is clearly the one who is uncultured." Cam replied to her with an irritated tone.

“You better watch your tone, young lady; didn't your parents teach you to respect your elders?” My stepmother yelled at her loudly.

“Mom!” Sasha called her mom to stop her from yelling at Camila, but she seemed to not understand and continued glaring at her.

“Don't dare mention my parents again from that filthy mouth of yours,” Cam said angrily.

Sasha pulled her mother and whispered something in her ears, and the shocked look on her face indicated that she now knows who Camilla is.

“Miss Marchetti, I don't know what this girl has told you about us, but you can't believe her; she lies a lot,” she said to Cam while glaring at me.

What a bitch! She is trying to shift blame on me, and we have already been surrounded by so many guests. Most of them were already giving me judgmental looks while whispering among themselves.

“What is happening here?” A beautiful woman asked as she walked over with a frown.

“I am very sorry, Mrs. Giovanni; she just came from the countryside and doesn't know how to behave yet,” my stepmother said while pointing at me.

The woman turned to me, and she immediately had a very shocked expression on her face. She walked to where I was standing and placed her hand on my face, tears streaming down her face.

“You have grown so much; your mom will be so proud. How is your grandpa, and how have you been?” She asked me, but I just stared at her in confusion.

“I was your mom's best friend. I wanted to adopt you when she died, but your grandpa took you with him,” she said while still holding my face in her hand.

“My grandpa passed away three days ago,” I said while trying to control my emotions.

“Oh dear, you have been through so much,” she said while sobbing loudly.

A man walked over and held her shoulders to comfort her while staring at me with a slight smile.

I was starting to feel uncomfortable with the sudden turn of events. I looked at Cam for help, but I saw my father walking over from the side.

“Mr. and Mrs. Giovanni, I was waiting for the right time before introducing her to you. This is Amira, Mason's fiancee,” my father said with a slight smile.

Was it really necessary for him to announce that I am Mason's fiancee?

“Your wife and daughter clearly do not like her, so why don't we just adopt her? She will have a better life here,” Mrs. Giovanni said with a serious expression.

“She has been away from me for so long, and now that we have finally reunited, I can't give her away again,” my father said with a serious tone.

“Did I just hear that she is my fiancee?” A young boy of about nineteen years old walked over with a slightly displeased expression.

“Behave yourself, Mason." Mr. Giovanni immediately reprimanded him before he could say anything else.

“I don't care what you have to say, because I do not acknowledge her as my fiancee and never will,” he said with a sneer before walking away again.

I just smiled, as I never wished to be his fiancee anyway, so he can fuck the hell off.

“Don't mind his attitude dear, I will have a good talk with him,” his mom said to me with a comforting smile.

"Everyone, please, let's continue the party,” Mr. Giovanni said to the guests who were still gathered around us. They slowly dispersed, and I immediately sat down on my seat. Cam handed me my drink, and I took a sip.

“How did you know that I like apple juice?” I asked her with a smile.

My father and the Giovanni couple went to a corner to discuss while my stepmother and Sasha sat at their table quietly.

Some guests kept glancing in their direction and whispering to each other. They wanted attention, and now they have it.

“There is going to be a good show later, so cheer up,” Cam suddenly said to me.

I looked at her, and she had an excited expression on her face, which piqued my curiosity.

“What show?” I asked with a low voice.

”Remember the Talkoa family, they are the ones over there,” she said while pointing at an old couple.

“This is going to be really interesting. I think I will need more apple juice,” I said with a smile.

I got up to get more juice. On getting to where the waiters were standing, I took another glass of apple juice and was about to head back to my seat when someone tapped my shoulder from behind. I turned around to see Mr. Marchetti with a slight smirk on his face.

“Hello again, Mr. Marchetti,” I said with a polite smile.

“Drop the formalities and call me Leonardo,” he said with a serious tone.

“If you say so, Leo,” I said with a smile.

“How are your injuries? I don't think it is advisable for you to be moving around,” I said while observing the way he moved.

He was walking quite fine, and no one would be able to tell that he was shot earlier.

“I am not allowed to feel pain in my line of business, showing weakness is telling others to harm you more. Once they see another injured person, they join forces to take him out, which means more territory for them to occupy, but in my case, this entire city,” he briefly explained, and I must admit that I felt sorry for him.

“Why don't you go back early then?” I asked with a concerned tone.

“Are you worried about me?” He asked with a slight grin.

“Who is worried about you? Please excuse me; I have to go back to my seat,” I said before quickly hurrying away.

It was when I walked away from him that I saw how the other guests were looking at me.

“Your face is all red, are you that in love with my brother?” Cam teased me as soon as I sat down.

“Who is in love with him? Oh, please don't make me throw up,” I said while giving her a playful glare.

She put her hands up in surrender, and we both laughed. I was about to ask her about Seb when the wailing voice of a woman suddenly came from behind us.

“My son, my son,” the woman kept crying and repeating the same words over and over again.

That was when I realized that she was the wife of the head of the Talkoa family, which Cam had shown me earlier.

Her husband rushed over and asked her what happened, but she just kept crying. The man brought out his phone and made a call. A few minutes later, he hung up and turned in the direction where Leo was sitting with a ferocious expression.

“I will kill you!” The man yelled at Leo with his voice filled with rage.He rushed towards him and pointed a gun at his head.
