Chapter 1

"It's advanced stomach cancer. There’s nothing we can do already. You should inform your family as soon as possible."

The doctor's words were a direct pronouncement of my death.

Yet, I wasn't sad, for my brother would be happy.

On my eighth birthday, our parents died.

My brother grew to despise me deeply; he no longer loved me, no longer cared for me.

He bestowed all his tenderness and affection on my cousin.

I became a complete orphan.

A question my brother often asked me was, "Why didn’t you just die?"

I just smiled. Now, at last, I was going to die.
