CHAPTER 4

It's been a week now she hadn't seen him or whatever his name was, Makael if she could remember.

The shame and guilt she had felt that very day still lingered around her.

It was a Monday morning and she had taken Kelvin to school and decided to stay back and do a little clean up and perhaps clean her head from the stupid thoughts which danced around.

She could remember now she hadn’t seen him for a while nor had she seen his car drive in or out.

Thankfully she was glad that she hadn’t seen him for the past one week now then her mind flashed back to what had happened that day: the connection, the spark and God.... the scent.

That scent was what a wolf uses to know his/her mate, in the name of the Moon goddess, what was happening?

A handsome random stranger couldn't possibly be her mate.

She shook her head and she wiped her hands on a kitchen napkin and quickly gulped down a cup of coffee then she heard a knock on the door.

She quickly ran to get the door open and was rooted to a spot.

The man she was hoping couldn't return, a handsome perfect stranger was standing at her doorway.

He was drenched by the rain which had been falling for four hours straight.

He flashed her a very sweet smile and she wondered what was making him smile.

She stood there still staring at him, wondering what in God's name he was doing here all of a sudden.

"Can I please come in?" He said, trying to shake off the droplet of water on his coat.

"Do you have to come in?” She said, opening the door wildly for him to come in.

"I saw this and decided to bring it back." He said fishing out something like metal from his pocket she wondered what it was until he handed it to her.

She gasped when she saw what was in his hands, it was a pendant. She knew instantly that a week ago, when returning back home drunk she must have misplaced it.

"Sorry I had to open it to know who it belongs to. I saw your picture there."

He paused, knowing fully well that there was another picture at the other side.

"Thank you so much." She said gratitude in her eyes.

This was the pendant Ian had given her years ago, she wondered why she hadn't discarded it and still wore it.

Remembering him only broke her heart more, after this night she was going to keep it elsewhere.

"I just finished cleaning up the whole house, I can make you something nice to drink."

"No, no ,no, no ,no ." He smiled.

"I'm in a hurry." He finished and turned to go and then stopped as if remembering something.

"Tomorrow is going to be the Mating Festival here at Moonvale's Pack everyone is expected to come with their mate... I didn't say we are mates or anything like that." He said quickly as he saw her brows puckered together.

"It mustn't be a mate though, just someone, a friend maybe because I was thinking it would be a good evening for us to know ourselves better. You can also come with Kelvin, that's the name of your little son, right?"

She gave a small nod and smiled.

"You don't have to come if you don't want to." He began to say.

"No, it's all right. I would love to be beside you're a nice person, thanks for returning my pendant."

A warm smile spread on his handsome face making him look like some sort of a Greek god.

"I will come pick you up by 6:00 pm."

She nodded."it's fine, see you then."

When he came around the next day and gave a small knock on the oak door.

He waited at the door for some minutes before the door was flung open.

"I'm so sorry for keeping you waiting.” Robina said, little Kelvin gave Makael a cute baby-like grin.

“Aren't you a cutie little one.” He ruffled his hair and was rewarded with baby laughter.

He lifted his head from staring at Kelvin and as his eyes met hers, the world around him seems to dance.

He couldn't believe that standing before him was that same crazy woman he had taken home drunk and she looked 100 times more beautiful and younger than before.

She gave him the most beautiful smile he had ever received.

"Have the festival started?" She asked.

But it seems like he didn't hear her as his eyes were stuck on her.

"Makael don't you think we're running late?" She asked again but he looked lost.

"What was that?" He said finally coming back to reality. "I'm so sorry I didn't hear what you were saying."

"Nevermind." Robina replied.

"I was only asking if we are late for the Mating Festival."

" Not really, we can still go ahead. We look like a mate though”.

He suddenly realized what he said and made a quick apology.

"I'm so sorry sometimes I just speak gibberish."He laughed.

"You don't have to?"

"You look beautiful tonight." He walked up to her slowly and complimented her, stretching his open palm, he asked.

"May I?".

**************

"Sometimes I do try to forget all about him but I can't."

"When you fall in love with someone your body, your soul goes with them and the universe has marked both of you as one."

She said nothing but gazed at the moon smiling softly down at the Pack.

The Mating Festival had ended an hour ago and Robina and Makael had taken a walk to get to know each other better.

She could swear that he was such a sweet soul.

"You don't have to feel rejected and all that, in case you need someone to talk to." He paused and he looked into her eyes,

“I will always be here for you."

Makael couldn't deny the fact that the connection between them is getting stronger than before and he wondered if she felt the same connection.

"Thank you so much, it feels like I've known you for a long time." She said and laughed.

"Yes of course because I look like your ex." He said jokingly and quickly. "I'm sorry if I bring back sad memories."

“No it's okay, I have gotten over it."

"Well.” He said as they approached an oak tree.

"I have been living here in Moonvale Pack since I was fourteen."

"Really, I thought you belong to this Pack?"

"No." He finished and she could see a very far away and sad look in his eyes.

"Something terrible happened that brought me here."

His voice sounded so sad, she wondered if she could tell him not to talk about it.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"I feel like going back could only make those who wanted me dead to finish me up."

"What do you mean by that? Who wants you dead ?"she asked, her voice rising.

"I was the first son of Alpha Marcus, I was kidnapped and left dead before my adopted parents found me and brought me here."

“That is so sad”. Robina replied

"So you won't go back to meet your father ever again?" She was about to say something, when a young male wolf of about eighteen came rushing towards them.

"I was sent to deliver this to you, it arrived three days ago”. The lad said. He handed the scroll tied with a golden ribbon.

"What’s the letter for?" He asked the lad who looked surprised.

"I don't know and If you don't mind I would like to take my leave."

He said and dashed off.

As he tried to open the scroll, he wondered who sent the letter.

Robina watched him as he read some lines on the letter and his countenance changed.

"What happened?” Robina asks, getting all concerned.

"It's my father, the Alpha."

"Is everything okay at your Pack? What happened to your father?"

"He is dead." He said those words as his chest tightened in pain.

"I'm deeply sorry for your loss”.

He gave a small nod.

"But there is a problem." He said, getting angry and sad at once.

"A problem?" She asked. “What's it?”

"Yeah, yes they want me back quickly."

"The council at your Pack." She asked.

"Yes they want me back as soon as possible to come and take the position of the Alpha."

They walked for some distance, then he asked.

"Can I ask a favor Robina?"

"Okay go on."

"Can you come with me to my Pack you can come along with Kelvin."

Her heart danced for joy, for a long time she has wanted to be closer to him and this one hell of an opportunity.

"You have been a very good friend and I will love to come with you but first what is the name of your Pack?"

He paused and said those words which she never believed she would hear again.

"The name of my Pack is Silver Furs Pack and I am the next Alpha and from what I read Ian Rivers is my brother."

"Ian Rivers." She asked, her voice quivering.

"Yes I just realized that he's my twin brother."

Her heart beat increased, she prayed it wasn't the Ian she knew.

"How do you know this?"

His mind faraway.

" The scroll said so.”
