" Do both of you know each other? " She asked and Carla shifted her gaze to the direction of the voice with her eyes widening a bit before trying to cover up her surprise.
Carla knew she was far from being pretty but the lady in front of her wasn't just pretty, she was also sexy. At that moment, she knew she had seen her lady crush. She could look at the lady's face and body for the whole day without getting tired.
" Oh! Yes, we attended the same middle and high school, though we weren't close. I just never expected her to get married to Lucas. You know, this life can be so surprising, " he answered her. " You two look good together, " he teased while wiggling his brows at Lucas who sneered at him knowing well what he was trying to do.
" I'm Nora, Noah's girlfriend, " Nora said as she extended her hand for a shake which Carla gladly accepted but to her surprise, she was pulled in for a hug letting a light gasp out of her mouth.
" Sorry about that, I'm just too excited 'cause I now have someone to talk with, these boys can be exhausting, " she giggled as she let go of Carla.
Carla smiled at the thought of it, she had never had a female friend as all the ones she thought she had were always jealous of her. Having one who wanted to become her friend didn't seem like a bad idea.
' Maybe my life now won't be as hard as I thought, ' she said in her mind nodding her head in acceptance of Nora's friendship.
The party was finally over and Carla drove with Lucas to his house. She couldn't believe she was now a married woman, to her childhood friend and crush to be exact.
The ride to his house was silent, none of them said a word and Lucas appreciated it as he had a lot of things to think of. He had gotten married to someone he barely knew. They were friends, but not close enough to know things about each other.
They finally got to his house and the designated driver parked the car. Both of them came down from the car, but Lucas walked away, leaving her to deal with her bags alone.
Twitching her lips together, she struggled to drag her bags inside the house but was assisted by an elderly man. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow and he bowed his head slightly in respect.
" Mrs. Grayson, I'm Jonah, the butler of this house, " he introduced himself and she nodded her head, smiling softly. He offered to help her with her bags and after much argument, she gave in at last.
After all her bags had been successfully carried inside by Jonah, she asked for directions to Lucas's room and went upstairs. She looked around the house, mesmerized by the size. There was no doubt that his house was way bigger than hers.
She finally got to the front of Lucas's door as per Jonah's direction and she knocked softly on the door twice before she heard a faint ' come in '. She turned the knob and entered inside, just to see Lucas, sitting on his bed, glaring at her bags that Jonah had kept there like it was some kind of mistake.
" What do you want? " he asked, his gaze shifting from the bags to her, his cold glare making her want to cower and run away. Instead, she smiled at him, taking a bold step forward. She was his wife at least, or so she thought.
" You sound like you don't want me here, " she teased as she took a seat on the sofa there. Lucas scoffed at her audacity, she couldn't just sit down on his sofa without his permission. It was his room and not hers.
" That's because I don't, " he responded, and she turned her head to look at him. She furrowed her brows at him, wondering if she heard him well.
" Excuse me? " she asked, blinking her eyes. He stood up and walked up to her, grabbing her by the arms and forcefully pulling her up.
"I believe you heard me right. I said I do not want you in here, in my room, so get the hell out, " he cussed, snapping at her. She creased her brows in disbelief, wondering if it was Lucas she knew that was with her in the room.
" Lucas, are you okay? " she asked softly but he ignored her, only to press the intercom on the wall.
" Jonah, come to my room right now, " he ordered before cutting the call. In a few minutes, Jonah knocked on the door and came inside the room. " Accompany Carla to room no 5, that's where she'll be staying from today, " he ordered, and despite the evident shock on the elderly man's face, he had no option but to do as his boss ordered.
" And you, " he turned to Carla. " Don't you dare come to my room unless you have something very important that I must know about, " he warned, eyeing her, his eyes filled with disgust and pure hatred.
" Lucas, what the hell is wrong with you? " she queried, pulling her arms roughly from his firm grip. " Why are you acting like this? ".
" Have you forgotten? You said this was a marriage of convenience, I don't think I have to dedicate myself, my time, and my bed to you, do I? " he fired back, raising his voice slightly.
