January 2017
In a week my son will celebrate his sixth birthday. How I miss my little bundle of joy! Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I would have liked to see him grow up by my side, but circumstances made it impossible. I had to leave him in the United States with my parents so that I could continue with my law studies in London. Quite a difficult choice believe me. When you're young, you inevitably do stupid things. And the consequences are not always pleasant.
Unlike other days, I woke up very early this morning. The first rays of sunshine were streaming through my window. I had my breakfast, booked my ticket online. Then I tidied up the few accessories that I still have at home. After I finished, I took my shower. I settled on the old sofa in the small space that serves as my living room. Ready for a TV series session. As my friend Lexa Tatiana SILVER would say: "serie time". About that, I have to call him. She must know that I advanced my return to the USA by a week. She will kill me. I'm totally sure.
Lexa is... How do I explain my relationship with this crazy little girl? Normally, we're supposed to share this dorm room. But as Madame spends most of her time, night and day, with her boyfriend. It's as if I lived alone. I can go weeks without seeing her at home. The proof, it is not even there at the moment.
Sitting in front of the television, I was watching Love Forbidden, a novelas series that I love very much. I've watched it more than once. But I start again each time as if it were the first time.
Suddenly, I hear the sound of my phone (Helium from Sia) signaling an incoming call. I quickly looked who it was. Seeing that it was mom on the phone, I picked up quickly. This woman can't stand being made to hang around on the phone. Oh no! Unless you don't need your ears anymore. She can spend hours scolding you properly for this act which she considers to be a lack of importance.
Me (lowering the TV volume): Hello!
Mum: How are you sweetie?
Me: yes mum. And you?
Mom: it's okay sweetie. When are you coming back to LA?
Me: next Monday, Tuesday at the latest. I've already packed my bags. And dad?
Mum: That's fine, baby. Your dad isn't here, but he's fine. In fact, have you ever thought about what we could do for Xander's birthday?
Me (yawning): I don't really know mom. I don't want to see many people for my return. We can have a little family party. We'll invite some of Jamie's friends on occasion. I think that should do the trick.
Mom: hmmm okay. Have you heard from your brothers?
Me: yesterday I spoke with Jamel. Good for Jamal I don't know much mom. Good... Finally, as usual, what. You already know how your son is.
Mom (overwhelmed): Will one of you one day be able to tell me what happened to you both?
Me: Jamal is a jerk and... I had a son. Nothing more mom. It's as if having a child at a young age was a crime.
Mom: if you say so. You will give me the time of your flight so that we can pick you up at the airport... You know my darling, your brother loves you, he just doesn't know how to show it to you. Besides, nobody tells you it's a crime to have Xander so early. But still...
Me: hmmm! Alright mom. Let's leave it like that.
Mum (giving me a kiss): Have a nice day my darling! I like you. Take good care of yourself.
Me (giving him a kiss in my turn): Thank you mum. You too. I like you. Ciao!
2 days later at Los Angeles International Airport
It was eleven o'clock in the morning, my plane had just landed, I passed the usual control, then I came out dragging my luggage behind me. Smiles on my lips, I look for my brother Jamel with my eyes but I don't notice him right away. Yet Mom had told me that he would be waiting for me in senior year.
In the distance I see a silhouette which at first sight seems familiar to me. I approached to make sure. I was quickly disillusioned when I was able to see who was the person at the other end of the street "James DUBOIS". My heart jumped in my chest. But what the hell is he doing here? Why does all this have to happen to me on the first day of my return to Los Angeles? I walk forward pretending I haven't seen it. Luckily for me my brother had just arrived at that time. I quickly rushed into his car, heading home. Well it's with the parents, but it's just like.
My name is Keysha Lucia BROWN I am 24 years old, single with one child. In a few months I will celebrate my 25th birthday. I have a master's degree in business law. I have two brothers Jamal Bradley and Jamel Bradley. Twins. My mother Hailey is a cardiothoracic surgeon and my father John Bradley an electromechanical engineer. In fact all the men in this family are engineers. My two brothers are electromechanical engineers, as is Dad for Jamel, and electrical engineers for Jamal, who wanted to stand out a little bit. You would have probably noticed that. It works much better between me and Jamel.
As I said earlier, I have a son who will soon be 6 years old. His name is James Alexander BROWN. His father? Long story. He was recognized by preference by my father. That's all the story I can tell for now.
I arrive home around noon, everyone is seated in the living room. To believe that there will be a family reunion. Okay, everyone except dad. The good gentleman is conspicuous by his absence.
Me (almost jumping with joy): Good evening everyone!
Mom: good evening princess!
Jamal (without looking at me): Good evening!
Jamel (leaving my luggage): Hi princess!
Ah my brother, the comic. We go home together but he still responds to my good evening. Even though I sense he's trying to annoy Jamal. Ah! Those two there. The beautiful story.
My son (coming to give me a hug): good evening mom! I missed you.
Me (lifting him up): I missed you too. How are you champ?
My son: yes mom.
Me (looking around): where is daddy?
Mom: He had some business to take care of. A contract with an electronics company I believe. It shouldn't take long. Well I think. Did you cut your hair?
Me: hmmm hmmm! You saw? I'm pretty, right?
Mom: you are wonderful my little one.
Me (pursing my lips): hmmm, thank you. I'm going upstairs to rest a bit while I wait.
Mum: Okay sweetie. Then you come down to have dinner with us, okay?
Me (giving him a hug): Of course my little mama. I look forward.
I take my things up to my room, helped by my brother of course. But hey, he's the one who did most of the work, I must say. Jamal just watched us from afar. But hey, that's his problem. It looks at him. As for me, I think I really need my post-trip sleep minutes.
