Deaf and Hospitalized

Atto’s POV

She had been gone all day, nothing was done. Not the chores, not lunch, and not even dinner. I growled between my teeth. “Add!” I bellowed. He came running down through the door, almost slamming his head against the frame. “Go find your sister. Now!” he got up and ran down the stairs to the basement.

“Niha you little wretch you’re gonna get-” he was cut short by the silence and stillness of the basement. Add turned on his heels and hightailed it out of the basement and back into the kitchen. As he broke the corner, he yelled, “She’s not there.”

I roared. “Find her! Find her!”. Deep down I began to panic, a sense of dread washing over me like the sea of sand. We ran the length of the forest and river banks, I was growing desperate when Phoenix, her brother, yell out to me.

“I’ve found her!” I run to him, running over pack members and past Zaria. When my eyes fell on her, I felt my entire world come crashing down. She was cold, blue-skinned, burnt, and just barely alive. I bring her chest to my ear and there was barely a pulse.

“What happened to her?” I growled.

“We just beat her up a bit for being rude and hitting Zaria.” Zachary said.

“Yeah then we threw her in here.” said Ares, “she’s usually a good swimmer.” I looked at him as he spoke ever so nonchalantly as his sister lay in my arms barely clinging to life.

“Good riddance, now you can finally fully mark and mate me.” said Zaria rubbing her pussy on my back. I roared and pushed her off.

“‘She’s usually a good swimmer’!” I bellowed looking Ares in his eyes, “Are you fucking kidding me, her arms are burnt you dipshit!” They all looked at me baffled by my outburst. I collected her in my arms and ran the five and a half miles to the pack hospital. As I burst through the door, the head nurse takes one look at her and ushers me to a room and bed.

For the next six months that passed, I slowly lost my sanity. I stayed by her bedside, praying she opened her beautiful brown eyes, I punished myself, not eating or sleeping within that time. Going into the seventh month, Ash stopped speaking to me. It’s the eighth month and I am sitting at her bedside when I see a twitch of her finger.

Ororo’s POV

It was the worst feeling ever, I was awake, but couldn’t open my eyes. I began crying, and what felt like a few seconds later, I could move my finger, so I did again. Soon enough, my body began to respond and I could open my eyes. So slowly, I did. As I regained my consciousness, the first person I see is Atto, I try to move away but wince in pain as I did. I look down at my hands and notice that they were both covered in bandages. I look up at Atto scrutinizing him, his facial expression seemed pained. I soon took notice of the tall dark-skinned lady standing at the foot of my bed. She smiled at me and asked Atto to leave as she needed to run some tests and make sure that I was okay.

He gave resistance at first but after seeing how scared and hurt I was, he obliged. She began speaking to me, but I wasn’t hearing what she was saying, that was when I realized that I hadn’t heard him argue that he wasn’t going to leave the room. I began to panic when the doctor came, stood next to me on the bed, and placed her hand on my back and her notepad on my lap. I read what it had said, checked off in a box, was ‘DEAF’ I began to cry, she hugged me and consoled me for what seemed like an eternity before moving, gliding across the room and over to a table and back at my side, taking her note pad, she scribbled something onto it. Placing it back on my lap, she took my hands and placed something in them. I read the pad and looked at what laid in the palm of my hands. They were hearing aids. I looked at her, gesturing for her to help me put them on, and she did.

“Hello Niha.” she said “My name is Tonia Hale.” I nodded. She then asked me a series of questions to which I answered.

“Uh...Tonia,” I called to her. She turns to me with raised eyebrows. “Can you tell the alpha that I am mute?” she looks at me with a puzzled expression.

“Why would I do that? I thought he was your mate?” she said, “At least that is what I was told.” I shake my head and proceed to explain everything to her, bursting into tears at some parts, but she remained quiet and listened. When I was finished, we came up with the plan that I would go for an ‘evening jog’ recommended by her and go to her brother’s pack. After making the plan, she gifts me a phone and allows Atto back into the room.

“I apologize Alpha Atto, but your mate is mute and deaf.” Tonia said in a grave voice, “Her vocal cords are broken beyond repair and, well, there is no way we can fix her deafness.” Atto looked at me with saddened eyes as Tonia leaves the room to bring me some food. Upon her return, she brings a tray of one and a half sandwiches, a pudding cup, a small fruit bowl, and a cup of hot chocolate. After I wait about an hour before I am released from the hospital under the recommendation that I have to go for a jog every evening.
