Chapter 13 Negotiating on the Wedding

"Mom, don’t blindly devote ourselves to Grandma, and there's no need to accommodate Uncle Roger's family either." Hannah spoke up.

"Your dad is also trying to avoid family conflicts. In theory, the inheritance rights of the Cooper family should belong to the eldest son. It's understandable that Uncle Roger's family is unhappy." Michelle smiled and said.

"But that's not an excuse for Uncle Roger's family to bully us like this. Mom, we used to have a flawed logic, assuming that the family business should always go to the eldest son. And when the second son inherits the family fortune, it's seen as unfair. But if you think about it, why couldn't the eldest son inherit the wealth and it ended up going to the second son?"

Michelle paused, realizing she had never thought about it before.

"That's because the eldest son lacked the ability to bear the burden of the family. That's why Grandpa chose my dad. We shouldn't feel guilty. Instead, we should feel confident and proud that we are the ones who have upheld the family's legacy. The Coopers, including Uncle Roger, should be grateful to our family, instead of mocking or even oppressing us like they are now."

Michelle was convinced by her daughter's words. They had always considered themselves inferior, just to avoid internal conflicts. But now she realized that inheriting the family fortune was about ability, so why should they endure such criticism?

Hannah looked at her mom, who seemed to have come to a realization, and said, "So, Mom, in dealing with Uncle Roger, let's show our confidence. Otherwise, they'll really think they're in the right!"

"Alright. Compromising and appeasing them indeed won't solve anything. It will only encourage them to push further." Michelle replied.

"Mom, you catch on quickly!" Hannah praised.

"You made it crystal clear to me today, didn't you?"

Yes.

But it wasn't solely to set an example for her mom. Hannah also meant to provoke Jane. More precisely, she was provoking Mary. Hannah was basking in her current glory, and Jane must be jealous. After all, Jane always believed that she was the true heir of the Cooper family. She constantly compared herself to Hannah and couldn't tolerate the fact that Hannah had more and lived a better life than her. Once Jane became envious, she would do something irrational. However, Jane wasn't clever and didn't possess as many methods as Mary did. To please Jane, Mary would surely come up with plans and strategies. Of course, Mary's secret agenda wasn't for Jane's sake. Everything she did was aimed at eliminating Jane.

Hannah smirked coldly.

Fortunately, now that she was back to being 22 years old, she knew everyone's true nature. Only then could she use their cunning and deceitful sides to achieve her goals. After all, it wasn't easy to catch Charles with evidence before marrying him. Charles was a cautious person, and he wouldn't dare to do anything reckless before getting married. But if someone took the initiative to make advances, a playboy like him wouldn't refuse.

Hannah was waiting for them to lose control on their own.

When they returned to the house, unexpectedly, Miguel was also back.

"Where did you go so early?" asked Miguel.

"To Grandma's house." Hannah replied.

"Why didn't you tell me when you went there? I should have accompanied you." Said Miguel, surprised.

Indeed, in her past life, Hannah had been frightened by the people at the old Cooper mansion. Now, thinking back, it was unworthy of their family. Hannah and her parents were so submissive, but in return, Roger’s family worked with the Sawyers and put Hannah in a desperate situation.

Michelle smiled and spoke up, "From now on, you can focus on your work, don't worry about family matters, Miguel."

In the past, every time they went to Lorie’s place, Michelle was always nervous, and even after coming back, her mood would be low for several days. However, at this moment, she was in a good mood.

"By the way, why did you suddenly come back? Is there something going on?" Michelle asked.

Miguel had many doubts, but thinking about the matter, he didn't ask further and answered, "Lee said we should have lunch at Sawyer Manor today and discuss Hannah and Charles' wedding next month."

As he spoke, he couldn't help but look at Hannah.

Hannah smiled, calmly saying, "Okay."

"Didn't you plan to call off the wedding?" Miguel couldn't help but ask.

"That's something for later. Now, whatever the Sawyers say, we'll do it and cooperate with them fully."

The more grand the wedding, the bigger the fuss would be, and that way, the Cooper family would have more reason to call off the wedding.

"Okay." Miguel didn't say much. Since he had promised his daughter to let her handle this marriage matter herself, they would naturally follow her arrangements.

So the whole family didn't delay. After changing their clothes, they went straight to Sawyer Manor. At the entrance of the villa, the Sawyers warmly received them. Hannah used to think that it was because the Sawyers valued their family that they would welcome them so warmly. Now she finally knew it was all an act.

As soon as Hannah got out of the car, she noticed paparazzi hiding in the shadows. Unless it was deliberately arranged, how could outsiders come in here?

She remained calm and, just like her parents, accepted their warm hospitality. The group of people entered Sawyer Manor.

It was lunchtime, and everyone sat around a large round table, facing exquisite dishes that looked sincere.

"We originally wanted to schedule it for the weekend, considering Miguel's work and Charles' work. But we felt time was running out and had to admit that we couldn't wait. So, we chose today. I hope it didn’t bother you, Miguel." Lee Sawyer spoke up, appearing as a kind-hearted person.

Hannah sneered.

It was probably because the Sawyer Group's stock market had plummeted yesterday that they were in such a hurry. There must be another purpose behind this.

"We're all family, don’t worry." Miguel, who had been in the business for decades, knew his way around socializing. "At this age, I delegate the work to people below me. I don't need to manage so much."

"I will also help you with some of the responsibilities in the future, Uncle Miguel." Charles chimed in.

"I’m counting on you to say that. Once you and Hannah get married, you'll have to take care of the Cooper Group." Said Miguel.

Harrison's lips curled into a slight smile, since she didn't expect her father to be a good actor too.

"Uncle Miguel, don't worry. I will fulfill my duties." Charles said, feeling even happier after hearing Miguel's words.
