Human Globe

"Where is the Packhouse?" Ashina asked, her tone dead serious. Inspector Farcas struggled to maintain a straight face, barely suppressing a chuckle. "Luna, there's no Packhouse here. We live in apartments, work, and earn a living. That's why I advised you to pretend amnesia. You'll be placed in a foster home or government hostel until you regain your memory or find a place to stay." Ashina nodded, understanding the necessity of blending in.

However, her maternal instincts took over, and she urgently asked Farcas to take her to her baby. He promptly called for a nurse, but just then, Sir Ralph and Boris entered the room. Ashina's eyes locked onto Boris, and she sensed his werewolf presence, but Sir Ralph, with his warm smile and concerned gaze, was a mystery to her. She attempted to mind-link with Farcas, and to her surprise, it worked. She queried why she couldn't sense Sir Ralph, and Farcas replied,

"He is human, Ashina. He helped bring you to the hospital."

Ashina's eyes widened in astonishment, her mind racing with the revelation. Human? She stared at Sir Ralph, her thoughts whirling with questions. How could a human have helped her? What did this mean for her and her baby's safety? The room seemed to spin as she struggled to comprehend this strange new world.

As the nurse arrived to escort her to the nursery, Ashina swiftly stood up, removing the cannula from her hand. The nurse and Sir Ralph were taken aback, trying to intervene, but she was determined. She wanted to walk unaided, hiding any sign of pain. However, Farcas quickly mind-linked her, cautioning her to avoid drawing attention and advising her to follow the nurse's instructions. Ashina hesitated, noticing Sir Ralph's concerned expression and his attempt to support her. She relented and settled in the wheelchair provided.

As the nurse pushed the wheelchair toward the nursery, Farcas and Sir Ralph followed closely behind. Along the way, Boris mind-linked Farcas, inquiring if he had explained the situation to Ashina. Farcas confirmed he had, and Boris asked about her reason for entering the human world. Farcas explained the war and her desperate attempt to save her pups, resulting in the loss of one. Boris sympathized with her loss but was relieved to know she had one surviving pup.

The instant the wheelchair entered the door of the nursery, she stood up and started walking about to everyone's surprise. Farcas tried stopping her but she refused to listen. Then she paused and exclaimed,

“Oh my moon goddess, there are so many of them. They are so adorable, but where is my sweetness? "

All around were staring at her like an alien in amazement wondering where she sprung out from. The nurse and Ralph were worried that she might collapse but far from it. All of a sudden, she paused, inhaled, and smiled. Then moved straight to where her baby was and touched the incubator encompassing her.

“Oh mine sweetness, I have found you. Oh you are so cute”. She put her hand on the incubator with a smile caressing it.

People around including Ralph and the nurse were amazed concerning how she located her baby. That instant the doctor monitoring the baby came around as well.

“Mam sit down please, you are not strong yet” advised the doctor

“This is amazing, how do you know that she is your baby?” asked Ralph

“Oh dear, you should know that a mother knows her own”. She responded with a smile.

“May I hold her please” Ashina requested.

“You can't do that yet, your baby is a bit weak”. The nurse replied but the doctor said otherwise.

“No nurse, she can hold her, to my surprise, the baby is as strong as a horse”

The doctor said as he opened the incubator, picked up the baby, and gave her to her mother to hold, removing the remaining tubes connected to her. Ashina held her baby and smiled.

“Doctor, she is not as strong as a horse but as strong as a werewolf. Isn't she adorable, hmm”. She kept admiring her baby.

The people exchanged glances wondering if she was okay. Carried away with joy, she kissed her baby and lifted her above her head level.

“Oh dear Moon goddess, thank you for this beautiful gift. I call her Tala! So from today, my sweetness, your name is Tala because you are special. You are chosen by the Moon goddess to live. Your presence fills me with joy”. She brought her down and kissed her forehead happily.

“Okay mam, you can put her back now,” The doctor said.

“No, I want to go to the room with her. I want my baby with me” Ashina said as she held the baby to her bosom.

“Mam, we still need to observe the baby to be sure that she is very okay. It's better if she remains in the nursery for the meantime, okay”

The doctor persuaded Ashina but she refused to yield. She kept insisting on going back to her room with the baby.

Meanwhile, Conri had been going from one section to the other for tests and X-rays. He was being taken to another place when they came by the nursery. They had almost passed by when he got a glimpse of a familiar face. Inspector Farcas. He perceived him to be a wolf and he needed to talk to him. As he paused, staring at him, he noticed another familiar face.

“Oh my moon goddess, that is Luna Ashina and she has already given birth. I was worried about her and the pups. Thank you, moon goddess, they are alive and well. Oh moon goddess, I want to take a peek at my pups”.

Instantly he turned and started heading towards the door. The nurse with him realized that the person with her wasn't with her anymore. So she turned and saw him walking away. She called him back.

“Hey Mr., you are going the wrong way. Come on the lab is this way”.

Conri paused, a bit confused about what to do. He so much desire to behold the newborn but yet a bit nervous as he remembered that his father wanted Luna and the pups dead. Within himself, he knew he would never be able to kill his pups.

As the nurse started walking towards him, he turned and stared at them again. That minute, Farcas turned and their eyes met. He mindlinked him.

“Guy, I need to have a chat with you, are you through with your tests?”

Conri was surprised as he stared hard at him. Even his wolf asked him if the stranger just connected to them. He replied to him that he would find out but before he would react, Farcas mind-linked him again.

“I guess you are surprised that I could connect to you, well, don't be. All wolves in Sunset City can connect with themselves. Once you set foot in this city irrespective of which Pack you originated from in Wolf Globe, we become one like a pack” Farcas explained.

“Oh my sweet goddess, thank you. I am Conri and I need to talk to you. I am tired of their tests. Please help me out of here” Conri pleaded.

“Finish up with your tests first”.

Farcas advised him but he opened up to him straight telling him that he was okay and did not have any memory loss. He explained that he had to pretend because he didn't know anyone to talk to.

“Wow, brilliant actor Conri. You even got me to believe that you lost your memory. Now you have to tell them that you remembered who you are”.

Farcas was glad that he pretended to have a memory loss but then he realized that he was focused on Ashina. That instant he became suspicious of him.

“Why do you keep staring at the lady with the baby, do you know her?”.

At first, he wanted to say yes but changed his mind instantly.

“No, it's just that I admired the way she was expressing her joy with her pup. Did she give birth to only a pup?”

“Ya, and they call them babies here in Sunset City. It would have been two but the male baby died. The one she is holding is the female child. She named her Tala”.

“Tala is a beautiful name. I need a place to stay. Where is the pack house located”.

“There are no pack houses here but I could suggest a place for you. A friend of mine who runs a diner needs a helper in his diner”. Farcas suggested.

“Diner? No, I am a doctor”.
