chapter 7

I type all the documents that need to be typed. Need a soft copy. I've broken it down based on the all abouts. I finished 500 papers in five hours. I feel like I'm going to collapse. I'm tired too. I fixed the folder and stood up. I went straight to Boss's Office. When I entered I saw him reading something. Seriously. I don't think he noticed me come in. I went straight to his table and put down the folder.

''This is all the copy of the deeds of the lands, the contract and all Boss'' I told him.

He looked at me tiredly and smiled. I think he is tired.

''Thank you, Thainah'' I smiled.

''Welcome, Boss'' I said.

I turned my back on him and was about to leave but I thought of a good task.

I'll suggest to massage him.

I faced Boss again, he was looking at the papers again.

''Boss—'' I didn't finish what I was going to say because the door opened.

''Hon!'' and it's Ma'am Kaye.

I felt jealousy and bitterness in life again.

I saw Boss look at Kaye, he smiled warmly and it's hurt in my side.

''Hey, Hon'' greeted Boss weakly.

Ma'am Kaye approached Boss and kissed him on the lips. My heart ached with pain even though I had no right, but I really dreamed of being Ma'am Kaye.

Ma'am Kaye looked at me, she smiled at me.

''Hey, Thainah. I'm sorry if I didn't wait for you outside, because I'm excited to take care of my baby'' she giggled.

I looked at Boss who was looking at me but I immediately avoided it, I smiled at Ma'am Kaye.

''You don't need to ask permission when you enter here, Ma'am. Boss and you are fiancé so it's okay, Ma'am'' I said bitterly but I made it normal, it might be obvious that I have feelings for Boss.

''Thank you'' she thanked me and I just bowed.

After I got out, my knee went weak. Even though I know I really have no hope. I just went back to my work. I finished at 8pm. Over time. I looked at Boss's office. He and Ma'am Kaye haven't gone out yet. I sighed. I stood up and arranged my things and bag. I didn't say goodbye to Boss when I left. I left the building and walked to the side of the road.

I'm waiting for a taxi. I was about to pass a taxi that was approaching me but it was immediately blocked by a car that stopped in front of me. I saw Ma'am Kaye and Boss inside.

When will they stop hurting my feelings?

''We'll take you Thainah, it's embarrassing because you're overtime because of your company's problem'' said Ma'am Kaye.

Ma'am Kaye is kind so it's fine with me if she can stay with Boss.

''Don't do it Ma'am, it's my job that's why I did it, Ma'am. I'll just take a taxi'' I told her and showed her that it was okay but Ma'am insisted so I just got in.

The three of us were silent but Ma'am Kaye broke it right away.

''How's your work with my fiancé, Thainah?'' she asked.

I caught a glimpse of Boss with the small front mirror. Our eyes met again so I avoided it again. It's awkward, it's like we're hiding something.

''It's okay, Ma'am. Boss is nice'' yes even though he yelled at me this morning.

Ma'am Kaye pouted, she is beautiful but I am more beautiful.

''Do you have a boyfriend, Thainah?'' She asked suddenly, almost making me cough in shock.

''Hon, that's too private'' said Boss.

''I'm just asking, Thainah is so beautiful that it's impossible that she doesn't have a boyfriend'' Ma'am turned to me.

''Answer me, do you have a boyfriend?'' he asked again.

I was about to answer when my cell phone suddenly rang in my bag, I hurriedly took it out of my bag and answered the call.

"Evander..."

''She has a boyfriend'' Ma'am Kaye said to Boss as if she won the bet.

"Tabia is in the hospital because she had an asthma attack, your dad called me because your cell phone wasn't answering earlier," Evander began.

I was immediately nervous, just now Tabia was attacked again. The last one was when he was 9 years old and he almost died then.

''Where?'' I asked immediately.

''I'll drive you there, your father ordered. Meet me at the hotel lobby. Claxton Hotel, I'll take you there'' he said.

''Alright, I'm on my way there'' I answered quickly.

I'm really worried about my brother, what might happen to him.

''Boss, please drop me off at the Claxton Hotel'' I ordered.

I don't care if I sound rude for ordering him, I heard Ma'am clap her hands.

''You'll make a family huh'' he said, I just smiled at him because I couldn't talk anymore in my nervousness.

''Claxton Hotel, Honey'' Ma'am Kaye ordered Boss.

Boss didn't say a word and just drove me to the Claxton Hotel.

When I got out of the car, I immediately entered the Hotel. I saw Evander and he took me to the Hospital immediately. I haven't even entered the hospital when my cellphone lights up. It's a text from Boss.

[I'll be back there, what floor are you?]

I read his text but I didn't understand, I just ignored it and went straight inside.

I was in the hospital for three days. I was not able to enter the Office for three days because of keeping an eye on Tabia. He hasn't been out yet because his asthma has gotten worse. I know what I did was wrong not knowing Boss but my family needs me more. No one else will watch over Tabia if not me. Because RafRaf is still studying. Then Papa, I don't want to be here all the time because he is old and gets tired easily.

I looked at the door that opened. It's RafRaf. I thought it was Evander. Evander was my guide in watching over Tabia, because he is a doctor here. RafRaf came in and approached me.

''Sister, this is your charger'' he handed me my charger, never mind that I have been lowbat for three days.

I can't even call, I want to use my personal number when calling because Boss might not believe if it's a different number.

''Thank you'' I said and took the charger.

I looked for something to plug in and when I found one, I immediately charged it, left my phone there and went back to sitting next to Tabia.

''Sister, I want to go home'' said Tabia, the other day she insisted on going home.

I fixed her hair.

''We'll go home later'' I told him, his face lit up.

''Really sister?!'' she exclaimed in happiness, I nodded.

''Don't be so anxious outside, you know you have asthma'' RafRaf interjected to us, Tabia snorted.

''I'm sorry'' she said softly, she's at fault and she knows that.

''Let it go, it happened again, just always be careful next time, Tabia. If you are not careful, I will really beat you up'' I threatened her, she sighed.

''Yes'' she answered simply.

In the afternoon, I took care of Tabia's Bill at the Hospital. Evander is with me. Now I have proven again that Evander is really good and doesn't look like a cheater anymore. We walk back to Tabia's room while talking.

''Thank you, Evander'' I'm not just thanking him for joining us.

He was also the one who saw Tabia having an asthma attack, he said he came to us to get his t-shirt that was left behind last week and when he entered the house he saw Tabia gasping for breath. Papa is at Tabia's school that day to pay for her tuition fees.

He patted my shoulder.

''It's not a big deal, I still owe you more,'' he said.

I stopped so he stopped too. I faced him. I think base is really serious on his face.

''You cheated on me before but that's in the past, we're not in college anymore, so forget it'' I said to him.

It's true, why should I be angry with him after it's been so long, I'm not young enough to make a big deal out of it.

He smiled but it was forced.

''I want to make up, Thainah... I'm serious with you''

I felt sadness and pity.

How can I tell him that I am really inlove to Boss and Boss is really the only one even though we are vague. I don't want to give hope to Evander because he is very good and he doesn't deserve that. He is good and very handsome, I know there is someone more deserving than him.

''Evander hi—'' Before I could finish, he said something to me

''Give me a chance to prove myself, I'll never demand something just give me a chance please'' he begged and who am I to take his rights.

Not for being selfish but as long as I told him that I can't really be anymore, I've been telling him for a long time but he seems so persistent about having me again.

When I returned to the Hospital Room, I saw Papa, fixing Tabia's things.

''Let's go home'' I announced to them, Tabia screamed with joy.

''Hey thank you, I can sleep well'' said RafRaf who was obviously happy because Tabia was fine.

''My daughter,I'm sorry! I should be the one watching over Tabia and paying for her medicine, I'm such a useless father'' Papa said sadly, I looked at my siblings who were silent because of what Papa said.

I held Papa by both shoulders and shook my head.

''dont say that,Papa! You are the best and most caring father, of course I should be the one who spends for you, for how many years you fed and clothed us, I paid for it, my siblings and I paid for it, it's a pity that I can't free Mama anymore so it's up to you, Papa'' I cheered up Papa, he's still sad about mesmiled.

''Papa...'' it hurts me when Papa is like this.

''You are so hardworking, Papa! Then you go to my school. You were the one who bought my books in high school, then you also paid the hospital bill for my sister and me when we were hospitalized because of our stupidity'' said RafRaf, I smiled.

"Yes, don't be sad and drama, do you want Mama's dead body to live?" Tabia threatened, RafRaf hit her.

''You're a real bitch!''

"Thank you my children" said Papa.

We had a group hug, I'm really lucky with the family.
