Mr. Danu, when asked about the probing question, fell silent for a moment. He was unsure of how to respond, and everything felt sudden. Mr. Danu hadn't had the chance to discuss this with his wife, let alone with his daughter, Doctor Kasih, regarding this arranged marriage.
However, on the other hand, Mr. Danu found himself in Oma Meri's treatment room as Doctor Roland explained the progression of Oma's illness, which added to his dilemma.
Yet, the Danu family recognized the kindness extended to them by their employers, especially in supporting their daughter Kasih's education. Oma Meri had paid for Kasih's schooling from childhood until she earned her medical degree.
Mr. Danu thought it was time for his family to reciprocate the generosity they had received from their employers all these years.
"I welcome Oma's desire. For me, this is not a problem at all, especially since Kasih is old enough to get married," Mr. Danu stated.
"So, you all agree with everything? Sani, quickly, tell us what's in your heart," Oma Meri impatiently inquired, wanting to know Kasih's biological mother's perspective.
"Truthfully, this is very sudden, Oma. We, as Kasih's parents, were completely surprised by all of this. But we also agree. Thank you, Oma, for choosing our daughter as the future member of the Hoewar Family," said Mrs. Sani, touched by the situation.
Oma Meri's face brightened even more as she heard every word from everyone in the room who supported her decision.
However, Oma Meri had some doubts about Kasih, who remained silent and kept her head down the entire time. Kasih's hand in Oma Meri's grip felt cold.
Oma Meri thought that Kasih was nervous at this moment and was confident that Kasih would accept this arranged marriage.
"Kasih ..." Oma Meri called.
"Yes, Oma."
"What are your thoughts on your marriage to Faith? Oma hopes you will accept it and not disappoint Oma," Oma Meri said again.
However, Mrs. Rara suspected that Kasih might not fully accept the arranged marriage, perhaps because it was too sudden or she wasn't ready. It was possible that Kasih had someone she loved.
So, Mrs. Rara quickly said, "Of course, Kasih accepts it, Oma." She approached Kasih, held her hands, and said, "You are the only future member of the Hoewar Family. From now on, you call us Mommy and Daddy, not Mr. and Mrs." Mrs. Rara hugged Kasih lovingly.
"Answer, dear. Why are you so quiet?" Mommy Rara asked, while gently patting Kasih's smooth cheek.
Kasih had wanted to decline this sudden arranged marriage. She had never even spoken to Faith. How could she marry a cold and arrogant man like him? Kasih felt like a lamb being led to the lion's den. She had no control over her fate, especially when her parents also approved of this plan.
"Since everyone has agreed, preparations for Faith and Kasih's wedding will begin tomorrow," Oma declared.
"But, Oma, Faith doesn't know about the marriage yet. He might refuse," Mr. Heru voiced his concern.
"Daddy, don't worry. Mommy will explain everything to Faith. The important thing is that Kasih agrees to this arranged marriage," Mrs. Rara smiled at her future son-in-law.
After dealing with Oma Meri, Kasih struggled to get permission to continue her work caring for other patients. Fortunately, she managed to escape. Perhaps two weeks from now, Kasih would need to take time off to prepare for her wedding with Faith.
Doctor Kasih walked through the hospital corridor with a blank expression. She couldn't believe what had just happened in Oma Meri's treatment room. Everything had happened so quickly, and everyone had agreed to her marriage with Faith, a man she barely knew.
Kasih remembered how she had watched Faith from a distance for years, observing him during his basketball games and swimming sessions, even though he had never noticed her. She had even fantasized about marrying him one day.
But now, she had worries: "What if Faith doesn't agree to this marriage?" He had never even seen her, and Kasih wondered if he might have someone he loved.
"Kasih, what's wrong? You've been daydreaming for a while," Vini, her fellow doctor and friend, asked. They were in the hospital's cafeteria.
"Ah, I'm fine, Vin," Kasih replied, trying to push her doubts aside.
However, Vini knew when Kasih was keeping something to herself. They had been close friends since high school, and Vini knew Kasih's tendencies when she was troubled.
Vini wasn't one to give up easily, especially with her close friend. So, Kasih decided to be honest and share her concerns with Vini.
"What?" Vini exclaimed, her loud voice catching the attention of everyone in the cafeteria.
"Kasih, don't be joking," Vini said, seemingly unable to believe what she had just heard.
Kasih felt like a fairytale princess about to marry her dream prince, Faith Hoewar.
"Kasih, congratulations! The man you've been dreaming of will soon be your husband," Vini exclaimed, hugging Kasih tightly and congratulating her friend.
Little did Vini know the turmoil in Kasih's heart as she wondered, "What if Faith doesn't agree to this marriage?" She was uncertain about the future, especially since Faith had never even seen her. Kasih's worry left her feeling less enthusiastic about the impending wedding.
"Kasih, why are you so quiet? What's going on?" Vini asked again.
