CHAPTER 5

Robina's mind was racing with a thousand thoughts as she and Makael made their way back to her home.

The letter which the lad had sent kept going through her mind.

I can’t believe that the moon goddess is punishing me again, She thought lost in her own mind.

Why does she have to keep encountering Ian wherever she turns?

She glanced at him, cradling little Kelvin in his arms and turned away quickly. That was the way Ian was supposed to be cradling their little son if he hadn't listened to the devil and rejected her as his mate.

The thought was still raw in her mind that day he had rejected her, it made her head spin with confusion and uncertainty.

The revelation that Ian, the man who had broken her heart and still rejected her as his mate, was Makael's twin brother, the ex she had told him about was a lot to take.

She hadn't told him that the man who had broken her heart was his twin brother.

"I can't believe this is happening," she said with her heart pounding in her chest, her voice barely above a whisper.

“All this time, Ian was your brother?"

Makael nodded solemnly, not understanding what she meant.

He smiled at her, there was this hint of happiness in his eyes and she could tell he was happy to be seeing his brother soon.

She couldn’t ruin this for him, she could see his eyes were lifted, clearly so happy and glad. She thought in her head looking away from him.

"I'm so glad that I will be going over to see him, it’s been such a long time, Robina." He exhaled.

"But I think something is going on right in the Pack and I'm feeling kind of nervous."

Robina wrapped her arms around herself, feeling a chill despite the warm evening air.

“Why do you think it's not a good idea to go back to the Pack? But that's what you are going to do anyway.”

“Go back to your pack and take over as the new Alpha right?” She asked eagerly, looking at him.

"That's what the council is demanding of me," Makael replied, then he shrugged.

He seemed so uncertain there was a troubled expression on his face.

"But I'm not sure I'm ready for that, I'm not quite ready for that kind of responsibility, though I could have loved to go but you know I don't want to have issues with anybody.”

“What if my brother is already having the thought of taking the position and I don't feel like going back to Silverfurs Pack especially with the circumstances surrounding my disappearance."

All these while they were taking a walk back home with kelvin in Makeal hands.

Unknown to the both of them, they were holding hands all along too, Makeal carried kelvin with one hand and the other one to hold Robina.

Reaching the front door, Robina raised her hand to open the door and they both noticed their hands were locked together.

They locked eyes together and smiled, they released their hold on each other.

He looked so disappointed when it was time to let her hand go. He didn’t want to let her hand go yet. She looked away and opened the door slowly in order not to wake Kelvin, whose arm was still draped around his shoulder with his head resting on his chest. He was sleeping peacefully.

She felt so scared, so confused going back to the Pack she had shamefully left to behold the cruel face of Ian and then her best friend.

The thought of Ian having another family he cared for, another family that would see her as an intruder when she comes, so she should just refuse but Makael is such a good friend, she just can't tell him no and break his heart.

"And you want me to come with you? To Silver Furs Pack? Do you think it's such a good idea?

Makael placed a gentle hand on her shoulder after he had laid kelvin down in his room.

"You don't have to go if you don't want to go Robina, I know how it feels coming back to the Pack you know nothing about.”

The heartbreak and rejection makes it feel like everything just happened yesterday, feels like a new scar all over again, she thought.

“Robina but you can't deny the connection between us but please you're the only person I want with me.” He trailed off, his eyes pleading and locking his eyes with her.

Robina took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves.

"I really want to help you Makael but going back to the Pack that shattered my heart.."

She shook her head at the memories of Ian still so raw.

"I don’t understand you Robina," Makael said softly, his eyes never leaving hers.

“Did something happen? Is that why you left your old pack and is that pack Sliver Fur Pack? Is your ex also in Sliver Fur pack?”

So many questions lingered in his head but he saw the hesitation in her eyes. Before she could reply he said again.

"I promise, I won't let anything happen to you or Kelvin. If any idiots show their nasty face close to you or your child I will have no other option but to send him straight to hell."

Robina chuckled, he was so caring just opposite of his stupid brother he still didn't know that Ian was the man who had broken her heart if he knew.

Good Heavens she was quite sure he would refuse going to SilverFurs pack If she didn’t follow him, he didn't want to go either it was just that the Council wanted him to, else he wouldn't set foot there.

Besides he didn't know if the one who had tried killing him was still alive and kicking in the Pack

She looked down and thought of her son who was already sleeping in his room.

Kelvin had been her rock, her reason for moving forward after the heartbreak and rejection she had endured.

She really didn't want anything to happen to him, so she prayed silently to the moon goddess.

She wondered if Ian still even remembered her and the uncertainty of that was overwhelming. She wondered if she would be endangering the life of her little one.

She sighed and tried to avoid his questions, she went to the kitchen and handed a cup of hot coffee to him and took one for herself.

"Thank you." He said,"I will be needing this." He smiled at her.

"I really want to go with you but I'm not trusting myself." She said and gave a small laugh.

He reached and gave her hand a gentle squeeze."If you come with me you will make my day. You will brighten it, imagine standing before some group of old men answering silly questions, you just can't imagine, can you?"

She laughed at a genuine one and shook her head.

"You are so funny."

"But I'm telling the truth, I really don't have patience for such, thinking of what to say is draining me already."

He finished and gave a hard laugh himself, he watched Robina as she laughed too almost spilling her coffee.

"You have finally bought me over, you know your way around words, you."

There were tiny drops of tears at the corners of her eyes as she laughed.

"You should give me an award for that then."

"I won't."

"Really," he said, feigning surprise.

"But I'll do one thing.”

"Which is?"

"I will try to come with you to the SilverFurs pack, Makael.”
