CHAPTER 5: THE TOUR

He seemed nice enough on the tour but you could sense that he was tense the whole time.

Especially when I tried getting near him.

Trying to get us to touch but it was like he knew what I was trying to do and kept a great deal of a distance. This sort of saddened me a bit

Ryker has been giving me the grand and private tour of the town. i have learned more from him than i have from searching in those dry archives that were filled with dull history.

he brought life when he explained how the building next to the diner was a old bookstore before it was renovated into a beer house where most of the men of the town spend their days after a hard day of work.

I didn’t know why but it was just disappointing that throughout all his history teachings I couldn't even get him that close to me for us to touch again. it was so addictive waiting for the next touch to happen

I could see that people in Brystan had a lot of respect for him.

“ And that was where the old library was, it burned down a few years ago” made sense

I rambled on about how a mess the current library archives were and he just watched me.

We walked back to the diner and we sat in a booth.

The proximity gave me amble enough time to touch which I did and my theory was right and when I looked in his eyes it just proved what I was thinking.

“do you also feel that” I finally asked taking his hand in mine letting the tingles guide me.

He just smiled and nodded

his larger hand covering my smaller one. Embracing the tingles.

I screamed inside, we were finally touching

I have never felt this way before.

It was exciting

Alice came over and placed what we ordered on the table winking at me.

I still haven’t forgotten how she ditched me the whole night.

I had to wait for her to finish.

Ryker offered me a ride back but with everything that happened I just needed to think without his presence around me.

When he left to tend to his guests I could still feel his gaze on me. It felt like the burning eyes that I felt earlier when I came to town. The stalker.

I thought it was him but I guessed I was just being silly

I still couldn’t shake that off though.

“ So what brings you to my town” he said while leaning in to steal one of my fries.

I laughed “ well it’s a secret” I said stealing food from his plate too , giggling when he made a face at me.

I never giggled in my life before when I was with a guy.

It all just felt so natural not forced.

We spent hours just speaking about everything. Always having skin contact.

“ Sir” a man called out and Ryker turned back to me.

He stood up and I followed.

“ This was lovely” he smiled walking me to the door

I could see that he did not want to leave this little tour that we had, and I didn't want it to end either .

“ what do you think about doing this again perhaps dinner tomorrow night?” he asked invading my space giving me no choice but to say yes

Gosh, what was this man doing to me

I was literally turning into a puddle

He grinned knowing that he won

Maybe I just let him win

because I want to see where this goes

And maybe I would get the answers I needed from the source himself

Maybe the answers I have been looking for are all just right in front of me. I might find out what I am.

He took my hand in his and kissed my hand making eye contact and I just blushed.

The tingles never ending even after his touch was gone.

Geez I definitely had the hots for the mayor

“ You have the hots for the mayor” I jumped

“ God Alice you scared me” I held my heart

She was locking up and suggested to walk me back to my place.

Ryker had urgent business to attend to and said he would make it up to me.

Even though Alice babbled on about how the ball was with Andrew and I didn’t mind her.

I replayed all the memories of the day

I said goodnight to Alice and landed on my bed relieved.

Waiting for the next day to come.

As I closed my eyes a chilling thought came to my mind that this was never going to end well because of what I am.

for so long I felt like I was an outsider always looking in at other peoples lives and settling down

And this time I actually wanted to stay and be apart of whatever this was.

I never age . he would soon realise that. That’s why I needed answers. I know he knows something about me so does Alice and the rest of his family.

What was so special about Ryker that made me feel so attached to him already and made me want to stay and actually try my luck with him.
