At the company parking lot, Jason walked towards his car with hurried steps. He didn't want to break down in that place, didn't want Xander to see him on the security cameras.
He opened the car door, got in, sat in the driver's seat, and lowered his head, resting it on the steering wheel. He took a deep breath; he had to hold on, he couldn't break down there, where the man who was part of his past could see him.

Jason was exhausted, physically and mentally. He didn't know what would happen next. He placed his phone on the desk beside his bed. The conversation with Sarah had drained him. He was so tired that he fell asleep shortly after.
He woke up the next morning confused about where he was. Gradually, his mind began to remember the argument via text with his ex-wife. He was forced into marriage by his parents; he never loved Sarah. He loved someone else, specifically a man, Xander—that was his name—a Greek god, in Jason's opinion. His silky, honey-blonde hair, somewhat long, always dressed in the best clothes, always in fashion. He was a preppy guy, born with a silver spoon, but he had been Jason's for a long time, his preppy guy. Jason received 100% of Xander’s attention, and he had never forgotten him.
With eyes glistening with unshed tears, he was pulled from his reverie by insistent knocks on the door, as if the person were dying.
“Where is the bitch who’s with you?” Sarah said as soon as Jason opened the door. She pushed past him, entering the hotel room where he was staying.
Sarah searched every corner of the room, finding nothing to indicate a woman had been there, much to her displeasure. It was much easier for her to believe her beloved husband was cheating on her.
“Where’s the bitch who was here?” she asked angrily, shaking Jason’s right arm.
“I already told you, Sarah, there’s no one here. Get that through your damn head.”
Tears blurred Sarah’s vision. Jason stepped aside, allowing her to leave.
“As you can see, there’s no one here. Now please, go away.” Jason tried to send her away as politely as possible.
Sarah, still standing in the middle of the room, couldn’t believe it. Her life was falling apart, and Jason was calm.
“You never loved me?” she asked, sniffling.
“No, never.”
Jason’s concise reply drove Sarah to despair, prompting her to ask:
“Are you leaving me for someone else?” She asked, tears streaming down her face.
“Yes, I am,” he replied with a passionate glint in his eyes. At that moment, Sarah fully realized that Jason had never been hers, but this other person’s.
“Tell me the name. Just the name of this person,” Sarah asked, practically begging for Jason to say, but he only shook his head negatively.
“I won’t tell you, no matter how much you beg. Just know that I love this person,” Jason said with conviction, his eyes betraying the love he felt for this person.
“Alright, I’ll go. As soon as the paperwork is ready, send it to me, and I’ll sign. I won’t stand in your way, but promise me one thing…” Sarah said, calmer now, trying her best to control her emotions.
“What?” he asked.
“Be happy,” Sarah said, leaving.
Jason hadn’t seen her after that. They signed the divorce papers some time later. It was the only time he saw her again; she was still the same, beautiful and powerful.
