Chapter 13 Negotiating on the Wedding

"Mom, don’t blindly devote ourselves to Grandma, and there's no need to accommodate Uncle Roger's family either." Hannah spoke up.

"Your dad is also trying to avoid family conflicts. In theory, the inheritance rights of the Cooper family should belong to the eldest son. It's understandable that Uncle Roger's family is unhappy." Michelle smiled and said.

"But that's not an excuse for Uncle Roger's family to bully us like this. Mom, we used to have a flawed logic, assuming that the family business should always go to the eldest son. "Alright. Compromising and appeasing them indeed won't solve anything. It will only encourage them to push further." Michelle replied.

But it wasn't solely to set an example for her mom. Hannah also meant to provoke Jane. More precisely, she was provoking Mary. Hannah was basking in her current glory, and Jane must be jealous. After all, Jane always believed that she was the true heir of the Cooper family. She constantly compared herself to Hannah and couldn't tolerate the fact that Hannah had more and lived a better life than her. Once Jane became envious, she would do something irrational. Hannah smirked coldly.

"Where did you go so early?" asked Miguel.

"To Grandma's house." Hannah replied.

"Why didn't you tell me when you went there? I should have accompanied you." Said Miguel, surprised.

It was lunchtime, and everyone sat around a large round table, facing exquisite dishes that looked sincere.

"We originally wanted to schedule it for the weekend, considering Miguel's work and Charles' work. But we felt time was running out and had to admit that we couldn't wait. So, we chose today. I hope it didn’t bother you, Miguel." Lee Sawyer spoke up, appearing as a kind-hearted person.

Hannah sneered.

It was probably because the Sawyer Group's stock market had plummeted yesterday that they were in such a hurry. There must be another purpose behind this.

"We're all family, don’t worry." Miguel, who had been in the business for decades, knew his way around socializing. "At this age, I delegate the work to people below me. I don't need to manage so much."

"I will also help you with some of the responsibilities in the future, Uncle Miguel." Charles chimed in.

"I’m counting on you to say that. Once you and Hannah get married, you'll have to take care of the Cooper Group." Said Miguel.

Harrison's lips curled into a slight smile, since she didn't expect her father to be a good actor too.

"Uncle Miguel, don't worry. I will fulfill my duties." Charles said, feeling even happier after hearing Miguel's words.
