My mate

Wait. What in the world is going on. My body was frozen after hearing those words come out of her daring lips. I had no idea on how I should respond. It's not like this was something I ever thought could be possible. It was drilled into my head for years that It couldn't and never would happen. Yet, here we are. Breaking rules that were never meant to be broken.

"Your Mate?" I asked dumbfounded.

My eyes were stuck to hers as I spoke. I couldn't process anything fast enough for me to get the upper hand on the situation. This woman is actually claiming me to be her mate just moments after meeting me. How could she not see the danger in this situation. She's the leader of one of the strongest packs in the United States. And guess what. I'm the Hybrid in charge of giving her and her pack protection from now on. How does she expect me to do that if she thinks I'm her mate.

I don't know if I was talking out loud or if her intuition was that good for her to tell what I was thinking. But either way she knew. I could tell from the smile she gave me when I came back to reality.

"You can't hide what your thinking from me. You'll find out really quickly that the Council doesn't control everything we do around here. And the "Rules" you think I'm breaking by claiming you to be my mate doesn't apply if its true. Now close that mouth of yours its hanging open a bit. Wouldn't want anything to go in, now would we. Not yet at least." She chuckled ever so smoothly, shooting a wink my way. With that daring look never leaving her face.

I quickly shut my mouth that was apparently open and getting ready for a quick lesson on relearning my manners. Don't really know if I liked what just happened or if it appalled me. I really was trying my best to not roll my eyes as I stood myself back up shaking off the feelings that were taking away my attention.

Deep down in my heart I knew I felt something there almost as if she was really telling the truth. She had no reason to lie.  Yet, my mind and logic were trying so hard to deny it and lock it away before It made my better judgement disappear. Me, of all people should know that I'm not allowed to have relations with anyone. The Council burned it into my mind for years. You can't have a mate Alvira. You're not a Werewolf, but a Hybrid and a means of disposal for keeping those above you safe. Blah, Blah, Blah. So you can understand why I shoving her claims down the drain.

I scoffed. Hearing myself repeat their words made me sick to my stomach. They did a number on me with the whole brainwashing and obedience. Figures. I cleared my throat as I attempted on trying my best to tell her why this is such a bad idea in the first place.

"I have to make this very clear to you Alpha, I can have no relations with anyone.  The Council makes it clear that I'm to remain disposable. I protect a pack, die, and then be replaced. That's it."

I barely finished speaking and I knew right then that I had fucked up. Big time. Her facial expression turned dark and defensive. Almost like I just challenged my own Alpha to a match of whos right. She didn't take it well. I knew that as soon as a growl echoed through my ears and across the field around us. It was such a deep and silky growl that had enough fierceness to make me wish I shut my mouth sooner.

That's when she did it. I saw her look me up and down once before bolting towards me like I was a deer in the headlights waiting to be smashed by her cars innocent bumper. In seconds I was on the ground. She had tackled me, pinning me down with her warm hands that held quiet a death grip on me. While keeping her body weight on my hips, giving her all the control she needed. And apparently wanted. Trust me, I didn't want to wiggle out of this even if I could. Something about the way she took control of the situation made me want to let her.

Her beautiful dark brown eyes hovered over my own. Turning a deep rose red, almost like a blood maroon as she stared into my soul searching for something in me. They weren't like the orange ones that glowed before when she first met me. This change was different. Challenging and defensive just like her actions.

Minutes seemed to pass by. She still stayed on top of me. Holding me down with enough force to keep me there, but not too much to hurt me. I waited under her helplessly not wanting to push anything to go further.

Then she finally broke the silence.

"Careful choosing your words next time. What you said seemed to anger the wolf inside of me. I told you once and I don't care how many more times I have to put it into your head. You're my mate. Accept it now or later, I don't care. Just know you will. You're mine and so are the dangers that come with it so be it."

I sighed in defeat. So be it.

"And if you even think about disobeying me. Just remember I'm your Alpha now. There's no getting out of this one." She said leaning down to whisper it into my ear.

I felt a shiver rise through me like a chill does when its cold out. I couldn't deny that feeling. It was becoming hard to really deny anything. I mean I just got here. I never expected this to happen. She didn't want me to fight this whole mate thing, but maybe she would let me if she understood what I was made to do. What I'm capable of.

"You know I'm a Hybrid right? We don't feel mate bonds. Ask the Council yourself." I spoke out bluntly.

I watched as she raised her eyebrow in a challenging manner. Questioning me if I even knew what I was talking about.

" Are you sure about that?" She said smirking.

" I am sure." I shot back.

"Well then, let's wait and find out shall we?"

I laughed at the way she handled my words. She really is a tough one. Next thing I knew she had a death grip on my wrist. Quickly lifting me up onto my feet, before pulling me in the direction of the mansion's front doors. She wasted no time in guiding me up the rows of front steps leading me to the entrance. I watched as her hand grabbed the handle leaning in to twist it.
