CHAPTER 5

HAPPY READING

Ester closed her eyes, trying to contain her anger, "Oh, Jesus! I hope I can handle working with Mr. Wiga."

"Amen."

Luna took a deep breath for a few seconds, calming her heart. But her heart was still cursing, wanting to scream. She tried to stay as calm as possible; she was being paid a high salary for this position to deal with Mr. Wiga. She had to pay her apartment installments and her expenses. Regardless, she had to endure this position.

"I think I want to go back home, it's unbearable at the office."

"So quick. It's only 2 PM."

"Mr. Wiga has returned. He came to the office just to give me crazy tasks, so I can resign like Risa and his old secretaries!" Luna grumbled.

"It's possible that's his plan to make you unhappy."

"See, that's what I said! That must be his intention," Luna said.

"Just don't give up. You have to be mentally strong, or else you'll be laughed at by Ana."

"That's true!"

"Alright then, I'm going back. Besides, the boss has already returned." "Mr. Wiga told you to leave?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Take care, okay."

Luna turned off her computer; this was the first time she worked as a secretary. Her boss allowed her to go home early, and that was something she had to do. She rarely left the office early like this, but she was sure that after this, she would stay longer than the other employees.

Luna switched off the office lights and grabbed her handbag. She dragged her feet towards the elevator, feeling extremely frustrated because on her first day as a secretary, she was given such complicated tasks. The role of a secretary was draining her energy. She couldn't understand why it had turned out like this. He was the boss, but combining the work of three people into one was completely unreasonable.

"Damn it! The boss is insane!"

"Son of a *****!" she cursed in annoyance.

She pressed the button for the basement floor. It was then that she realized there was someone standing beside her, wearing shiny black shoes. She observed that it seemed to be just the two of them in the elevator. When she raised her face, she froze and was shocked because her curses and expressions of frustration had been heard by the man. She saw him looking at her without a smile.

"How can you work properly? You're complaining before even starting!"

"You should watch your language, because you're my secretary. If you can't handle this job, you can submit your resignation letter to HR."

Luna couldn't utter a word, and honestly, she was still in shock. The elevator door opened, and she watched the man exit the elevator, leaving her behind. She just stood there, lost in thought, gazing at his back as it disappeared behind the lobby doors.

Luna snapped out of it and stepped out of the elevator, following the footsteps of that 'evil' man because her car was parked there too. She had called Manda quite a while ago; why was he only in the elevator now? She thought her boss had already gone home. Was he going up first? Where to? Meeting with his friend? Luna watched her boss get into his BMW parked not far from her. The man entered his expensive car without a smile and then the luxurious vehicle left the tower area.

"Yes, Al," Luna said as she entered her apartment, her phone pressed to her ear.

"Where are you?" Alfred asked.

"I just arrived at my apartment," Luna replied.

"So quick to come home?" Alex asked, glancing at the round clock on his wrist, which showed 2:30 AM. He knew that this was Luna's first day as a secretary. He had actually disagreed with Luna taking the job because many said that being a secretary had a dark side.

However, in his office, there was a woman who served as a pure secretary, a genuine one, without any odd actions there. Because she had been working for 10 years, there was no secretary moonlighting as a mistress. Moreover, if a secretary became a mistress, the quality of her work would become unclear. The job of a secretary was vast, often becoming the target of the boss's anger. Many unclear employees spread gossip about the boss, and they liked the secretary. He knew that the gap existed; a boss's level would definitely play with a woman on the same level as him. He would choose someone like an actress or a fellow business owner. If the secretary had nothing to offer, he would forget about the scandal because it was impossible to happen.

"Mr. Wiga just returned from Singapore, briefly to the office. Do you know what he gave me?" Luna asked.

"What?"

"He gave me additional tasks. I have to handle export licenses and their documents, and I'm also supposed to manage the finances of his new company. His excuse is that the company is small."

"So, are you going to accept it?"

"How can I refuse, Al? You know it's my first day at work. Those tasks are meant for three people, and I'm the one handling them. It's really tough, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it's really tough."

"What are you up to?" Luna asked Alfred, who had been in the early stages of dating her for a few weeks now; he worked as a finance manager at the central bank.

"I'm working, lots of work. Have you bought dinner?"

"Yes, I did. I bought it in the lobby."

"What did you buy?"

"Dimsum and ramen," Luna replied, placing her food and bag on the table.

Luna took off her blazer, leaned back in her chair, and looked out the window. She sat on the couch and grabbed the remote, turning on the TV. She took a deep breath for a few seconds, really wanting to bang her head against the wall. She couldn't believe she had encountered Mr. Wiga in the elevator. The man even told her to resign, and this was her first day on the job!

"Are you okay?" Alfred asked.

"Of course, I'm okay," Luna replied.

"What would you like to have for dinner tonight? I'll buy it for you."

"No, don't buy it. I'm afraid I'll already be full from the dimsum and ramen."

"Okay, if that's the case."

"Stay motivated at work," Luna said, closing her eyes for a few seconds to calm her anxiety.

Luna unwrapped her food while keeping an eye on the TV. She couldn't explain it, but her heart felt increasingly restless. Today seemed to drag on longer than usual, even though the sky was still bright. Luna stared at her food on the table without taking a single bite. She just moved it around with her fork and spoon, all the while picturing Mr. Wiga, which only added to her frustration. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to work with her boss.
