CHAPTER 2

It was on Wednesday evening when classes were over and the teachers had gone home, Susan was busy doing nothing with her phone, and all she thought about was Harrison. She decided to ask Makena for his phone number so maybe she would start communicating with him to feel at ease. On spelling out her intentions, Makena was very much against the idea telling her that even though she likes him, it would not be good if she began hitting on him as early as now. The other reason is her brother hates women who take the first initiative in confronting a man on love issues, so because she liked Susan, she did not want her brother to hate her for that reason, she refused to give her the contact information, with the way she was behaving recently, maybe she would call him immediately she got his number. Makena promised her that they would be going to visit her family again during the weekend.

Susan was happy to hear that, at the same time, she was worried since she could not guess what his reaction would be at her sight, but then she did not mind, she had missed him so much and she believed that all she needed to see was just his face and that would be enough for the time being. It's so ironic that in the past guys used to come after her but she refused them all and now it was her turn to love someone who she was not sure would love her back, but she had to give it a trial for her newfound feelings. She wished time would fry to the weekend so that she would see the man who had stolen her heart without any effort.

The weekend came by fast and Susan was beyond excited, you would think it was someone going to see her family after being separated for years. She dressed up neatly, and she was extra careful about her appearance this time around, she wanted to look good, maybe her good looks would attract him, so she did her best. Makena who got ready in about thirty minutes was urging her to be fast, she was spending too much time dressing up yet she was not going out on a date. Makena, who was already plainly dressed, was busy complaining about the time when she saw a very stunning image across the mirror, eyes and mouth wide in shock at the beauty she was seeing. She was naturally beautiful but with the touch of some make-up she looked more amazing, she was really surprised. She was sure her brother would not let go of such a beauty, that was if he was ready for another relationship after the last one failed to work out.

Makena complimented her looks and Susan smiled brightly, she knew she looked beautiful, they picked up their bags and decided to leave. When they got home as usual Makena's little sister opened the door for them. It was she and her mother who was at home, She told them that Harrison had gone out with his friends and their father was still at work, Susan got bored at that moment but she smiled almost immediately to cover her disappointment. They went in and had some drinks and fruits while chatting, it was almost dark when Harrison came back.

When he got in he realized that her sister was back and there was the girl she came with the other weekend, he said hello, and when he looked at where Susan was seated, his movements were stilled, he had seen something extraordinary, none of her past girlfriends looked as elegant as the woman seated in front of him at this moment. He almost lost himself in her beauty but quickly composed himself as if nothing had happened, this small action did not escape Makena's eyes who knew her brother too well, she was right, he would like her beautiful friend.

Dinner was served after a short while and everybody was busy eating except Harrison, he was seriously staring at Susan as if examining her on something, even though Susan threw occasional glances his way, his own was too much. Makena who was watching all of this got the attention of her brother and winked at her brother smacking. He realized she had been watching him and retracted his gaze. When he could no longer concentrate on his meal, he excused himself and left for his room.

He must admit that her sister's friend was very beautiful. She managed to steal his attention even though he had promised himself to avoid getting close to her. He went to the washroom, freshened up, and got ready to sleep, after getting ready he went to bed but before long, there came a phone call, it was a video call from his best friend, Martin, he was not around when they went out earlier with his other friends since he was on shift. Martin was a doctor too and they shared a lot as friends. He picked up the call after the third ring, Martin was always in a jovial mood while Harrison played the ever-serious one, they don't even understand how they got to become friends.

Martin said hello while smiling as usual and Susan answered in his usual tone, although he was used to his attitude, looking at his face, he realized something was off about his friend. He asked what the problem was and since he knew he had been seen through, Harrison decided to tell his friend what was eating him up. The moment he said he had met a beautiful woman, Martin burst out laughing, Harrison let him laugh since he was not close to him, because if he was he would have hit him hard on his head. After his laughter died Martin asked if Harrison was serious. The reason he had laughed that hard was because it was not even two months since his friend was telling him that he is not going to fall in love again and that he was going to avoid women like the plague, but here he was now saying he met a woman

To Martin, Harrison meeting a woman meant that he liked her. Harrison was mad at himself for even looking her way, if only he did not, he would not be fascinated by her beauty but then it was too late, he could not blame anyone for that. Martin realized that Harrison was serious so he stopped joking and asked him about the girl, Harrison told him the little information he knew about her, and to his surprise, he did not even know her name, since he did not bother to inquire even during the introduction on her first visit since he was not interested in women as he had put it. Now that he knew that he needed to know more about her, he wished his friend a good night and texted Makena, asking for her friend's information, Makena replied with a smiley face emoji telling him ''I knew you would come along''. She told him what she knew about Susan and also told him that she was a good girl. From there she knew something juicy was cooking up. After some time it was time to go to bed and everyone dispersed to their rooms to catch some sleep.

Harrison found it hard to sleep that night, he managed to catch some sleep in the wee hours of the morning. He has been thinking hard. Harrison believes that there is nothing wrong with him, he has been in several relationships which did not end well, he is human and to be honest, he's hurt every time a woman leaves him since it involves his feelings, every time he argues with his girlfriend, he usually shouts at her and when the lady talks back at him, he would hit her and that was how their problems began. Some ladies tried to take it and stick around but the situation would only develop worse and that's how they would leave. He would be left feeling bad, but he did not know how to help himself.

This is the reason he had decided and told his friends that he wanted to avoid women since their departure always left him after the emotional attachment, he was tired of being heartbroken yet he knew he was the problem but he did not know how to help himself, that was how pained he was though he would not show it to others. His friend Martin had advised him to go for counseling but being a doctor he could not figure that out, he thought it was not wise and then he would not feel comfortable thus he abandoned the idea. He decided to give himself some time to heal himself and try to see how he can change himself before getting into another relationship that would break him. He was getting frustrated with himself but then he did not wish to spend the rest of his life in loneliness so he had to change for the better.

All these plans were before he met Susan and now he thinks he is already in love with her though he has not known her enough. He tried to try assuming his emotions till he had a way of dealing with his attitude and bad habits though he did not know how, with Susan in the picture, Harrison would soon find a way out of his predicament. He planned to avoid seeing her around and at that moment he remembered that he had only one weekend remaining before his leave was over, therefore he thought of going to his friend's house the coming weekend, that was if Susan would be coming over with Makena. With that settled he went ahead to sleep.

The reason he would be doing these was for the good of both of them since he liked her very much and did not want to lose yet another relationship, thus he did not want her to experience that side of him and that is why he decided to stay away from her for some time until he settled himself though he knew it was going to be hard for him. He had realized that Susan seemed to like him which he thought was not a good idea but since he also liked her back, he thought it would not be hard for them to get along. He promised himself to settle down with her if everything works out well on his side. Some people say that they know their soulmate the moment they meet them and at the moment, Harrison thought he had met his.

When morning came, everyone was present at the dining table and ready to have their breakfast. It was served and everyone began digging into their plates, after some time, some were done and would leave the table when done eating. This was it, within a short while, the table had just Susan, Harrison, and his little sister. The little girl was very cheeky, always making jokes and everyone would laugh out loud. She seriously looked at Alicia and called out on her, she called her pretty big sis, and Susan chuckled at that, she said that she likes how beautiful she looks and went ahead to say that she would love it if she was her sister -in -law but then made a sad face. Susan asked her what was wrong and she told her that it would not be possible since her brother was a bad boy who did not keep a girlfriend for long, so that met that he can't possibly marry her and even started sobbing, Antony choked on his food and quickly took a glass of water when he heard what the little brat said about him, she thought he liked playing around with girls, it was better that way than to know he was always heartbroken.

He glared at her and she hid her head under the table. Susan told her not to say bad things about her elder brother and that was it, she started showering him with praises, how handsome he looked, how many girls were over him, how he treated her nicely and always brings her gifts whenever he comes home, and how he has a group of other handsome men as his friends, Harrison who was mad at her a moment ago could not help smiling. and when she saw that he was no longer angry at her, she became serious again and began talking like an adult she was not, she complemented her brother's looks and Susan's beauty as well, you would laugh hard at the current expression on her face, she told her brother to stop joking around with girls and love one woman so that he could settle down and that woman she suggested was Susan.

Susan was taken by surprise since she did not expect much from the little girl's mouth, she was lost for words, not only her, Harrison too, they both stared at her for a while and then shifted their gazes from her, they then stared at each other without blinking and without saying a word, that was it, they held their gazes for some time until the little girl realized the situation had become somehow awkward that she coughed lightly to get their attention. when she was sure she had it, she told them that she did not ask them to start admiring each other in her presence, instead if they like each other they should make haste and settle so that she would be seeing the pretty big sis around more often and with that she left the room smiling like a silly person, Makena who was watching this from the front door laughed out lightly not to catch their attention and left also, Susan got up immediately and went to her room, sweating leaving only Harrison in the dining room holding his head with both his hands.

He went back to his room, got ready, and left the house with no plans of coming back early in the evening to avoid Susan and her temptations, he knew and agreed that he has been a playboy for as long as he can remember but most of the time it wasn't his fault. He felt a strong attraction towards her but he wasn't ready for another relationship yet. Who knows whether she will not break his heart too.

Harrison chose to play low even though he was hurting, he knew she was hurting too but he had no choice but to ignore ever
