Chapter 3

" Darling, are you alright? " Her mother asked, opening the door as she came into view. Carla looked up and a smile crept up to her face amidst her worries. Her mother walked up to her sitting next to her on the edge of the bed. She looked deeply at her daughter, not believing the smile she was wearing on her face. Something was wrong, she could sense it and pressured her daughter to speak up.

Carla ended up telling her about Lucas's visit and how she was worried that she made him angry. After listening to her daughter's story, Selena placed her hands on Carla's lap, trying to soothe her worries

" Darling, it's not your fault if Lucas is angry. You didn't force him to sign the contract, it's just that his pride won't let him settle down with a woman. I don't even see what you or your Dad sees in him, "She sneered, causing Carla to burst into laughter, Selena joining her as well. After their laughter had died down, Carla looked at her Mum, smiling softly as she imagined a life with Lucas after marriage.

She hoped it would be just like how she predicted.

A week flew by like a flash and it was the wedding day already. Things went by so fast for Carla who had so little time to prepare but had to make everything so perfect as it was her day and she wouldn't want to disappoint Lucas who had been spending the past week, going to clubs and sleeping with different ladies like the person he was known to be.

A week was too small to prepare everything, but she couldn't complain. She was grateful enough that Lucas signed the marriage contract, complaining about the time she was given sounded too ungrateful.

She sat on the bed, waiting for her driver to come to take her to the venue. She breathed in and out, constantly fanning herself with her hands as she tried not to ruin her makeup. She didn't know that this was how other brides felt during their wedding, she was nervous and felt like pissing in her pants.

The door opened and her dad came into view, with his neatly ironed black Tuxedo, beaming with smiles the moment he saw his daughter. She pouted her lips on sighting him, stretching out her hands which he gladly took, and sat next to her on the bed.

" Princess, you look beautiful, " David, her father, commented looking at his daughter with pride as his eyes got blurry. He sniffed and blinked rapidly, trying to control the tears but failed miserably and they came pouring down like a downpour as he burst into tears. Carla's eyes soon became teary also and she wiped the tears that were threatening to fall, slapping her dad's shoulder lightly.

" Dad, please you're going to make me ruin my makeup, " she whined and David laughed in between tears, wiping his teary face as he looked up at his daughter, his eyes reddened and puffy due to the tears.

" Thank you, Dad. I was nervous before you came in and now you've made things better with your cries, " she said, her voice laced with sarcasm and a hint of amusement, but David took it too seriously.

" Why are you nervous? Princess, you're going to do well. It's your marriage, you have to make the most of it. You being nervous on your day would not help at all, instead, go out there, put on a smile, and recite your marriage vows to Lucas. You shouldn't feel nervous on a day like this, " he advised, making her coo at him. She didn't know her dad was a motivational speaker

" Seriously, Carla, if you ever see the need to come back home or you need a breathing space, your Mum and I are always ready to welcome you, " he assured and she nodded her head, hugging him so tightly that he had to tap out before getting choked to death.

A knock was heard on the door and she released him from her grip before muttering' Come in '. The door opened revealing their driver and she looked at her dad who nodded and stood up, stretching out his hands which she gladly took and they headed out.

Lucas watched as Carla walked up to the aisle, linking her hands with her father's. He looked smarter than ever, at least his dad made sure he did. With his neatly shaved jaw, his silver eyes held a sign of boredom and mischief. He prefers to be in the club right now more than anything, having the best fun of his life. He hated weddings and marriages so much, he couldn't believe that he was attending his own.

Just like every other male there, he was wearing a black Tuxedo. A small flower was placed in his breast pocket. He wanted to run away, but his position at the company was at stake, something he couldn't risk for the world.

Besides that, his eyes stayed glued to the damsel that was walking towards him. Her hair was packed in a bun which was then clipped to her veil. Strands of hair that were curled fell at both sides of her head. Her nude makeup matched her pale skin, adding more to her beauty.

His eyes trailed down to her body, the satin dress that hugged her hips which flowed down to the ground. With every little step she took, he kept on swallowing his saliva. His eyes remained glued to hers, unable to avert his gaze. It was as if he had been charmed by a spell, she was his spell.

As she got to the podium he managed to peel his eyes away from her body as he shook hands with David. Stealing one last glance at her, he shook his head trying not to make a fool out of himself.

' snap out of it, Lucas. This is Carla, a hot and naive Carla. No matter what, she can never be pulled into your world, she can never be given your heart, ' he chanted in his head, something he had been doing for the past three years now.
